Hidden mystery 3

"ha ha ha…ha ha." Liam let out a loud laugh. He couldn't hold himself. The way she stumbled towards the bed and how she ended up being drenched with the bowel of water on her head was really funny to him. She looked funny, her dark black hair was drenched with dirty water making her hair to curl and look rough. This always happens to her hair, whenever it gets wet. it changes from silky black to curly rough rubbish.

"Are you okay? Ha ha ha…ha ha ha" he tried not to laugh. he can't help it but laugh whenever the scene replays on his head. He knew that Sandra will be really upset with him for not trying to catch her and laughing at her on top of it.

"dra…am sorry…he he" he uncovered her face. by then her eyes were tightly shut with veins around it like she was really angry. "sorry…next time I won't let you fall." he chuckled at the end of his sentence he couldn't hide his amusement.

Sandra sat there motionless. She didn't make a sound or tried to stand up. No movement at all like a stationary tree. so unlike her. she was taking long to react, to shout at him for watching her fall.

It was no longer funny to him. He had to pull her "Sandra am really sorry I was not able to catch you." He pulled her the second time before she slowly opened her eyes. The instant she opened her eyes, it changed back to its normal color which was oblivious to Liam. She stood up and left.

She returned with a mop and began mopping the floor. "Liam, something is wrong with me." She suddenly uttered, bringing her actions to a stop. she looked devastated.

"What's wrong?" he asked worriedly.

*traan traaaan* they both jolted when the sound of the doorbell rang.

"mom is back." Liam said lightly as he rushed towards the exit of Sandra's room but then hesitated for few seconds before he walked back and dragged Sandra along to welcome their mother. He was worried about her to even leave her alone for few minutes.

"welcome back, how was the interview?"Liam greeted his mother as soon as he opened the door and asked diligently.

"they canceled the interview. The job has been taken but their CEO assured to call me back in the next three days" Jade yawned exhaustedly and replied while she dragged herself along the corridor. on getting to the edge of the corridor that leads to the sitting room, she saw Sandra standing there looking lost.

"what happened?" Jade asked her with concerned but tired tone.

Jade weary voice brought Sandra back to reality. She immediately replied her mother with a faint forced smile on her face trying to hide her mood not to get her mother worried but Jade saw through her fake smile.

"…" Sandra noticed her mother wasn't falling for that. she was becoming more worried. she replied with a totally different expression like everything was fine. "nothing mom, am happy you nailed it at the interview. Margate's groups will definitely be regretting…"

"there was no interview" Jade cut her off. "...but am sure I will definitely get this job" Jade suddenly smiled thinking that Sandra's reaction earlier might be because she wasn't able to have the interview. Sandra must have heard her conversation with Liam earlier.

"yes, yes, yes, you worry too much. I will certainly get this job." Jade said confidently with a delightful smile that couldn't hide she was exhausted. she knew that Sandra was blaming herself for her being unemployed at the moment. "Now, carry these grocery bag to the kitchen." Jade handed the bag to her and playfully pushed her lightly towards the direction of the kitchen. She threw herself on the couch yawning widely.

Liam casually sat on the couch opposite Jade's. "flies will soon fly into your mouth. You must be tired." He stated indifferently.

"yesss"

Liam lightly asked. "How did you secure the job without an interview?".

She revealed a smile and glimpsed at her son with a light grin "well Mr. Donte is one of the big partner of Margate's group. He offered me a position in his company while I was working for Margate's but I rejected his proposal. Luckily, I met him today at his company for the interview. We had a chat and he asked me to return in the next three working days." Liam picked up the remote and turned off the air condition when he noticed his mom rubbing her hands together due to cold as she narrated her journey.

"oh, it's not difficult for professionals to get a job." He said smiling and dropping the remote at the same time. "Mom?" he called out to his mom in a low tone. the smile on his lips suddenly froze.

"yes" Jade unconsciously answered. Her eyes were beginning to close.

Liam kept quiet for some seconds with no expression as he thought whether to ask her or not, then he finally said "never mind" after considering giving her some time to rest, since she was so tired. Telling her what happened today right now would get her worked up.

