Ruby was shocked. This could not be Severin’s ex-wife because Ruby knew that her name was Marjorie. Ruby decided to talk to Ferrel about it.

Severin had begun to ask Meshaye out for lunch frequently when it seemed as if Ruby was completely lost to him. She had shunned his gift of an island and that had truly hurt.
Ruby phoned Severin during this period of time, one day. “Severin, I understand that you are doing very well in the popularity stakes back in my hometown,” she had stated bluntly.
“Wait, Ruby. Not so fast. Don’t you love that beautiful island I bought you?” Severin had asked, pretending to be shocked at Ruby’s anger.
“You should have known from the outset that I would never have fallen for that gift because it is very inappropriate.”
“But you cannot blame me for simply being unable to stop loving you?” Severin continued.
