Chapter Twelve: Peace: Abandon

The seer gasped loudly and seemed to be in great pain. A part of her hair turning white instantly. Her eyes now shifted into their original color and she let out a scream. Her body letting out smoke but there was no fire. I stared at her unsure of what to do as this had never happened. I brought her water and seeds for the pain but she just threw them on the floor. Awaiting for a few moments, her screams died down and she let out heavy breathes.

"Your life is about to change child, for the worst or the better I am yet to know, but let the spirit lead you home." She chanted as she moved around the hut. Throwing clothes to the ground. What is going on?

"Seer what is going on? Where are we going?" I asked

"Not we. You." She said

"ME!" I screamed in confusion

"You were still training me where will I know where to go? How to find her? How will I survive without you?" I continued as tears gathered in my eyes.

"I will ALWAYS be with you but do not fail. Otherwise, we are doomed." She said as she gasped things into her bag.

"How will I know where to go?"

"Your heart is the map, your choices are a guide. Listen to the wind. Listen to the spirits and you will not be lost but found."

"But-"

"But nothing. You are ready."

"How do I know that when you talk as if we're dead? As if you are dead." I cried out as I rushed to her.

"I've been prepared. Now it is your turn." She said with a small smile.

"Seer" I murmured as I followed her.

"No child. Do as I've said. Survive."

"I'm afraid," I whispered and she stopped then turned to me.

"We all are that's why you need to find her, to help us all survive. You will as you choose." She whispered. We heard screams and horses. Light traveling in speed and my heart raced. I looked at her and saw that she was already dressed for battle. I hadn't changed from our battle and the weapons were on me ready to draw.

"No," she stated

"You will leave me to this fight alone. You will go." She continued. I shook my head after all the training and her being my watcher. She asked me to abandon her.

"No please don't." I began to cry and she slapped me.

"You will not be a weak child. I trained you. Now do as your told. There is a horse not far from here. follow your heart, the spirits await." She said with a sense of plea. The man were getting louder, I could hear them and I knew she could too. She chanted something and fire arose out front to hold off the man. Her feet sweeping beneath as if a dance and the wind blew with such fierceness.

Satisfied she turned to me and held my face chanting something then kissing my forehead. She then pushed me towards the back.

"Run! Run! And if you know what's good for you, you will not choose him." She demanded. Tears brimmed in my eyes as I gathered the clothes from the floor.

"Who's him?" I questioned as I tried to focus. She turned around and her eyes widened with fear as we heard the man. They were drawing closer.

"Leave those things! They will slow you down. Quickly! Take the bag from behind the door, it has enough rubies and supplies to help you survive for a while. Now stop being a stupid child and RUN!" she shouted pushing me towards the back door. Tripping over the clothes, I hurried to the bag to grab it. Once safely on my back with the straps tightened, I opened the door, I paused a few feet away and turned to thank her. As soon as I tried, I was blown into one of the trees within the forest, my ears screeching and my eyes blurry from the smoke. As I tried to gather myself I heard the voices get louder in the background.

"You better find her! Otherwise, I will skin all of your children and wives in front of your eyes!" a man's voice demanded. It caused fear and determination to curse through the air so much that I could taste it. I coughed out blood and no mattered how much I wanted to go back to find her.

All I could remember was her fearful eyes and her scared voice saying:

RUN!

That was enough motivation for me to push into a full-blown sprint deeper into the dark forest. Tears streaming down my face…I didn't even know her name.
