Broken

I've been staring at this for hours, but I still don't understand what is being explained.

' I've been searching the whole place, tryna find you,and you've been here' Les said, almost shouting,awwn she's worried.

' Well you've found me now,so what?' I asked.'

' Lover boy has been searching for you' she replied with a sly smile. I never knew I was this important.

' Tell him tha-

' Too late,he's here already' she said turning away from my view,I saw him coming towards me,my heart skip a bit. With that Les walked away giving us privacy. I've been avoiding him,since on Sunday,now today is Tuesday. We actually went to the hall,there we met Mr Zadok, I told him about the classes I missed and about my inability to recognize my element. After much talk,he agreed to help me get to know it. He gave me some ancient books to read and other things like that. On Monday I tried putting what I learnt to practice,I ended up killing two trees in the forest and a deer. They just shriveled and died. What kind of charm is that. I didn't tell Nero,I don't know what he will think and I did the best thing, avoid him. And now he's here, thanks to Sherlock Leslie.

' Hey, what are you doing here?' I asked trying to lessen the growing tension. He just stared at me,with an unreadable face,boy am I scared. I looked away from him,back at the book I was trying to understand.

' So you're alright?' he asked.

' Yeah' I replied.

' Why are there black patches of dust on the ground,in the place trees were grown?he asks.

' I don't know' I reply feigning ignorance. Does he know?

' Hmmm, so it's not you that did that?

' What? No' I scoff. Looking at him with a passive face.

' You kno-'

' I don't know what you're talking about,I really don't' I say before he said anything. I got up wanting to move away,but he grabs my wrist

' I know it's you, I don't have an Earth charm for nothing you know' he said.

' I-'

' Don't worry,I won't tell , just let's go see Zadok,he might have something to say'he says

' But,how do-' he cuts me off

' You're the only one still learning about your charm, everyone else is through with theirs, except those with dormant charms in them' he says. With his hand still on my wrist,he tugs me forward,we were now walking but he still doesn't release my wrist, I could run away if I want to but nah I like it this way. We walk in comfortable silence,till I felt him slide his fingers into mine. I looked at him, but he didn't turn my way. I smiled a little.

  We got to Zadok's place, knocking at his door,after a few minutes he opened the door, looking at us in displeasure. He closed the door behind us and he beckons us to follow him. We do that and we end up in his office.

' What brings you here?' he asked.

I explained everything to him, earning a stink eye from Nero,cause I didn't tell him everything. After the whole explanation, he looked to be in thought,then he stood up leaving us to ourselves.

' So that's the whole story huh?' Nero asked.

' Yeah,it is' I replied coldly.

' Why didn't you-'

' Come see something' Mr Zadok says cutting Nero's question. We both stood up to go, I eyed Nero, why was he here? Doesn't he have a better place to be?

Mr Zadok points to a paragraph on the book,he opened. It talks about Broken Charms,it says 'Every charm has one broken one, the broken one, always have more power to cause havoc than to bring peace, earthquake, wildfires, tsunamis, deforestation, mudslides and all other havocs were due to broken charms and there is no remedy for it. In olden times the people with these were burnt to death,just like Elizabeth Gelding,the first one to be burnt'. I felt sick, I was going to be burnt.

' You're not going to be burnt Yvonne,but you just have to keep it dormant,it works with your emotions, happy times do good,but anger causes havoc,so it's better to forget about it,act normal,move on' Zadok says.

I turn to look at Nero,he looked thoughtful but he didn't say anything,he didn't even look at me. I felt sad. So without saying a thing,I walked away. Out of his life. He didn't even come after me.

' Your secret is safe with me Yvonne' Zadok shouted after me. At least someone cares.

Les is out with Damien and I'm home alone. He didn't come after me, I repeated to my self,my wolf felt crushed. How won't she? I thought things were changing but how stupid I was, I knew it won't work from the beginning, but I still did it anyway. Stupid girl,I facepalm myself. Someone knocked at the door. Go away. I thought. The knocks became louder and heavier. Ugh. I walked to the door ready to scream at the person,I open the door to see Nero,I quickly try to close the door on him,but he's fast, pushing he's foot and half of himself inside,I release the door and walk back to my seat. Thank his God, I'm not angry,I would've jammed the door on him and his foot.

  He placed a bag in front of me,my curiosity got better of me and when he went to take a piss,I looked inside,he got me Oreos and a large ice cream tub. Bribery, I thought and huff.

He came back and say down next to me, my wolf started squealing again.

' I know you're annoyed-

' Not annoyed, angry, I'm angry' I say

' Well,am sorry,for reacting that way, I was just wondering or should I say thinking'

' About? How you could get rid of me the easiest way' I quipped, I know I was annoying him,but I don't care.

He sighed

' I was thinking of how I could help you,I talked to Zadok again and he said you could try doing some stuff to help you maintain your calm and see if you could do the right thing. We'll start tomorrow, we'll go inside the forest and try different things,and see how you can maintain your calm not to cause a havoc' he replied. I was touched,he actually cares.

Smiling at him,I threw my arms around him,he was stiff at first,then he relaxed against me. I really like him, but the lurch was there, things might end badly. Grabbing the bag off the table,I opened my Oreo, giving him some out of it, while I licked the creamy filling that was in it, throwing the wafers away.

' How do you know if it's yours?' he ask, pointing at the bag

' I just know' I say giving a small smile.

Tomorrow I'd try,I'd try to give myself a chance. Maybe I'd be able to find the rib, easily. I just have to be calm.
