Lucas had been rather adamant about picking me up the next day when he learnt of the fact that I had decided to travel on a Saturday evening to the university alone, where I had to do extra days of my part-time work to make up for the days I had missed once I was well. And none could be put to the blame for that save for Mel. I was quite unsure of how she had done it since she never had his number until I looked at my phone. She had indeed done the deed she thought was right since I was still a 'child' when it was the same person who got her out of a scrape.
"There you are," he said me when he arrived at the gate of the residence even before I had stepped out.
I stood there for a few seconds trying to process how he had been free enough to get summoned so quickly like he had all the time in the world. Then the whole procedure that Mel had used occurred to me at that very moment when I unlocked my phone for the first time since leaving the house.
