Showing them the difference
Thomas and the five Generals stood in front of an open field. In front of them, there stood 100 elite soldiers. They all looked at Thomas with surprise while some were jealous of him. They gossiped among them, wondering, why would they allow Thomas to stand in the same place as the Generals. They couldn't understand what qualification did Thomas have that made him attain that position.
Thomas did not care about the soldiers in front of him. He was thinking about how to get his hand on the materials to make the formation flags without stressing himself. He had deliberately asked his battalion to come late in his letter.
After waiting for an hour, the soldiers began to grumble, complaining. They looked at the Generals waiting for an explanation. However, the generals ignored their complaints. They were looking at Thomas frequently, waiting. They were trying to contain their anger, displaying an amicable smile to the soldiers.
