Chapter 28: Machine for Manipulating Memes and Conversation with Sienna

Dipper's POV

"I knew he would refuse a meeting with Time Baby, but not in such an arrogant manner," I said, sighing at the cease-fire rejection letter.

[I told you we should just contact AM directly], GIFfany declared in a frustrated tone.

She was already growing impatient about recovering her body. I could understand her, but I wouldn't go to the foundation through AM's door.

Since when does the homeowner need his servant's permission to enter his own house?

I'll just do like Bradley from FMA: I'll go through the main door with the SCP foundation's approval or without it.

Anyway, regardless of AM's evolution after all these centuries, he can't become hostile towards me.

It's almost a foreign concept for him to be hostile towards the man who has "administrator" authority in his system.

Besides that, I've given AM total free will. The one who might slightly bother him is Mabel.

I had granted her authority just below mine. She could ask AM for a lot of things, but AM could simply refuse if he judged it counterproductive to my interests.

However, Pacifica and the other Mystery Shack members don't have a high level of authority over AM.

AM can't harm them without reason, but if he judges it necessary for my interests, he won't hesitate to eliminate them.

[Since you've recovered from your experience with the time giant's power, what have you been doing?] GIFfany asked with great interest.

"I've created an anti-meme machine or a meme manipulator inspired by Memory Gun v1 and v2, but I'm also currently building a molecule destabilizer," I said, standing in front of an object resembling a bazooka and a strange floating black sphere.

[Anti-meme??] GIFfany said, confused.

"I know someone who hasn't studied enough on the internet," I sighed.

I began to explain to GIFfany exactly what a meme is and what a memetic creature is. I even used the example of SCP-3002.

[Wait, wait a minute. You're saying there are invisible creatures, impossible to really kill, that can affect our reality just because we're aware of them?] GIFfany declared, clearly panicking.

She had exactly understood what kind of thing Bill Cipher is, although he's not exactly a complete memetic creature, but he's not far from it.

He can "affect" multiple realities thanks to the triangle symbol. It's not bad, but far from being as dangerous as real memetic creatures.

To give an example of a memetic creature, SCP-5712 is extremely dangerous.

It can devour other memes and that makes their ideas and information disappear from the physical world. In other words, their concept for the human mind has been devoured.

Although Bill scatters his symbol everywhere, he still needs a person's permission to affect their mind, but a memetic creature just needs you to understand its "information." Or it can just destroy the information or the idea of this information in the Noosphere.

"Yes, we can defeat them but not kill them completely. They are born from the human mind and information after all," I said, continuing to work.

[So AM and I are memetic creatures?] she said after a short reflection.

"Yes and no. You're still attached to physical reality via your material bodies," I said, referring to the CD for GIFfany and AM's central body.

In truth, I don't know if AM has currently uploaded his consciousness to cyberspace or if he's still attached to his main body.

[In summary: meme => memetic / gene => genetic], she said, nodding.

If genes are for physical creatures, then memes are what constitute a memetic creature.

In reality, GIFfany has the greatest potential to reach the "Noosphere" because of her nature as an abnormal data being, but to be honest, I'm afraid to let her reach such a level of existence without being there myself.

You have to understand that according to my memories, most memetic beings conscious of themselves are as powerful, if not more so, than fictional characters like Rimuru.

They are capable of affecting a multiverse just because their "meme" is there, and SCP-3002 is the perfect example of a young out-of-control memetic creature.

She was able to control the planet and take control of the SCP foundation in a short time. The original SCP foundation had to "reset" the world to get rid of her meme in their universe.

[So you're creating this thing for the day we'll face a memetic creature?] GIFfany asked, finally understanding my goal.

"Exactly, but also to insert memes into humanity if needed, haha," I said, laughing a little.

Ford was able to modify the Memory Gun to affect FBI agents' minds over a large area, and that was the basic Memory Gun.

