Chapter 24: Chapter Twenty-Four

*Jonathan’s POV*

When the chief and the deputy initially agreed to let Brielle consult on the case, I was absolutely shocked beyond belief. I felt absolutely dog sick and could not even fathom what the next few days were going to be like. Little did I know this hurricane was in store for me, and there was nothing I could do but hang on tight for the ride.

From Brielle going to dinner with Vincent, our impromptu stake out watching his place, and finding out he was murdered while we were right outside, the past few days have been absolute mayhem.

Even when I had to break the news to Brielle, I felt reluctant to do so because, for the first time in a long while, I thought we were on good terms. For the first time since I saw her standing in her father’s office, she had laughed with me openly. For the first time, we were able to reminisce about a time where we had been together and things weren’t awkward I wasn’t under fire. She wasn’t actively hating me or trying to dodge me.
