Diego aka Arrow’s POV
“Sir. I’m sorry, but there seems to be an accident up ahead,” Tony, my uncle’s driver, yelled through the center window of the ostentatious limo that awaited me upon walking out of my uncle's estate.
Hesitant silence settled around Marcell and me since leaving my uncle's estate. I found myself wanting to apologize, to explain to him why I was acting the way I was in some lame attempt to get my cousin to stop giving me the cold shoulder. I wanted to tell him about the confirmed threat to Katie's life. I wanted to tell him how it tied to mine. To get him to promise me he’d protect her.
But there was a change in Marcell. It was subtle. It was the way his eyes lit up when his phone buzzed. A settled contentment. I could only hope that maybe Marcell was afforded something that I had only tasted. The freedom to love.