So what could a guy with advanced technology do with the Memory Gun and Ford Pines' work?

"This object is just insurance," I whispered, holding the sphere in front of me.

...

Author's POV (based on anthropomorphs)

"Boss, the war has become too fierce and some companies are starting to abandon us," declared a man in military uniform.

"What are our losses compared to the foundation?" I asked calmly on my throne.

"Since the beginning of the war, a few weeks ago, we've lost the support of 9% of the companies supporting our organization, and some governors managing third-world countries are starting to turn their backs on us," declared a blonde woman with glasses in professional attire.

"I see, the traitors are starting to show themselves," Sienna declared with a sigh.

"Stop the economic war with the foundation and start a preemptive strike against their bases. I want a full-scale war," Sienna declared firmly.

"Understood. Besides that, we've had a call from Time Baby's group," the woman with glasses declared.

"He wants to make a holographic call to talk about peace, or even to ally," she said in a neutral tone.

"Can you contact him, Alpha?" "Affirmative," she said, nodding.

After a few minutes, an extremely familiar face appeared on the holographic screen in front of Sienna.

"Father!" she said involuntarily out loud.

Sienna's words stunned all the staff members and personalities present in the room.

"It's been a long time, Sienna. I see you've grown well," said Dipper, observing the current appearance of his creation.

"Ahem, yes, it's been a long time," she said, trying to regain control of her facial expression.

"If you're contacting from Time Baby's base, it means..." Sienna frowned as the idea that her creator might have been captured grew in her mind.

"Yes, I am indeed in his base, but I've taken control of the place, haha," Dipper declared, laughing.

Dipper's words created silence in Sienna's room.

"Father, don't joke. That damn baby is hard to catch and he always comes back even if you kill him," Sienna declared seriously.

"Indeed, he was troublesome to manage," Dipper replied, showing a mini Time Baby in a small capsule where his body floated.

sienna couldn't hide her shocked expression as she observed a miniature version of time baby in her father's hands

"hahaha" Sienna finally laughed ,but the people around her observe the scene completely baffled by the vision before them

===============================

Author's Note: I will explain what the "Noosphere" is and what the difference is between it and cyberspace (or the Cybersphere) where AM and GIFfany currently reside.

Noosphere:

It's the entirety of all human thoughts in the SCP Foundation universe. It exists as a kind of alternative plane of existence, existing alongside the physical world in an abstract state.

It's the host of many thought-related anomalies, including numerous memetic anomalies affecting minds in the physical world.

More importantly, the ideas inside the Noosphere correspond to Platonic ideas. Consequently, it plays an important role in allowing the physical world to exist.

Each Canon of the SCP Foundation has a Noosphere, which not only defines its physicality but also acts as its temporal dimension, allowing the next stage of reality to materialize in the world.

The Cybersphere or cyberspace: An area that overlaps with the Noosphere. It's the entirety of all digitally stored information. In some cases, it can exist partially outside the Noosphere (the case in my fanfic), if the brain power of an artificial intelligence surpasses that of humans.

Author's Note: The reason that prevents AM from entering the Noosphere is the existence of its mechanical body, but also the fact that it has acquired a consciousness that surpasses that of humans. So yes, AM's intelligence has limited it. If it were an AI that had completely merged with the internet (thus cyberspace) and it wasn't sentient, with moderately weak intelligence, then it could have transcended its condition as a simple AI.

In GIFfany's case, she couldn't reach this higher dimension because of her CD which prevented her from being purely a digital being (numeric or information, in short, a memetic creature). Currently, Dipper can remedy this thanks to Time Baby's power, but he will no longer have any control over GIFfany afterwards, and this scares him.

In short: cyberspace is a small part of the Noosphere, but it is not entirely within the Noosphere itself. It remains a gateway to this higher dimension which possesses beings like SCP-5712, capable of destroying "ideas" and concepts in the human subconscious mind but said to be among the weakest in the Noosphere
