Chapter R18 warning in this chapter lothar appears, i think that says it all but
torture: medium
dehumanization of enemies
execution of civilians
divine justice: yes
I decided not to include the murder of babies because at first it had a scene similar to the Janos Slynt in the TV series but I leave that to you if you want to mention something similar, let me know.

Before, mothers warned their children who misbehaved that the Dothraki would take them away as slaves, now even Dothraki mothers warn their children that Lothar will take them away for there is no place to hide from God's paladin

Lothar von Ruppin
the disputed lands, the place where the free cities solved their problems, it is worth little to say that it is just as I expected, most of the villages in the clash zone of the influence of the cities are looted or practically destroyed, it was just a thing to see the people are dressed in rags begging our men for something to eat.
But we must pass through that area, as unfortunately, I have to answer to a superior officer, I doubt very much that the brute that must be the general has extensive military knowledge because according to what I heard from mercenary commanders in my stay in the city of decay is about thousands of mercenaries dying every year in small skirmishes between the cities and major battles are extremely rare.
But that does nothing to change our mission to destroy Myr god knows our cause is just, it is only a matter of time before these heathens see that god is with us, but while we are in the territory of Lys I must restrain my desire to show why they follow the wrong god.
During the following week of my departure from the city we had already reached the border and I had spoken with the general in charge my mission was to take the fortified cities of the coast currently under the rule of Myr, that the mere presence of my army should be enough to make them change sides.
Apparently this is really common, the big cities, walled cities of 5-20 000 people in the area tend to change sides several times a year depending mainly on who has the biggest army in the area.
I was already saying you can't trust the heathen, they are not to be trusted, and this information only confirms the obvious, you can only kill the heathen nothing else, any other option you will have a dagger at your throat.
I had already deployed my Finns to inform me of terrain, while we have no specific area of operations we must build a camp and disarm it every day to ensure we have a place to retreat to should anything happen.
Most of the surrounding villages to no surprise were also looted, most of them burned without people, in the end I decided to send patrol to dismantle everything that could be useful for the campaign later, save all the wood we can use and pieces of iron to melt and turn them into nails or other more useful pieces.
After marching for three days, at last I had a report from the Finns that I had deployed in these lands.
''commander up ahead there is a village that is being looted by possibly enemy forces, their arrival was recently, we will be able to intervene if we ride quickly'' said one of my scouts
''So the heathens are killing each other, we'll thank you for the information go back to your post soldier'' I said as I headed off with my other men.
''I need us to ride, I want to capture the mercenaries up ahead'' I said to my knights
they simply nodded like good soldiers, and we quickly ride for 1 hour until we saw a black smoke coming out of the village.
''I see about 200 men, we outnumbered them 5:1'' I said looking through my spyglass.
''we try to capture as many as possible alive?'', said a brother captain of the Teutonic order.
''if possible, but being mercenaries look at the ones with the best armor must be the officers of the mercenaries or at least their leader, I don't care about the civilian population, kill them all or capture them for execution later'' I said looking at my men
We took our spears and charged quickly 2 of my captains split up to surround the mercenaries and reduce their chances to escape, in 5 minutes we were already entering the city in all directions.
The mercenaries tried to put up a fight, but being surrounded they were more desperate to try to flee than to fight, the fight lasted only 4 minutes until the mercenaries began to throw their weapons to the ground and surrendered.
Quickly, we began to gather them in the houses of the village, where we would hold them prisoner.
During that time, the villagers began to stare at us and finally a woman approached us.
'Thank you, good men, we wouldn't know what these evil men would have done to us if it wasn't for your help,'' said the woman kneeling down.
All my knights stared at me for intrusions.
''help them, I would say, more like a change of administration because I would never help a heathen'' I said to the woman loud enough to be heard by all.
''Gather them in the other houses and set them on fire, we have to be efficient, I don't want to be cleaning bodies to avoid diseases'' I told my men in German so as not to be understood by the locals.
For the next hour, we held our prisoners until the first columns of infantry arrived in the village
Swiftly, I went to look for a specific man Antti, one of Aleksanteri's men trained as a master torturer, if what the Finn told me is true he is as good as he is at torturing and extracting information and Aleksanteri earned his good name with the good king Friedrich III for his ability to torture enemy nobles to tell him everything.
''Antti it is good that you are here I have some prisoners that I need you to extract information from'' I said in a kindly voice
''You need them alive?'', said the Finn, looking me in the eyes.
''As long as you get the information from them, you can do whatever you want with them'' I said smiling.
''give me a couple of hours, and I'll see what I can get'' said the man looking where he has to go
''they are in the first houses of the village, they are mercenaries, they may know little, but any information is valuable'' I said pointing to the house
Antti went to his horse and took out a bag full of torture tools and went straight to enforce my will.
Bless my king's ancestors for finding such good subjects, straight to the point and few questions.
