Chapter 21 Future

" Ugh!"

Lancelot held his stomach with a grimace on his face while looking at the duo with shock because such simple moves almost knocked him cold. Especially, Harold's kick was no joke, making him see the other side of the river of no return.

" Wait!"

He quickly went through his chest, pulling out an emblem of the Duke while holding his sick stomach back, knowing he might puke at this rate.

Obviously, Arthur who was among them knew the insignia, signaling them to halt before they beat him up like a rag doll.

" You came from a long way. Why is a man of the Duke of Wales hiding in our city? Are you some kind of a spy or a scout? Either way, you are coming with us."

Without hesitation he hit his neck with the hilt of his sword, making him lose consciousness while scanning the surrounding area with vigilance. Then he bowed down to reach for the pouch on the ground, putting it inside his pocket because clearly, this wasn't possession of these hoodlums. Besides, the embroidery on it showed that its owner was a woman because no man would have something like this. Especially if they came from the south where something like this was ear as a feather of a peacock.

" Great move. Harold, put him on your shoulder. Arne, take his sword."

Harold's giant hand reached to his waist, lifting him like he was a child while Arne took the sword from the ground. He silently turned it back and forth to inspect the quality of it, finding it was a good weapon which was made from coms steel.

Although it might be brittle for his type, it was extremely sharp and deadly for duels. Furthermore, the hardness of this sword was excellent as it was well-balanced with great care.

" Don't think about it, Arne. I will personally find you a good sword. Besides, this isn't your type, right?"

Arne laughed at Halfdan's sharp instinct, not trying to hide his greed for the sword while nodding with a hint of expectation in his eyes since his friend never broke his promise.

The four young men quickly departed from the area, leaving unconscious men on the floor with a trail of a scent of unknown. Hidden tail in the darkness followed its body while maintaining distance from the group until they reached the prison.

" Good afternoon, young lord. How may I help you?"

The new captain was a man who was trained by the Vikings back in the village and he had a big body. The iron helmet looked funny on his long face but he never dared to take it off, knowing the importance of his role.

" Hello, George. Could you place this fellow in the nice cell? We suspect that he is a spy from the North because he carries a noble emblem."

George's face quickly changed at his mention of other territory, thinking it was a bad thing because most of the nobles were no good to his eyes.

His rough hands immediately signaled his men to capture Lancelot who was still hanging on Harold's shoulder without a shred of clear mind after being knocked down multiple times during their route to here.

" Don't worry sirs, I will personally watch him. If he dared to plot against our lord, I would pull out his treacherous mouth and hang it on the wall."

Halfdan and Arthur nodded at his words, believing he would do so due to his past trauma. This man hated betrayal and grey people the most because he suffered in their hands until he joined Uther's knights, finding hope once again.

" Don't hurt him too much. Just ask for a few pieces of information and gauge his intent. We don't want any trouble."

Halfdan inserted his words, thinking of the possible outcomes which might result in retaliation at worst, so he chose a peaceful way.

" Ah, take these too. Give it to him if he is obedient."

He handed his items to George while turning his back but when he turned around he felt something unusual like someone was spying on him.

" Hmm."

Before they could ask what happened Halfdan ran toward the corner, checking it with a calm face. Fortunately, he found nothing.
