After the verdict was announced and Mr. Siapno was being taken away to prison, I was elated, my hands shaking in excitement so much that I had to keep them in my pockets.
I began moving towards my car, but my phone rang, and I was surprised by what I heard as I spoke, "What did you mean Mr. Siapno made a run for it!?"
As I listened to the frantic voice on the other end of the line, my heart raced with a mix of anticipation and worry. Mr. Siapno, sentenced to a lifetime in prison, had somehow managed to escape custody.
"Where is he now?" I demanded, trying to keep my voice steady despite the chaos swirling inside me.
"He fled the scene in a car waiting outside the courthouse," the voice on the phone explained breathlessly. "We've alerted the authorities and set up roadblocks, but he's proving difficult to track down."
