In the beginning

Mellissande pov

"Mellissande, would you get yourself off that bed else you would have me to answer to", my mum shouted from the kitchen," mum, I just want to have a little time in bed, I promise I will be up before you know it," I replied groggily, "Little time my foot, today is your first day in high school you dull head," she shouted.

 My name is Mellissande Thwaites Rose. I am from a humble family of four. My mum is a single parent. My mum, me and Alexander. Alexander is my kid brother, we are from different fathers, my mum does not like talking about my dad, My mum and stepfather divorced, They had a huge fight when I was twelve, it started when my stepfather started drinking away his income, it got worse when he started gambling, and it got worse when he became violent and adulterous. My mum left him when he beat my kid brother who was only four, till he fainted and landed him in the hospital. That was the last straw my mum could take, and she filed for divorce. We fed from the little income from mummy's stall. It is not a huge stall, so it does not really serve us very well, but we will still manage to feed from it. I have to get up now. I could hear the creaking of the stairs and the stomping of mum's foot,"I am up." I screamed and threw the cover away from my body as the door to my room was flung open." You shouldn't have been up, you dim wit and I would have whacked your head with this" my mum said whacking the air with the slipper in her hand,"whatever" I muttered,"Mellissande Thwaites Rose, say that out loud if you dare", my mum said taking a threatening step towards me,"nothing ma," I said hanging my head lowly, my mum left and slammed the door angrily. My mum might act all tough, but she is the nicest person ever. I sighed sadly. I really don't want to go to school, I just want to be homeschooled. It is always boring in school.    

Author's Point of view

"Peep peep peep," A car horned in front of Mellissande's gateless house, a beautiful blonde girl came out of the car. She had blue eyes, a cute button nose, full plump lips that adorned cherry lipstick. She had a love-shaped face. She was adorning a baby pink crop top with a short mini-skirt paired with black sandal heels. She knocked on the door of Mellissande's house. Mellissande's mother, Natalie, opened the door for her. " Oh! Amelia, how are you," Natalie said, pulling Amelia into a bear hug. Amelia is Mellissande's best friend. They have been friend from childhood. "Good morning Natalie". Amelia greeted her with a smile and hugged Natalie back, "Morning dear, how was your night". Natalie greeted her, "it was splendid and yours," Amelia said." Fine dear" Natalie opened the door widely for her, led her into the house and returned to the kitchen." "Aunt Amelly" Alexander, Mellissande's brother, jumped down from the table he was sitting on, "Xander!!!" Amelia cooed, happily squatting down and pulling him into a hug. "How have you been Xander" Amelia asked affectionately, "I have been fine, but I missed you" he replied and kissed her on the cheek," Awww! I missed you too," she said and pecked him back on his cheek, "where is Melly" she asked releasing Alexander from her hug," still upstairs" Alexander replied and went back to sit on the table hitting his cutlery on his plate, "Melly, Melly, Melly" she sang and skipped the stairs to Mellissande's room, she rapped gently on Mellissande's room door but when she heard no response she opened the door gently and entered, she scanned the bedroom but could not find Mellissande, "Mellissande" she called, and then she heard a splash in the bathroom and rushed in there, she found Mellissande in the bathtub "Are you trying to get yourself killed you dumb thing" Amelia asked and pulled Mellissande out of the water," Isn't it all your fault" Mellissande said spitting out the water she swallowed, "How is it my fault" Amelia asked,"You startled me", "you mean you were sleeping in the bathtub?" Amelia asked, "probably" she replied, "You naughty brat" Amelia said and smacked her back, "mum won't let me sleep, so I had to do with that "Mellissande said leading the way out of the cramped toilet into he room, Even though he room was poorly furnished it was neatly organized, Amelia sat on her bed and watched her dry herself she creamed her body before skipping to the wardrobe to pick her clothes, "Not again" Amelia screamed when she picked a worn out baggy trouser and an oversize t.shirt on it, "you are not hiding that beauty again, we are not in middle school for goodness's sake" Amelia said hitting her forehead with her hand.

Melisande was very beautiful, she had very long black silky hair that passed over her waist. She had green eyes to compliment, very fair and spotless skin, well carved eyebrows, a pointed nose, pouting red lips, with her model body. She looked more of a doll," I don't want attention" she said, putting on the clothes. Amelia sat on the bed looking at the clothes with an unfriendly gaze," Hey, stop looking at my clothes like they owe you". Mellissande said, "They do". Amelia said and looked away angrily," But they don't look that bad," Mellissande said, turning around and folding her hair in and putting on a brown short wig, "They don't" Amelia scoffed, she wore black contact lenses and oversize glasses to complete the look, "Amelia, Mellissande, will you guys come down for breakfast you are running late on time, "coming" Mellissande said and carried her black tasteless backpack," let's go" Mellissande said leading the way out of the room, they both went downstairs, "Tister" Alexander shouted from the dining chair he was sitting on," I told you it is sister not Tister, Alexander" she said and gave him a hug.
