ARIANA'S POV

( song for the chapter Billie Eilish [lovely] ft Khalid). You could listen to whatever you like  but I love this song.

Or

All in my Head_Flex- fifth harmony ft Fetty Wap; I listened to it while editing. P.S; has nothing to do with the chapter, but I was in a good mood ya see...

_________

Tori: Over to you Ariana.

Ari: oh okie, grab your popcorn guys. This is gonna be really touching so you might need a more touchy feely song than what Tori prescribed.

Tori: hey it's not my fault, I can't find songs to match the chapters, a--

Ari: *rolls eyes.* Shoo Tori this my moment.

Tori: *whispers* okay, okay.

_________

All I needed was a reasonable and genuine reason as to why she; by she I meant Melanie would do that, and Eva, there was still something about her. Her demeanor was off. I stepped into the class.

"Ari!" Melanie chirped. " Melanie was always so positive that some of it rubbed off on me. If I were to be best friends with someone like me, there's no doubt that I'd loose my mind.

I frowned, looking at her indifferently and she got the message.

"Carver explain to her." Melanie said.

"I'm not staying here only to have you to bicker over very unimportant things. Excuse me, for I have more lucrative things to do than sit here."

"Hey! You're the reason she's mad at me." Melanie yelled on top of her voice, I had never met a person as loud as her.

"Don't put him in the middle of this. Carver's not the reason you're a backstabber."

"Hey! There was a good reason. I never meant to leave. Right Carver?"

Carver walked out waving his hands. He wasn't interested in dealing with things like this, one could tell at first glance that at times he could act unconcerned, after I turned I realized something. Eva, She wasn't in the class anymore.

"Melanie."

"What?" She replied me half conscious, the only competition I had to battle with for her attention are hot boys. Her eyes were glued to her phone screen. She kept kicking her legs back and forth while sitting on the table, her right hand holding her phone, and her left hand on the table.

I grabbed her phone from her hand.

"Hey! Give that back!"

"I knew it! Get over him already." Melanie had recently developed this obsessive nature thing for E.J Caswell from High School Musical; The Musical. Well she wasn't the only one, I was also addicted to ogling at him.

"No." It's only been like two minutes, and the only thing on your mind is Caswell.

"Like you're not obsessed too." She rumbled her nose, pouting her lips in a fuss.

"Whatever. You still have to explain why you left me alone." I crossed my arms.

"Well, I saw Carver standing alone. He must have been confused since he's new. I wanted to  explain everything to him. I never knew he was plugged yet I kept yelling his name like I was insane."

"You could have told me. You missed when I tripped and Selena caught me."

"How could I? When all you see is Cole. Hold that thought, Selena broke your fall?" Melanie raised her left brow.

"For the show." I exhaled.

"Of course. But I'm sure you didn't notice I was gone cause your eyes were fixed on Cole."

"Oh. Don't even start." I sighed."Carver and Eva are gone."

"Eva? Who's that?"

"..." Melanie didn't know Eva? She must be new then. Melanie knew everyone, famous, infamous, nerds and the shadowers. Shadowers in mellow high are those invisible to the social circle.

Melanie's phone rang, and her face lit up. "It's that hot senior from Weston college. I gotta take this, I'll be back in a few swii." She said gasping at the sight of her screen.

Well I was alone...again, and I felt like I should clear my head. I thought about looking for Cole. I went to the soccer field to find out that none of the boys on the soccer team were there. It was quite a sunny day. I sat down on the bleachers and plugged my ears, I guessed it was already lunch time at the moment so I felt clearing my head would be nice. I listened to Illenium's- afterlife it made me drift deep into my thoughts.

It was nice. I slowly drifted into bliss. A tap on my shoulder made me jerk back to self consciousness, and it pretty much made my heart jump. I was stunned to see Eva sit next to me. She stared into space without saying a word. She seemed mysterious you'd never notice her presence until she made you aware of it. I thought she'd make an awesome spy.

"Hi?" I removed my earpod so I could hear her response, also so I could make sure that I wasn't being too loud.

"Hey." She sat still, staring into space.

She was plugged, but I could hear the music from her ear pods. She was listening to Billie eilish's "lovely" ft Khalid. The song always made multiple emotions awaken within me.

"You listen to her?"

"Yes, I do." She faced me.

"Nice." She removed one of the pods and handed them over to me.

"Rare to meet someone with the same music taste as I. Someone who doesn't think it's all dark and moody."

