‘‘What?’’ Kaden addressed his question through the speaker.

‘‘Let’s cancel this flight...’’ I declared. ‘‘I'll call you again…’’

‘‘What the…’’ His tone of speech was obviously upset, but I paid him no attention as I unbuckled my seatbelt, took my laptop, and my briefcase, carrying them as I exited the plane.

I called for a cab and it arrived after five minutes of waiting. I immediately hopped inside, before I provided the driver with the address of Chloe's apartment.