Finally, I headed to give justice to the heathens of the village, I would take advantage of their miserable lives to teach the greener soldiers what it is to kill a man, since they fulfilled the basic military service, but they have never killed and that could be dangerous in a combat that the soldiers start to get dizzy and scared for being surrounded by dead people who start to defecate because they no longer have the strength to keep their shit inside them.
In the end I decided not to burn them, but to use their bodies for a more worthy purpose, to give experience to the divine legions that bring the light of god to these lands.
I gathered most of the soldiers that came from the reach, many green and inexperienced young men still with a soft heart unhardened by the cruelties of war, I would be their father who would guide them through the hard road that awaits them.
''brave soldiers, here is the first test of the infinite difficulties we will have to overcome to fulfill the will of the divine, many of you have never seen someone killed by your own hand, here is your chance and your test kill the monsters in front of you, although they look like humans they are the worst scum of the pagan world with fake skins that resemble a human just to fool us and have the slightest chance to stab their superiors'' I said pointing to the peasants we captured
''now take your weapons and kill your enemy without mercy, as they will not show mercy to you and the slightest chance you show they will kill you'' I said giving the order.
Many soldiers complied with my orders immediately and began to slit the throats of the civilians, but there were some who did not move a muscle.
''what is going on men, should I consider this an insubordination, you know that insubordination in times of war is paid for with your life'' I said with a serious tone.
When saying the punishment that would await them almost all of them started to massacre the civilians, who beg for their lives without any result, since the brave soldiers would never hesitate to carry out their orders, but you can notice that a single soldier still had not done anything and was praying to his cross in his hand
I approached him, showing my anger with every step I took.
''what's wrong soldier, some problem with your dagger'' I said with a serious tone.
''my lord I can't do it, I can't kill innocent people, they haven't done anything against us'' he said with fear while he had his cross in his hand
''that's why we must do it now, they will attack us when we trust them'' I said with an angry tone.
''my lord... I ...can't ...can't'' the soldier kept saying.
''are you a false convert, that's why you insist on protecting them?'' I said angrily
''no, my lord, I am a faithful servant of the one true god'' said the man, a little scared.
''Then do his will, kill the heathen, kill your inner child, let the man be born, or I will make sure that your insubordination does not affect the others'' I said in his ear.
After hesitating a few seconds, the soldier took his dagger and slit the throat of the man who was tied in front of him.
''Good job, God is pleased soldier, you have passed one of the most difficult tests God has given us, to know how to distinguish a good person from a filthy heathen''.
I was watching until the last peasant was executed, and I left very happy leaving my men praying and vomiting for having taken the first step to be true soldiers of god.
We built camp, and I was getting ready to sleep when I was interrupted by one of my knights.
''sir lothar Antti has managed to get something interesting out of a mercenary'' said the knight.
''oh great, this day can't get any better'' I said to the knight.
I walked very fast to the houses where Antti was working when I entered the biggest house I could see many bodies scattered around the house which were almost unrecognizable broken legs, the fingers of the hands were pointing in all directions, there was a lot of teeth scattered all over the house and in the middle was Antti with his serene face waiting obediently for my arrival.
''my lord I'm sorry for the delay they were just saying nonsense or didn't know anything, but this one knows something'' said Antti showing a mercenary who is almost destroyed by torture.''
Antti threw water on him to wake him up
''what... what... what... what... what... where am I'''said the mercenary with problems, as he was missing more than half of his teeth.
''Tell him what he told me'' said Antti to the Teutonic knight accompanying him.
''what did you tell the torturer'' said the Teutonic knight in Latin.
''aaaa..aaaa..aaaa..aaaa..aaa I..I..I..I..am a mercenary...I work....I work for tyrosh yes tyrosh and...and....and we took control of the coastal cities.... and our leader.... said that we could...plunder the surrounding towns....'' said the mercenary with much difficulty
''the numbers that only matters'' said Antti, showing him the tweezers to pull teeth.
''The torturer says the numbers of your army is all that matters'' said the Teutonic knight.
''hmmm..hmmmmmmm 11000 to 17000 are.... taking..... control of the area, that's all I know.... please let me go I have a family to feeeeeeeeeeee''said the mercenary as Antti slit his throat.
''that's all my lord, everything else is worthless information, since they don't know where the main army is, only that they are around the area'' said Antti while wiping off the blood
''good job Antti you are one of the best soldiers I ever had the good fortune to be under my command'' I said pleased.
''thank you, my lord what should I do with the rest of the prisoners'' said the Finn looking me in the eyes
''have them executed, send them to the soldiers of the reach many should learn what it is to kill a man, so it is better they learn it now than the hard way fighting a battle'' I said turning around to return to my tent.
''So shall it be done, my lord'' said Antti before I left
Good times and good soldiers, what more can an officer like me ask for.
This is the first step in bringing these heathens to justice, they will learn why the Hohenzollern name is untouchable.
