CHAPTER 32

"Are you okay?" Mel asked me as she took the cup of water from my hand and placed it down

"Yeah, I guess" I said as I leaned my head on the headboard slat. I tried getting down from my bed again but, as always, Mel stopped me

"Stay" she ordered

"I'm fine, Mel"

Ever since my mind became clear, she made me stay on the bed. I tried to tell her that I was okay but, she just wouldn't listen

"You said you guesses"

"I'm sure now"

"That was by the way, I'm not letting you out of this bed no matter what you say"

"What of work?" I asked with hope

"It's just after three in the morning" she said making my hope vanish with the air

I opened my mouth to say something but, nothing came out when she gave me a I dare you to say something look

"Good" she said when I closed my mouth

For a while, no one said anything

"Aren't you curious?" I asked her

Once again, I'm the one to break the silence

"Are you kidding? Of course, I am" she said looking at me

"Then why aren't you asking?"

"I don't know if I should ask"

"What do you want to ask? I'll see if I can answer you" I joked knowing fully well that there was nothing that I couldn't tell her. She already knew the deepest part and the nightmare wasn't even a big deal. They are just what I call my normal dreams

"The nightmares. It's about that day, isn't it?" she asked

"Yes"

"Since when did it start?"

I went into thinking

"Now that you ask that question, I can't really point out exactly when. Maybe since the day after John died?"

"What?! Since then?"

"No need to be surprised, it's normal"

I shouldn't have said that. I crouched over as she hit my stomach with force

"Are you out of your already lose mind. That means you've been having nightmares for over ten years" she said

"Actually, it gets better when you..."

"Get use to it?" she completed my statement folding her hands

"Are you trying to kid me right now? Do I look like I still wear pampers? What arrant nonsense!" she said

"I though it might work, and no, you don't look like you wear pampers" I answered her questions

She gave me a look

"Do you think I said that for it to be answered?"

"Well, I though since you asked a question, you would want it to .."

"Jace!" she exclaimed and I laughed

"I'll be fine, seriously" I assured

"How? Do you think it will stop coming because you say 'Hey nightmare, if you bother me again, I'm so going to smash your ass'?" she asked

"Maybe?"

I crouched over again when she hit my stomach

"Do you want to die?" she asked

I sat back up straight and held her hands

"Please, no. I have to live for you" I told her

"Get out" she said tossing my hands away but, I could see her smile and that made me smile

"You really don't need to worry, I think it will leave soon"

"And how do you know that? Are you a psychic?" she asked

"It stopped for a while before today. I guess it was the video that brought it back but, more vivid" I said thinking back to the video

"It went?" she asked curiously

"Uh huh" I answered

"When?"

"When I brought you here?"

"Why did it stop?" she said

I smiled and edged towards her, our nose nearly touching

"Because of someone"

She pushed me back, smiling but, I guess with more force than she expected. I hit my head on the headboard hard

"Jace! Oh my goodness. Are you okay? I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to push you with that force, I promise"

With her concern, I decided to act. I grabbed my head and made very painful noise while she continued apologizing. I continued for few second before I stopped to prevent her from fainting

I looked at her and smiled

"Are you that worried?" I asked her

"What the heck?" she said and made to go back to where she was sitting but I curved her waist and pulled her towards me. I looked at her and with all my heart,

"I love you, Mel" I told her

She smiled

"I love you too, Jace" she said

I smiled and kissed her with all the love I had

"Hi Helen" I greeted her

"Hi Jace. Fancy seeing you here"

"I know, right. This will be the first time since I started working"

"That it is" she said

"Is Alex inside?"

"Yes, wait a minute" she said and picked up the office phone

"Alex, Jace is here and would like to see you" she said and waited a while

"Okay, I'll let him in" she said and placed down the phone

"You can enter" she said with a smile and I smiled back

"Hey Jace"

"Hi Alex"

"I'm thinking on what could have brought you here. You never come here" he said and I agree with him

"I agree with you. I came to thank you for yesterday"

"Oh, that was no problem but, I'm thinking it must have been really something for you to come into my office"

"Yeah it was" I paused

What was I going to tell him?

"Alex, about yesterday. The reason why I asked you.."

"You don't have to say it now" he said

"Sorry?"

"I can clearly see the conflicted look on your face. Say it when you want to and if you don't, it's okay, I'll understand" he said

I signed in relieve

"Thank you so much Alex" I told him honestly

"It's okay"

I went to the other reason I came to his office

"This's what we found" I told him and placed the hard drive on his table

"What's this? A hard drive?" he asked then raised his head up, his eyes surprised

"No way"

"Yes. Apparently, there's was a hidden camera in her house that he didn't know of. Mel saw it and then I found the hard drive" I told him and was expecting him to ask if this was why I asked him what I asked him but, he didn't

"Wow, this is amazing. You are amazing, Jace"

"Thanks but, please don't say that around Mel, I'm not ready to die just yet" i told him and he laughed

"Of course" he said

"Okay, I'll go now" I told him

"Sure. We'll have a conference in twenty minutes"

"Okay" I turned back to him when I reached the office

"Alex" I called

"Yeah?"

"You really are the best boss someone can work with" I told him

He smiled and I smiled back then left

"See you later, Jace"

"You too, Helen" I told her

"Our amazing partners have helped us greatly" was the first thing Alex said in the conference room. He brought out the hard drive and showed everyone

"What's that?" Jade asked

"A hard drive" Mel answered

"I know it's a hard drive. What I'm asking is how that's helping us great.." he stopped and looked at us, everyone joining him with realization except from Alex

We just smiled

"Apparently, he might be smart and skilled but, he still makes mistake" I told them, confirming their thoughts. Jade raised two thumbs at us

"We have him" Olive said

"He's so dead" Sky said

"I can't wait" Ken said

"This is amazing" Jade said

Mel and I just looked at ourselves and smiled. After a while, Olive played the footage. Mel looked at me and I smiled at her, reassuring her that I am okay. She had suggested that I stayed away when the footage is played but, I told her that I was okay. I'm actually okay

Thirty minutes

It's been thirty minutes since we've watched the footage but still, not a word has been said

"That psycho" Ken said

"That lunatic" Olive said

"That crazy garbage" Sky said

"He's really crazy" Jade

Alex didn't say anything and his expressions didn't seemed at if he just watch it so, he must have watched it before the meeting. After a moment of silence, he spoke up

"Let's go to the control room" he said
