"So, you are saying that the cafe owner was the one who told me off about asking you, and not only that, did you suspect me as one of your grandfather's right hand man at first, Niles?"

Jean asked as he leans on the railings to see the clear blue ocean under the bright light he hasn't seen for... days? Jean couldn't really count as he doesn't even know when did he get hit now he lived in the underground for days.

At least, by what Niles cleared up with his story, now. The older male merely stared at the ocean ahead with an empty gaze, but with a hand still gripping really hard on Jean's wrist.

"Yes."

A loud crash of waves is then heard from the distance.

Jean lets out a small sigh when the male doesn't even bat his eyes from the blue ocean beneath the mansion they are in, right now. The young officer tilts his head to one side as he stares to the sky above before returning his gaze to Niles, who seemed to be lost in thought as he just retell the story.

"So you are admitting about hurting me just like that because I refused to say why did I dig into your past. Who taught you to use such dagger play?"

And that question, once again, made Niles stiff and unable to answer.

Jean finds things amusing now Niles always holds his tongue and retracting his words when the question was asked. He merely inspect the change in Niles's behavior now he seemed to be more than afraidーhe seemed to be heading to hell if he tell anything.

"Well?" Jean asks again and awaits for the other's reply, which is not coming at all.

"Look, Niles, if you have no answer on that part, I couldn't really help you if the officer knows about what happened to me regardless of your past. I believed they have helped you out enough too with the case ofー"

"ーit's the Chief of the Police!" Niles shouted loud enough it makes Jean's jaw went slack.

'Chief...?' Jean mused again for the second time as he stared at the older male before him, who actually gasps for air and starts begging Jean to not say anything.

"But, please, do not tell anyone about it! I actually asked him to teach me how to do some self defense if my Grandfather ever come to catch me. But I asked him the ultimate way to make them confess if things come to worst..." Niles looks away for seconds and continues, "I am sorry you had to be the first one to taste my torture. I should'veー"

"Am I fucking joke to you all?"

And just as Jean asked the question, Niles tilts his head and jolted when he sees the anger formed on Jean's face. Niles doesn't really understand the question, so when the younger officer pulls him by the collarーwith the sudden burst of strengthーand slams Niles to the concrete pavement, Niles suddenly pulls both of his hands to shield himself.

Jean almost snaps out when he sees Niles defending himself like that, but the next thing he realized he had just attacked problematic citizen he ever faced, he just let Niles away but still giving him a piece of his mind as he sat just right next to him, slightly infuriated.

"No wonder the chief doesn't even want me to do this case. You guys actually have a treaty, huh. But thanks to my quick analyze and finding you, now everything is clear. Clearer than the brightest day." Jean said with a honest tone and nods at Niles, who already stared his eyes to check if Jean is going to hit him.

"But." Jean paused and glared his eyes to Niles. "I will not overlook this and report you to the Chief himself, for what you have done." Jean closed both of his eyes and was about to stand on his feet until a strong arm suddenly pulls him down and made him see a clear sky above. Unsure if he was just backflipped, the male gasps when Niles already gripped both of his wrists hard enough and pins him down. Jean winces and was about to shove the older male, but to no success. "Let- let me go!" He yelps and stares angrily at Niles, who doesn't seem to be going to let him go anytime soon.

Niles tightens his grip on Jean's wrists, only to make him yelp and winces. "Now you have solved all the puzzles, with the police officers, the mysteries of 080827, are you going to turn me in? This case is not solved, yet, with the criminal is stillー" and just before Niles is even able to finish his sentence, the next thing Jean kicked his gut hard enough and to rolls him down, Niles glares at Jean, who already patted his pants and steals the other's hood and put it on his naked body. Niles was about to protest but knowing Jean has the authority as well, the male merely shut his mouth.

"Well, then, if you want me to not 'inform' this to the chief, you better help me out to the office and find out if your Grandfather is still alive. And I'm going to make you attend some counseling along with psychology treatment. I am sorry to hear about what happened, and I will help you out, if you are willing to help me out to find the justice in this case as well." He merely said as he offers a hand to Niles, who doesn't understand why Jean is so kind to him.

But Jean merely smiles.

"Stand up."

And that's all Niles needed as he took the officer's hand then, grasping on it so tight he wouldn't even let go. And once he'd just stand just right and creeping behind Jean, the male instantly slides his hands around Jean's waist, getting the younger officer to shudder and was about to hit him again, but leaving the ideaーhe merely stares his eyes instead.

"Why are you so kind to me? From the start." Niles asked softly, then, which doesn't really get an immediate answer from the young officer who merely stares at the blue sky above and feeling grateful now they have come to the conclusion of the story and... certainly, to breathe properly after such turn of events.

"Because you are a human too. And you deserve a good ending, if this is your story."

And Jean merely grins as he pats the older male's head softly. "But that doesn't mean I will undergo your crimes. You will still be held in the cell." Jean simply said as he drags both of Niles's hand and made the older male even more frantic than ever and starts to riot behind Jean as he doesn't want to get inside the jail.

"Eh?! But I thoughtー"

"No buts. Crimes are still crimes. And you just pick a wrong person, that is all. Doesn't mean we stop here, we can catch your grandfather. Together." Jean said that with a reassuring tone that actually makes Niles smiles softly in return and holds his head low as he eventually gives in with Jean, who is still holding things just in the name of justice.

"I never know what is up with you and justice complex." Niles teased the young officer who merely throws him a cold glare.

"Then what about you? Why did you get close to me now I had this complex? I thought you thought of me as your grandfather's underlings."

"Well, no, you are different. I just... know it. Again, I am sorry for everything." Niles really regrets what he had done now Jean actually still feel salty about what he said. Not like his complex is something bad compared to what Niles had, he mused.

"Then repent it with what you have to do in pice station. Simple as that. Criminal to be." Jean simply said before bashing his head to Niles's forehead, which had gotten him to wince and groans.

"Hell- alright, alright!"

Niles simply said as Jean chuckles happily now Niles admits defeat as they both go to the police station later, with Jean as the lead.

It was really late in the afternoon when they arrived and only to find out Niles's grandfather was already no more and caught in ways back after Niles's suicide case which ended up with him deceased due to his old days and various diseases. And of course, with Niles having to commit a crime to Jean, Jean, too, hand him over to the chief and officerーlike what he saidーbut had gotten him out too due to Jean doesn't take any grudge but compensation for his medical bills and recuperation.

And an apologize from his chief, of course.

The day ends well with Jean getting congratulated to solve the whole mystery by his own. Although Jean intentionally crash a cup while smiling before taking a day off early too, thanks to his scarred body.

"Thanks for the hard work." He said with a devilish smile before leaving both of Chief and Niles behind, noting he needs to get to the hospital later on.

"Well, at least everything ends well now, I can get to rest soon..."

Or that was what Jean hoped under the bright moonlight, until he received a text message of where Niles is rampaging on the office after being left behind and charged to be taken care of Jean now he gets Niles's trust. Jean heaves his shoulder and exhales loudly.

"Or not."
