Chapter 32

I woke up bright and early with excitement. Today was the day. I was finally going to be able to communicate verbally and I could hardly wait for Lady Emmi to come and get me. I desperately wanted to spread my aura around me to make it easier to get ready for the day, but I was afraid to do so before she told me that it was okay to do so. I used the pot and washed my hands, then my face and chewed on some leaves that tasted somewhat like mint before spitting them back out and rinsing my mouth. Lady Emmi had introduced me to this way of getting fresh breath and after using it, I decided that I would continue if at all possible from now on. Then I sad on the stool and waited for Lady Emmi to come and get me.

I didn't have to wait long before I could hear the door creaking open.

"Good morning" Lady Emmi said to me. I smiled and tapped on my throat with a questioning expression. "Not just yet. Let's get you a bath and some clean clothes first."

I felt very grateful. I felt gross and hated the feeling. I nodded with enthusiasm and she brought me to a large room filled with the sound of flowing water. It was humid, but still smelled nice. She showed me her custom of bathing which entailed washing outside the large bathtub and then getting in to rinse off and relax. I reminded me very much of the japanese way of washing from my previous world. I was quick and tried not to take too long and then put on the super soft outfit she had laid out for me.

Again I didn't wait long before Lady Emmi had come to get me for my medication. I took it and then she examined the inside of my mouth and the outside of the throat was well as my pulse.

"Excellent!" Lady Emmi said sounding pleased. "You are healed enough to talk and your energy level is high enough for you to spread out your consciousness. Let's have first meal" and with that she picked me up and off we went to what would be considered a tea room since it was so much smaller than a diningroom.

First off I spread my aura away from me. I realized that she was right, that it wasn't as strong as it was before the ceremony, but I still had a decent range. I also realized that Lady Emmi did not in fact live along like I had assumed from all our interactions. There were in fact other people living and working in the house, but seemed to stay quite far away from me. I also came to realized that Lady Emmi's house was huge and that I couldn't really 'see' Lady Emmi.

"Why...can...not...see...you?" I asked in a raspy halting voice that shocked me. I hadn't consciously thought about what my voice would sound like, but I guess i must have subconsciously, because what came out, wasn't what I was expecting to hear.

"Why...voice..." I didn't know how to say weird or odd.

Lady Emmi gave a little chuckle. "Of all the things I thought you would say first, that wasn't it." I didn't get mad since she sounded good natured about it.

"I have a...shield you might say around myself. It is for protection and makes me invisible to the people who would desire to harm me. As for your voice. It is still recovering from the poisoning and it has been unused for more than a year. Give it some time. It will sound better as you use it."

I had been less than a year old when I had lost my voice. Many of the words I now knew mentally how to say, but my mouth and tongue were not cooperating. While eating breakfast, I made a plan to spend a good amount of the night practicing speaking so that I didn't sound so ridiculous.

After breakfast, Lady Emmi brought me out to what had become my favorite spot to cultivate. This time the sun was rising and I could see more of the red particles and none of the purple. Lady Emmi left me alone in the garden as she said she had something to take care of. I nodded my head in response and smiled, then closed my eyes and spread my aura even further. I found that the trees and grasses and bushes; all plant life had concentrated green light particles surrounding them. I moved over to them and gathered them to me using the same cultivation technique that Lady Emmi had shown to me the day before. I walked around gathering huge amounts of the green light particles and guiding it to the green cave that resided in me.

Suddenly a green child appeared before me and for some reason I could see him clearly. He was so cute with his green hair and eyes and green overalls. I realized that he wasn't really a child. He was floating and was very tiny, but his features looked slightly older than myself. He wore a sweet smile that made me want to smile back.

"Who...are...you?" I asked.

"I don't have a name" he replied. His voice was soft like a gentle breeze slightly moving through the leaves.

"Want...name?" I asked awkwardly.

He nodded and smiled. He was completely green and so I decided on Jade.

"How...bout...Jade?" I asked looking at his face closely in case he didn't like that name.
