The Reason

I know I hurt you

and that is something

I will have to live with

for the rest of my life.

But you hurt me first.

At least I only lied to you in the end

to protect you from the truth

and not throughout like you did

with no reason but to protect yourself.

You loved me, or so you say.

You still do and that's okay

because feelings never truly go away

but you surely don't know what love is.
