Was it pain or sorrow, I didn't know but whatever I felt at that moment was hurting me. I couldn't believe that Dav would actually yell at me and bang the door on my face.
I tried to convince myself to get rid of any atom of guilt in me since I was very certain that Dav was the one at fault but my heart just wouldn't let me rest. I knew that for Dav to yell at me, he must have gotten to his limit.
Unwilling to accept that I had made him angry, I immediately rushed out of the room to sort things out but my intentions were immediately flushed down the drain by what, or would I say who I saw.
There, the moment I got out of Dav's room, I saw Dav with his mistress standing in the hallway. Again, he had his hands on her shoulders and this time, she also had her hands on his shoulder but when our eyes met for the briefest moment, she pulled Dav closer for a kiss.
But this time, I didn't run away from the scene, I glued my feet on the floor as a drop of tear flowed down my cheeks. Dav didn't push her away as he returned her kiss with a little bit of passion.
" Dav!" I whispered and that was all it took for him to disengage their lips contact.
" Wife." He exclaimed.
Not wanting for him to explain his cock and bull story, I immediately rushed into the room and did what every other female would do, I locked the door.
" Wife, please open the door so I can explain."
My heart shrank. My expectations had come to reality, Dav was in another relationship but couldn't he have waited for at least a month before he started making foolish advances?
There was only one similarity between his choice of words and the insults mother and father would rain on me; which was, they were perfect tools for my heart to go into shock.
" Wife, It's me Dav, your husband, please open the door." Again, he repeated those disgusting words.
Speechless, I slowly walked up to the bed and lay on it. Although I didn't see her at that moment, I could guess the wide and cheerful grin the mistress would have.
It all made sense, she was the reason for the deaths of the past human females brought to Dav. Just like me, they would have developed some kind of feeling for Dav but got jealous of the mistress. When they realized that Dav was so much into the mistress, some of them decided to kill themselves since they can't go back to the humans.
The noise Dav had made from hitting the door was pushed into the background as consideration of whether it was a good idea to follow the footsteps of the past human females.
But wouldn't that make another human on the list? Surely another female would be brought to Dav and she might end up with the same fate. I immediately got rid of that thought as I soaked the bedsheet with my tears.
As expected, after a while, Dav's noise stopped which enabled me to divert into the dreamland, at least I could be safe there.

Meanwhile, Dav was very irritated by the presence before him. He had warned her to stay away from him but she wouldn't listen.
He couldn't blame Eliza for locking him outside his room. From her point of view, it would have seemed that he responded to Beatrice's kiss but little did Eliza know that he tried to push Beatrice away without hurting her.
That was not how he planned his marriage with Eliza, he wanted her to be the last human brought to him, which was why he did what he swore he would never do; marry a human.
" Dav, you don't need her, you have me."
Those words of mass destruction were like poison to Dav's consciousness. If there was anybody that he didn't need, it was Beatrice. She took advantage of his kindness and the relationship they shared in the past.
Slowly but surely, he turned his gaze over to Beatrice with eyes that showed intent to kill.
As expected, Beatrice shook in fear, she knew what it meant when Dav's eyes blazed in such a manner and God help whoever that stare was directed to.
With no intention to hurt her, Dav wordlessly walked past her to the only place he could think– of his private garden. If harming Beatrice would make his wife happy, he would have done that but he knew how innocent and pure Eliza was, he was very certain that it would not please her.
There was nothing he could do other than wait until she decided to open the door which he was very certain would be very soon. Unlike his race, humans were less tolerant of hunger and when nature comes calling, she will definitely open that door.
" Do you want her to have the same fate as the past human females, why don't you take her back to the humans if you care for her?"
Dav's anger immediately went up the chart. There was no other thing that he hated in life other than seeing another person that wasn't him in his garden and to make the situation extreme, that person just happened to be Ray.
He knew Ray, he probably came to criticize him but at the same time, give him some powerful advice.
" You know that's not possible, I can't let her go, she's mine." Dav blurted out as he tried to avoid eye contact with Ray.
" She's not yours, she belongs to us, the vampires and you know that." Those words were enough to spark some reaction from Dav. No, she belongs to him…alone!
Dav hurriedly walked to Ray with cold stares but Ray refused to be intimated
" If you want to keep her as yours, you need to treat her right, or else the vampires will take her."
These words made Dav sigh in frustration, Ray has said the truth and if that happens, there was no way he could stop them.
Without saying any more words to Ray, Dav walked out of his private library.
If there's one thing he knew about Eliza, she had a soft heart, and people like that are always easy to break, which he planned to do.
