YOU'RE AMUSING

CHAPTER 14… YOU'RE AMUSING

"I'm happy to hear that. This date, it's your idea, huh?" Selena asked with a raised brow.

Timothy's lips curled up slightly before returning to a thin line.

"What do you think?"

"I think it's all your idea," Selena said with a smile. She turned around and went into the closet.

"Give me a few minutes, I'll just find something to wear and come down." She said.

"About that…" Timothy said and cleared his throat. The door opened and Bella came in holding a box.

Without a word, she walked into the closet and dropped the box on the table and ran out.

Selena took a quick glance at the box and then back to Timothy's face. She could not make out anything as his expression remained the same, plain.

She turned to the box and began to open it. There was a sinful red dress in it, a pair of black heels, and a black purse. Selena gasped. She turned around but Timothy was already gone and she was alone in the room.

Selena took a quick shower and began to wear the dress. It was a body hug with off shoulder sleeves that fit her perfectly, as if it was made just for her. Her black hair, she let fall over her shoulders. After applying some make-up and body spray, she slipped into the heels and grabbed the purse where she threw her phone, ID card, ATM card, and a lip gloss.

Selena stood before the dressing mirror and was proud of how she looked. She could not even remember when last she had taken her time to deck up this much.

But, she was confused. If she was just supposed to be a wife for the sake of Bella, then why the date?

Selena did not have an answer to that so, she decided to forget about it. She checked herself one more time in the mirror before leaving the room. She stood outside for a few seconds before deciding to go downstairs. Maybe her dates were there.

Meanwhile, in Bella's room, Timothy had undergone a thorough makeup session that was headed by the great Bella.

He heaved a sigh of relief when Bella finally nodded over his dressing. He could finally get out of her clutches.

"Daddy, one more thing," Bella called when he was about leaving the room.and Timothy's heart sank to the pit of his stomach.

He prayed so desperately in his heart that she was not going to start one of those her spa sessions. Timothy even ran a mental check of his physical look, he had not missed anything, had he?

Bella came to stand before her father and took his hand. She smiled and waited for him to move.

Timothy sighed softly and clutched her hand softly. He led her outside the room and downstairs. From the top of the stairs, he noticed Selena standing in the middle of the room and he smiled.

To say she was beautiful was an understatement. She looked breathtaking.

Bella noticed her father's smile and looked down. She almost screamed when she saw Selena but Timothy covered her mouth with his palms.

Bella frowned, wondering why he wouldn't allow her reach out to Selena. Timothy shook his head slowly and Bella relaxed.

"Don't," Timothy whispered.

Bella nodded and they treaded softly until the last step, without Selena knocking. The carpeted rug on the stair helped to quiet the clinking of Bella's heels.

Selena sighed as she clutched her purse in front of her and turned around. She froze when she saw Bella and Timothy standing behind her.

"Just how long have you two been there?" She asked.

Timothy did not reply so Bella tugged at his trousers. He looked down at Bella who cast him a very meaningful look.

Selena noticed and looked between them in confusion. Whatever it was they were up to, she did not know.

Timothy took a step forward and stretched out his palm for Selena to take. He plastered one of his best smiled and looked right into her brown eyes.

"You look stunning," he whispered.

Selena smiled and placed a hand in his. "You don't look bad yourself, I must say"

Timothy chuckled and held Bella who was grinning at the side. Holding the ladies by both his sides, he walked out of the house where the driver was already standing before the car.

Andrew grinned and quickly opened the back door for them. He watched as Timothy helped Selena into the car before getting into it with Bella. Even he was dressed in his best suit as the boss would be going on a first date ever.

Minutes later, the car pulled up in front of a brightly rich French restaurant and Andrew came down. He opened the door for Timothy who rounded and came to open the door for Selena and Bella.

Timothy took Selena's arms in his and Bella's hand in the other and they entered inside the beautiful restaurant.

Selena could not help gasping in awe. The view was enchanting with the glass walls that carried different fishes at the side. A slow music played in the background.

Timothy walked to the counter and stood before the receptionist.

"Table for the Lancasters, please,"

The woman at the desk smiled and stood up. She asked them to follow her and she took them to a table at the far end of the room where Selena was glad she could get a perfect view of the sea creatures.

Bella sat between Timothy and Selena. She choose a middle seat as she was certain she would get the attention of the both from there.

When the waiter came with a glass of wine and fruit juice for Bella to take their orders, Bella insisted on ordering the same thing for everyone and though Timothy was against it, Selena signalled him to agree.

And so, as they listened to Bella tell them stories while they waited for their order, Selena laughed heartily. Timothy would only smile from time to time at the noisy Bella.

"Your order," the waiter returned, pushing a food tray and began arranging the dishes on the table. There were lots of seafoods, soups, salads, and more. Somehow, Selena felt that Bella had ordered the whole menu.

She leaned in towards Bella's ear and asked, "Bella, isn't this too much for just three people?"

Bella shook her head calmly and replied, "Oh, no, Miss Scott. I'll be taking some home for Drew, and grandma."

Selena nodded in understanding and turned to face the table. She sighed at the quantity of the food, it was too much. When she raised her head, she met Timothy's eyes and she shook her head lightly.

Timothy smiled faintly and nodded at her before picking up his spoon and starting to eat.

When they were done with dinner, Timothy paid and the waiter helped Bella pack the rest of the food in three separate packs. Selena wondered what the third pack was for until Timothy whispered to her how Bella was a light night snacker.

When they reached the car, Bella handed one pack to Drew who seemed elated to receive his favorite seafoods before they got into the car. Bella snuggled into Selena's chest and a few minutes into the drive, she had fallen asleep.

"You looked beautiful," Timothy mumbled without meeting Selena's gaze. He kept staring at the bright neon lights on the passing streets.

Selena looked up. His side profile was bathed by the warm lights that came in through the clear car glass. The way his black hair was cut into a short, conservative style amused her.

Timothy felt Selena's gaze and chuckled. He turned to face her and she quickly looked away. He shook his head and smiled.

"You're amusing," he said in a whisper. "One moment you're staring at me like some jigsaw puzzle and when I turn around, you're looking away."

Selena turned to him and arched a brow. She pretended not to be flustered as she held her chin high.

"You're not so handsome, you know, for me to stare at." She spat in her own defense but Timothy smiled and leaned on the car glass, without a word to her for the rest of the ride.

*****

Timothy was standing at the door of the bed when Selena came out of the closet. She was already dressed in her pajamas. She also stood at the foot of the bed and together, they stared at the bed.

It just dawned on the both of them that there was only one bed and they would have to share it.

Selena did not like the idea of sharing a bed with Timothy. Well, neither did Timothy. At the same time, neither of them wanted to sleep on the couch.

Selena sighed and turned to face Timothy. She grabbed a pillow and blanket and moved to the couch on the side and began to make her bed.

"You can take the bed, Selena," Timothy said to her, yanking the blanket from her hand. "I'll sleep on the couch."

Selena shook her head and refused. It was his house and she was the guest. If anyone was to sleep on the couch, it should be her.

"I can manage, don't worry." She said.
