Link awoke from his epiphany.

The figure of the Element Sage was no longer in the room.

To this, Link felt quite normal.

Scenes from their previous conversation floated through Link's mind.

Link tried to place himself in the Element Sage's perspective, to see himself.

After all, being involved can cloud judgment while bystanders see things more clearly.