"mmh…I better refresh and prepare dinner before I get sleepy." Jade moaned as she slowly stood up when she noticed that she was sleeping off. She sluggishly dragged her tired body towards her room but abruptly stop in front of her door when she recalled that Liam was talking to her. "what were you saying?"

"I will tell you later…I'm hungry."

"don't worry, I will be fast." She dashed into her room and shut the door behind her.

"be fast, I'm famished" Liam shouted lazily from the couch.

He looked towards the kitchen when he slightly saw a shadow move. It was Sandra. She stood there motionless, lost in her thought. She looked frightened.

"hey, what are you doing there? come here." he commanded her. "you won't die anytime soon, why are you acting like your time has come? What is wrong with you?".

She walked up to him "…what if mom knows nothing about this, what if she didn't notice any change? What next? Will we forget this like it never happened? What if it repeats itself? Why all this? What went wrong?" Sandra soliloquized. She looked so pale and bothered.

"hey, calm down…we have to try and find out what happened." Liam answered with uncertainty written on his face. Even him himself, he doesn't know what to expect. He doesn't know what to do next if his mother didn't have a clue on what happened. "It won't repeat again but… it doesn't mean we will igno…"

Sandra cut him off immediately "it will, something is wrong with me…I saw a vision of what you said had happened earlier this morning, like I wide awake watching the whole scene. I looked monstrous." she sobs looking at her hands with frightened expression. "…Am I a demon?"

he stood up instantly "no…no Sandra you are not. Demons don't exist, don't allow all those fantasy influence your thought…" he raised her bent head to face him "look at me, there is a scientific explanation for all these. You are fine…you are perfectly human."

"…"

He tried to ease her worries although he was also worried. he was also thinking about what she said, she saw a vision. How is that possible? Is possible anyway since she grew red nails overnight "what did you see?" he asked curiously.

"I watched the whole morning incident unfold in my eyes. It was like I was standing there watching."

"when?" he asked. He didn't notice any change in her. In the movies, when the character sees a vision either the wind blows or he/she will float. But none of this happened to her. I have been with her since I woke up. did she see the vision while I was asleep? he thought.

"when I slipped with the bowl of water. I felt a lot of energy in me…Liam it felt weird but…good I hate to admit. next thing I saw was, i standing aside with Mogo watching the whole scene."

"Mogo?" Liam murmured trying to figure out who that was.

"I wasn't frightened by her presence rather I felt protected. When we got to the part after the blackout, I was struggling to breathe and felt like someone was strangling me, Mogo pulled the hem of my night gown. then, I was able to regain consciousness again…"

"Mogo? That's the witch' s dog" Liam remarked immediately he finally recalled who Mogo was. 'What a weird name?' he always thought whenever he hears Miss Wevon call out to her dog.

Sandra held his hand. "I think we offended the witch…we offended her. Apart from her dog being present in my vision, earlier when you were eating I saw the witch through the window staring straight at me making an exploding bomb gesture with her hands." Sandra anxiously said as she pulled Liam's hands "Liam, I think the witch is behind this."

"why didn't you tell me about this?" he was shocked.

"because I felt it was irrelevant, she does weird things all the time."

"…"

Liam gave her the look, is she serious. Then, suddenly nods his head in disappointment. 'It has passed. anyway, nothing can or could be done about it now or then.' He thought. "it doesn't matter we will see her tomorrow morning before we leave for school. we can't possibly go out now, let alone to see Miss Wevon. it is already very late."

Sandra stared at him sadly and reluctantly asked with hints of fear in her eyes "…do we really have to see her?". she doesn't want to meet Miss Wevon although she had to in order to know what transpired.

"Are you stupid? I believe we might find the answer we need from her… say no more." He said firmly and suddenly remembered that her room hasn't been cleaned yet. It will scare her if she goes back there without it being cleaned. "I will go clean your room." he released her hands and turned to leave but immediately stumbled back with his eyes wide open.

He was shocked including Sandra, to see their mom behind him. None of them noticed her presence. it seem like she had been standing there for a while.