"I understand you. We're different, in love with music that connects to the soul." I smiled at her, and she nodded slowly then continued to stare at the empty soccer field. The next song played" no time to die." I guess she only picked Billie songs to listen to.

"You left class abruptly. Hummm...."

"I announced my exiting away from the class apparently you all were lost in your bickering."

"Oh." I lowered my head.

Eva sighed" Chill. I'm used to it."

"Oh. Well..." I didn't know what to say. "If it makes you feel better I understand how that feels."

"I know you do." She smiled a bit.

"So you new?" I asked. I don't know why I wanted to keep taking to her.

"I've been in the same class with you for a year now." Okay that was creepy as fuck because I never knew Eva.

"....." Okay. This was it, Who was she?! I thought to myself.

"I know you're freaked out. I understand. In a class so populous only few have noticed for one reason or another. Sometimes it's better to be in  oblivion."

"I wish." I whispered.

"I'm gonna be honest, you're really strange." I smiled at her, and she smiled back.

"I know right? I love me too." She pushed away the hair covering half of her face, tucking it behind her ear. Eva was really beautiful, blue eyes black hair, really pale white skin. Like an ice witch.

"Yeah." I didn't know what else to say.

"When you'd get into Mellow High?" I asked.

"Transferred here middle of the semester first year in highschool."

"I still can't believe you've been here all along." I still couldn't believe it. A bunch of new students came in, and she was never introduced. Actually, I don't know if she was ever introduced by the principal or a teacher.

"There are many of us in oblivion. Neglected and forgotten. Probably because we have never drawn attention in anyway."

"Being in oblivion is it better than being recognized?" So she was a shadower. Shadower ninja.

"We wished to be recognized even with the complexities involved, but when we look at it all it's just about chasing clout and nothing else."

"People are popular too, you know? And they're living great." I said.

"Like your sisters?"

"....." She knew about my sisters too? That conversation between Eva and I... It's not something I can describe with a word, a sentence or paragraph. I mean my sisters were popular, but not many knew we were related.

"Hehehe." She chuckled softly" I know a little more than I should."

"If you're thinking about others, and only look at what you see outside you'd get the wrong idea. There's a lot we need to learn especially things like how to deal with foul foes, and this is especially for you." She added.

"Huh?" I was confused.

"You'll understand soon. Ariana, you can't stay silent all your life. You can't let small things weaken you, the worst is yet to come."

"What do you mean? The worst is yet to come?" Since did mellow high allow fortune tellers transfer.

Eva stood up." You'll understand, tough times like these are only the beginning."

"You... I don't understand... What do you mean?" I managed to speak up.

"Don't get worked up. You're young, inexperienced and yet to know how dangerous and cruel life might be."

"True. I know...." What experience did she have that made her speak like this. Her face was expressionless, but her words carried so much emotion. I could feel it.

"Don't mind me, I say things I'm not supposed to, and in the strangest ways too. I gotta go." She laughed a little.

"Your earpod." I stretched it to her.

"Thanks."

I wanted to stop her, she couldn't tell me not to be bothered after speaking like that. Thinking about what she said I knew I  had no experience what so ever, but those words were coming from a girl my age. She was quirky alright. I know I haven't learnt enough. The future was yet to come, she didn't have to add to my worries.

I stared at her back till she was out of sight. I sat on the bleachers for a while. Could the future any be worse than this? My teenage or childhood life wasn't something I could say I  enjoyed. What could be worse than that? I didn't believe life could be worse than it already was. My life was bad enough.

Actually it was about to get worse now that Nicole is here to back up Selena. I bent my head backwards the sun smiled widely at me, and I felt the heat on my skin. I wasn't sure I was ready to go back to class at all. Though I doubted that the Yate twins would be attending any classes that day.

"The worst is yet to come." Her words rang in my ears. I could get what she said out my head. No matter how much I tried to. Was it fear of the worst that was yet to come? Was it because a part of me felt like she was right.

The worst is yet to come  was another inscription of fear carved on every corner of my heart.

A/N

Just so you know. I'll be updating a chapter for the next four weeks after this double update. I have issues to sort, and I don't wanna leave you guys without anything to read. So I think a chapter every update is fair enough for all of us.

Also I finally decided that Eva would be the Sensei here, because mi gurl knows everything. Call her the omniscient character.( ◜‿◝ )♡

Do y'all think there's actually something WORSE yet to come? Comment to let me know.

One more question.

Would you prefer to be in the spotlight or shadow?

SEE Y'ALL NEXT WEEK;)
