Chapter 9: The City in Peril!

The next day, when the sky was just beginning to light up, Max got up, washed up, and drove the old car towards the nearest big city.

The others were still asleep.

It wasn't until they were about to enter the city that Jacob was the first to wake up. Subconsciously, he reached out with his left hand to touch the Omnitrix on his right wrist, feeling its presence.

He sat up, rubbed his slightly narrowed eyes, adjusted to the light, and then climbed down from the bed.

Because there were three people, their beds were bunk beds, so Jacob slept on the third level and had to climb up and down.

"Good morning, Grandpa."

Jacob nodded to Max and walked to the bathroom to wash his face, brush his teeth, put on clean clothes, and sat down, starting to fiddle with the Omnitrix. Even though he had had it for a whole day, he still found the watch fascinating.

"If the system can strengthen my alien hero, it should be able to strengthen this little watch too! Maybe it can awaken the ultimate mutation of the little watch ahead of time, or get a new alien hero!" To Jacob, the Omnitrix was not the biggest concern; the system was.

"Jacob, buckle up!"

Just then, Max, who had been driving attentively, reminded Jacob with a serious tone.

Jacob suddenly realized, put down his wrist and an empty plate, and quickly buckled up!

Sure enough, the old car began to sway from side to side, as if constantly avoiding the vehicles in front!

Through the window!

Jacob saw a large truck whizzing past the old car!

There seemed to be several masked robbers on the truck, holding some kind of rifle, glaring ferociously at Jacob.

"These people... robbers?"

Jacob's face immediately pressed against the cold glass, his eyes eager to see the situation ahead through the window!

Not far away!

A residential building was on fire, and people inside were still calling for help. Layers of people surrounded the building, some were using buckets to put out the fire, and some were calling the fire brigade, but they were all too late to rescue those inside!

"A group of robbers broke into the residential building, robbed the citizens of their money, set fire to cover their escape, and finally left in a hurry!
