Dungeon break (2)

Ryu took a deep breath to calm himself down.

He saw that even though these S Rank Monsters had shown themselves, they clearly weren't planning on attacking them yet since they were just standing there. They must have had some other plans if they were just going to stand there.

With this time that they were given, they couldn't waste it at all and had to think of a way to survive.

Even if their chances were miniscule, it was the only thing that they could do.

So he shouted at his group, "Everyone, calm down!"

All of them were jolted from their shock and turned to look at Ryu.

Ryu looked at them and said, "This might be our final battle, but if we want any chance of surviving, we can't panic! I know that this situation looks dire, but we need to work together to get through this! I believe that as long as we work together, we'll be able to survive!"

But then after a pause, he added, "Plus, I owe quite a few of you money, so I'm sure that you don't want to die before getting that back, right?"

When they heard this, the members of the Dawn of Light party couldn't help revealing wry smiles.

The reason why they had even joined this party was mainly because of Ryu.

Even though he had his bad points, namely that he was bad with money, liked to drink a lot, and played around with women, he was still a charismatic leader. He was someone that they could get along with and someone that they wanted to support, someone that was the rock of their party.

Seeing him act this way, they remembered why they joined the party in the first place and their hearts couldn't help relaxing a bit.

At least if they were going to die, they would be dying with their friend.

So all of them revealed firm looks before shouting at Ryu to return their money as soon as possible.

Ryu just revealed a smile and said, "If we make it through this, I promise that I'll pay each and every one of you back!" Then turning back to the three S Rank Monsters, he raised his sword and said, "Let's do this!"

But before they could even take a single step forward, there was a spear that suddenly flew through the air.

At a speed that they couldn't follow, the spear pierced right through Ryu's arm that was holding up the sword. There was no sign of it slowing down at all as it cut right through that arm and pierced the shoulder of one of his teammates behind him.

That person didn't slow down at all as they were carried away by that spear before being pierced into the wall behind them.

As they flew out, they slammed into several monsters behind them. None of these monsters were able to withstand this force at all as they were sent flying and were shattered into pieces.

After being slammed into the wall, that person wasn't able to remain conscious at all.

Chloe immediately raised her staff and cast a healing spell on Ryu, but all she could do was reduce the bleeding. The arm that had been severed and the stub left behind were completely mangled.

Unless they were properly treated, just her healing magic alone wasn't enough to attach them again.

She also quickly used her healing magic on the person pinned to the wall.

Luckily for that person, Ryu had taken most of the brunt of that attack, so there was only a bit of force left that hit him. That person had received the attack head on and received a hole in their shoulder, but the rest of them were fine.

So they quickly recovered from the healing magic, just they remained unconscious for the rest of the battle.

The spear that had suddenly flown out came from the Goblin Emperor. It was currently in a position that made it seem like it had just thrown the spear.

After taking a moment to return back to its original position, it looked at the Dawn of Light party.

Judging by the way it looked at them, it was clear that it didn't care about their party at all. It had only thrown the spear because it wanted to test how strong they were, but seeing how easily they went down from a single spear, it lost all interest.

The only thing that it was interested in was…Chloe.

When its eyes fell onto Chloe, there was a lustful look that appeared.

It was the same for the Red Ogre beside it, it was also looking at Chloe with a lustful look.

When these gazes fell onto her, Chloe couldn't help giving a shudder.

These two S Rank Monsters came from races that were famous for assaulting any women hunters that they caught. She knew exactly what would happen if they were to lay their hands onto her.

In a sense, it was a fate that was worse than death.

It would be better for her to kill herself now to spare herself from this fate.

But before the man she loved and her friends were dead, she couldn't do that. She would go out with them, she wouldn't kill herself just to take the easy way out.

So she forced herself to calm down and continue healing them.

Seeing that they had been ignored, the Goblin Emperor and the Red Ogre didn't seem to mind. They even had a smile on their face as they looked at Chloe.

