Zain landed on the ground while looking at the aftermath from his attack, Chron joining in soon after

"Did that get him…?" Chron asks this aloud, but soon finds his answer as the clouds thin out and a silhouette seemingly floats in the air.

"Lightning cannon...that felt more powerful than a cannon truth be told."

The duo look on in shock as the masked mage is floating in the air, a golden sphere covers them. Chron looks on in worry, while Zain's face is contorted in a mixture of confusion and rage.

"What…..the hell?"

"Surprised how I survived? It's quite simple really." The masked mage lowers their hand as the sphere falls with it, leaving them open for attacks again. Underneath his feet, small bubbles of water float forward and uplift him. "Completely purified water cannot conduct electricity. Thus making a great shield against any powerful lightning type spells."

Zain's face almost loses all its color as he watches his enemy slowly land back on the ground. "That's impossible….you used lightning earlier! How the hell do you have two affinities for magic?!"

"Oh? Is that what you were talking about…?" A small chuckle leaves his mouth as he summons his hand forward, causing both lightning and water to flow forth in the form of a whip.

"The answer is simple. I can wield both." The fluid movements quickly turned sharp as he began attacking. The lightning infused water whip began destroying the already broken up ground before it started moving towards the stunned Zain. Just as the attack was about to reach him Chron dragged him to the side, only to suffer the attack to his leg. The two landed on the ground, just having barely missed the attack.

"Hey! Now isn't the time to be stunned by something like that! You'll die if you get hit with something like that!" Chron was quick to yell into Zain's ear, bringing him back from his fearful state. However as he looked down to Chron's leg he found it was badly wounded, fresh blood pouring out and scarred tissue being left behind. His teeth grit as he shoved Chron off and went back on the assault.

"Dammit…..DAMMIT!" He swore in anger before firing off more crimson javelins towards the masked mage, however more spheres appeared that canceled out his attack. As he continued to attack, water began covering the floor and slowing his speed down. When he stepped his footing would be broken and a torrent of water would crash against his body, sending him across the room. His back was pushed up against a pillar that was still erected. He groaned in pain before falling to the ground again.

"What happened to all that fervor from before?" A cocky remark left his adversaries mouth as he pressed both his hands together and aimed right at Zain's defenseless body. Water began gathering in his hands before stopping.

"Piercing shot."

Zain hurriedly looked up before leaping out the way. Compressed water had pierced the stone in the exact position his head was at. Blood began trickling down his face as he dodged around the room. Pressurized shots of water continued to track him down before he made a break and charged towards the masked mage, but one step was all it took for his leg to be grabbed from underneath him, causing him to fall to the floor. Water began coiling around him and held him in place as he could only struggle to break free.

"Shit!"

A shadow was cast over his head as he looked up, only to see multiple blades of water aimed directly at him.

"Water blades."

With a simple command the daggers all rushed down at Zain with incredible speed. They pierced and tore through his body, causing him to cough up blood. The grip around his leg tightened before lifting him off the ground and swinging him around wildly, throwing his body into the destroyed tower around them.

"Zain!"

Chron struggled to stand up before making a mad dash towards his enemy, but with his injured leg he didn't make it far. Water bound his arms and legs before forcing him against the wall. The masked mage looked over to him before simply placing a finger against his mask, signalizing Chron to be silent.

"Relax. And enjoy the show."

Zain's body was still being flung through concrete and metal before being tossed up into the air, where lightning struck down against his body. The water reacted and increased the voltage, dealing more damage to him as he screamed in agony. The attack stopped and his body started falling to the ground before crashing into the rubble down below. He laid within a crater formed from his own body. The masked mage slowly walked forwards to look over Zain's broken down form, but was forced to dodge a bolt of lightning coming from him.

"Of course you wouldn't go down with just that." With a tired voice, the leader of Osiris spoke his annoyance with the situation.

"This...bastard…." Zain forced his broken and battered body out from the ground. His bloodied form rose up as lightning coursed around his body. He grit his bloodied teeth before channeling all the strength he had left. "Don't sell me short…!"

"Your ungodly levels of endurance are the only thing I've sold short. I'll end this quickly." The air heated up as golden white flames sprouted from the masked mage's back and surrounded Zain. In his weakened state he didn't have much energy to resist the attack and could only take it head on. He raised his arms up to protect himself while analyzing the situation.

"Now he's got flames?!"

The water at his feet began boiling at a high temperature, forcing him into the air, where he was then slammed into with a stone hammer. Zain was tossed through more rubble before landing against another stone construct that came from the ground. The lightning coursing around his body dispersed as he fell to the ground, utterly defeated. His vision grew blurry and weak as he laid on the ground. He could barely move his now broken body, his blood spilling onto the ground. Through his blurry vision he could see the boot of his enemy before he was lifted up by his hair and off the ground. The roots of his hair strained to stay attached to his head as he dangled off the ground.

"Broken, like so many before you. All you and your futile attempts at resistance have ever given me are headaches. Again and again you have interrupted my plans, and again and again you have been beaten down." The masked mage gripped Zain's throat tightly enough to crush it, causing him to hack up more blood. In a desperate attempt Zain gripped the arm that was holding him up, trying to break the grip around him, but it was all futile. Chron could only watch on in horror as his body was still restrained and bound to the wall.

"It's time I stopped playing around…" Golden white lightning formed in their hand before a gigantic claw appeared. It's razor sharp edges glimmered in the night before quickly piercing through Zain's chest. Flesh tore open and bones shattered as a fatal blow had been delivered. Crimson blood covered the floor even more as Zain's grip started fading, and the light of life in his one eye faded away.

"ZAIN!" Chron screamed in worry for his friend, but he knew all too well that his life had been ripped from his body in that single attack.

"Your foolishness is all you have left to blame. Had you not done anything, you could have lived your life under my rule. Such a waste of talent…." Those were the last words Zain could hear in his deathly state. As the claws were ripped out from his chest, his corpse was tossed to the side of the tower, and fell down into the chaos down below.

'So...this is how I die.' Were the words that came into Zain's dying mind in his last moments. He thought back on two people, silhouettes of crimson and silver hair came into his mind as he slowly closed his eye. 'Mother....Scarlet….I'll be joining you soon…'

He had accepted his fate. Death was upon him, and he could do nothing to fight it. His corpse reached the ground, and all light had left him.
