Chapter 52

The ride back home is silent.

But for the first time both felt at peace with it.

Edward held Dale's hand while driving.

Surprised that she didn't pull away even if they no longer have an audience.

Dale leaned back in her seat with her eyes closed.

Keenly aware of Edward's glance whenever they are at a stop.

She feels her heart is beating so fast so she tries to calm it by taking slow deep breaths.

She felt Edward's hand squeeze her hand a bit so she opened her eyes and looked at him questioningly.

"Are you okay my love?" and he reached out to touch her cheek.

Dale was taken aback but she didn't flinch from Edward's touch.

She nods slowly.

"Tired I guess from everything that happened." as she looks at him baring her soul.

She no longer wants to hide what she truly feels.

She wants to get rid of her nightmares once and for all.

Edward caresses her cheek.

He knows what she means.

"I'm so sorry my love! I know it's not enough for everything that you've been through but I still want to apologise for what I did. And I won't get tired of asking for your forgiveness. But please give me the chance to tell you everything that happened!"

Dale takes a deep breath and nods.

"I need to tell you something too!" she says in a weary voice.

Edward is feeling apprehensive at what Dale is going to tell him.

He's terribly afraid that she would ask for their marriage to be annulled.

He can only answer "Ok..." in a weak voice.

Edward went back to holding her hand and driving.

But the fact that she didn't withdraw her hand from his is giving him hope.

They reach their house after a few minutes.

Edward immediately gets out to open the car door for Dale.

Dale lets him assist her.

They walk a bit slowly towards the door.

Both of them now feeling apprehensive.

Edward even more so than Dale.

He lets out a huge sigh as he unlocks their house.

"This is it! It's now or never Edward!" he thinks to himself.

"Are you sure about this Dale?" she asks herself.

They wordlessly entered their house.

"You want to change your clothes first before we talk?" asks Edward.

Dale shook her head.

"Oh okay!" Edward suddenly feels unsure about himself.

"Let's talk in the bedroom." Dale suggests.

For some reason, she feels that it's the appropriate setting for their talk.

It's where they broke up before anyway, not in this house, but in the condo before that they shared.

"Let's go.…" Edward held out his hand to Dale and she took his hand as they walked towards their bedroom.