The Fenrir saw this and gave a snort before barking something at the two of them.

The two of them revealed annoyed looks and said a few things in the monster language to the Fenrir before turning to the monsters in front of them. They looked at the monsters of their own race and raised their hands to give them orders.

Receiving these orders, the monsters that had been still suddenly started moving.

They began charging in waves at the Dawn of Light party.

When they saw this, they all revealed serious looks, but there were also firm looks in their eyes. It was as if they were prepared to face their deaths, since it was most likely what would happen.

However, before the wave of monsters could reach them, there was a rain of arrows that flew out from behind them. This rain of arrows landed accurately in front of them, piercing all the monsters that had been charging at them.

With this one rain of arrows, all the monsters that had been charging were shot down and there was a patch of open space filled with monster corpses that appeared.

The Dawn of Light party was surprised by this and they quickly turned around to see where this rain of arrows came from.

Standing behind them were a bunch of hunters that had finally caught up to where they were.

They had charged forward without caring about the others, but as time passed, the others slowly caught up to them. Seeing that the Dawn of Light party had been in trouble, they had immediately released this volley of arrows to save them.

After the dust settled though, these new adventurers were able to see the three S Rank Monsters standing there.

Even if there were many hunters here, there wasn't a single S Rank Hunter that would be able to face them. There were only a bunch of A Rank Hunters and the rest of them were mainly D to B Rank Hunters.

They could take care of these smaller mob monsters, but in the face of these S Rank Monsters, they were like paper.

There were even a few of the D Rank Hunters that fainted when the aura of the S Rank Monsters hit them.

Another leader of another A Rank party, the Crazy Tea Party, Mad Hatter looked at Ryu who was clenching his severed arm and said with a smile, "It seems like you're having a hard time. Do you need me to swap out for you?"

Ryu endured the pain and looked back at him with a smile as he said, "It took you long enough to catch up."

Mad Hatter shook his head and said, "With your party charging out like that, who could keep up with you? But at least you cleared out a path for us to follow, that made it easier for us to catch up."

Then he looked at the S Rank Monsters and said, "But it seems like it wasn't a good thing after all. All it did was bring us closer to these monsters."

Ryu shook his head with a bitter smile and said, "What can you do?"

Mad Hatter revealed a serious look and said, "What do we do now?"

Ryu also revealed a serious look as he said, "What else can we do? We either break through, or we all die here. Which one do you pick?"

Mad Hatter revealed a sad look and said, "My daughter was just born the other day, you know?" Then with a sigh, he said with a determined look, "I hope that she knows that her father was a hero."

Ryu gave a nod and patted him on the shoulder with his remaining hand, "I'm sure that she will remember you as one."

After making up their minds, they took the lead of the other hunters as the strongest A Rank Hunters here to face the powerful S Rank Hunters.

But before they could do anything, there was another powerful aura that came from in front of them.

This aura was unlike anything that they had felt before.

It far surpassed the aura of the S Rank Monsters in front of them.

It slowly approached where they were standing and soon they were able to see the true form of this aura.

Dragon.

It was a pure black dragon that even surpassed the height of the giant Red Ogre. In front of the dragon, the ogre was nothing more than a stuffed animal.

This pure black dragon ignored all of them and sniffed the area around as if it was looking for something.

After a while, it muttered to itself in a loud voice, "The smell, it's coming from around here, but why can't I find where it's coming from?"

The three S Rank Monsters immediately bowed down to the pure black dragon when it appeared. With the way that they were acting, it was clear that the pure black dragon was their leader.

These three powerful S Rank Monsters were willingly submitting to this pure black dragon…

It was easy to imagine just how strong this dragon was.

If they had to guess, this dragon was most likely a monster that was even above the S Rank.

SS Rank? SSS Rank? Or even Legendary Rank?

They weren't sure, but they knew that this dragon wouldn't simply be a S Rank Monster if it was able to speak the human language.

Now the question was…

What did it want?
