Chapter 23: The First Bite

I froze there, staring at the wounded vampire and feeling my heart sink. Prior to following Reginald, I’d been in the library with him, when suddenly he grabbed his phone, listened to it, and let out a very frightening snarl. Without telling me what was going on, he pocketed his phone, told me to stay put, and darted off.
I didn’t listen.
Rather, I followed him through the manor, into the yard, and finally through the woods. I’d briefly lost him a few times, but a howl told me where he was. When I got closer, I heard snarls, growls, and finally Reginald’s voice. I emerged from the shadows following this, spotting Percival in a pool of moonlight, mauled by something.
