004: Temporary Home

[Struggled a bit with this one so if it seems a bit rushed I apologies]

Leaving the station I was met with the heat of Arizona in the summer but Alison looked perfectly comfortable in my hoodie like she was used to the heat.

It is July the 12th 1998 and I am in my new home in a county I've never really been too before. And I was hungry. My stomach growled and Alison who was closer to my stomach than I was thanks to her height looked up at me with amused eyes.

"It's been a while since I ate, want to get some breakfast?"

"Sure, there's a lovely diner quite close to here" she l started walking across the road and walked into the doors exactly opposite the police station.

"Well you did say it was quite close" I joked sliding myself into a booth. She put her bag in the seat first then slid in next to it, picking up the menu she asked "So Harrison, tell me how a young British man ends up here in this diner with me"

Deciding to do the same I picked up the menu and replied "Long story short, life, death and a very big gamble"

She looked a bit humoured "Well I've got time so why don't you make the story a bit longer?"

Before I could reply the waitress came over to take our order. "I'll just have some scrambled eggs and a black coffee" Alison said. "And for you?" The waitress asked me. "Just bacon please, like a plate full of bacon"

The waitress walked away like that was a normal order and I turned back to Alison. "Describe to me a rich British teenager"

"Uhh okay, rich parents, trouble maker, private school. Oh getting in trouble but being bailed out by your parents and not learning anything."

"Private school yes, getting in trouble double yes, learning nothing cause I was bailed out by my parents is a no. My parents died when I was one. I got my inheritance when I turned 18 and lived with my relatives most of my life. Had a lot of adventures, good and bad. And made a lot of friends who I miss a lot." I must have started to drift away because Alison had to clap in my face before I noticed I had stopped talking.

"What do you mean you miss them, do you not talk to them any more?"

"They are no longer with us unfortunately, and I miss them everyday" which I said with a smile on my face.

"Your life sounds so sad yet you look like you are happy"

"People can be happy even if they are sad or lonely, they just have to keep an open mind and do what they love, which for me is travelling to new places." At this point our food came so we stayed silent for a few minutes while we ate.

After cleaning up my plate of bacon I used a napkin to clean up and leant back in my seat. "So Alison King, why don't you tell me about yourself?"

"Well I was born in the next town over and have lived in Jerome all my life, I have t really left but I hope to do so in a few years time. Normal childhood, normal high school. When I graduated I decided to become a journalist and that's what I've done ever since. One day I'll travel all over the world and report about everything I see there."

After her brief biography, Alison got up to use the restroom and I took the chance to properly look at my interviewer and guide.

She had medium length pink hair which was tied up in a ponytail yet still hung to her shoulder blades. Her arms had several beautiful tattoo designs such as the dragon twisting up her right arm.

After some food Alison showed me to the nearest motel and where the places that I may need were like the grocery store. She also left me with some contact info and made me promise to see her again if I planned on leaving town.I relaxed in my temporary room and sat with my thoughts thinking about what I should do next with myself.
