"Where is this place?"

Luo Lin slowly opened his eyes, gazing around in confusion.

It appeared to be a small enclosure within a restaurant, with him seated at a table.

But how had he ended up in such an unfamiliar setting?

He recollected staying up late last night, mindlessly scrolling through a screen until the early hours, eventually succumbing to sleep. Why had he woken up here?

This line of thought felt oddly familiar to him.

Luo Lin pondered deeply, his thoughts spiraling. "Wait a minute! Could it be...I've time-traveled?"

He couldn't help but recall how protagonists in countless time-travel novels often uttered these very words upon waking up in strange places. How could he not recognize the pattern?

"If I have truly crossed into another time, then where am I?" Luo Lin's heart raced, prompting him to scan the surroundings for any hints.

Suddenly, his attention was drawn to a small display screen directly above him on the wall.

Luo Lin watched the numbers steadily climbing and felt a faint sensation of weightlessness.

"Wait, I'm not in some restaurant enclosure. I'm in an elevator going down?" Luo Lin questioned, a puzzled expression etched on his face.

It wasn't that he was puzzled about the notion of time travel itself; he was perplexed because this scenario felt all too familiar.

Like the elevator scene at the beginning of Hunter X Hunter, the very show he had binge-watched late into the night.

"So...have I somehow ended up in the world of Hunter X Hunter? Or am I en route to the Hunter Exam?" Luo Lin could feel his head spinning with uncertainty.

He scrutinized his own hands and pajamas, finding them strangely familiar.

Even though there was no mirror to confirm, he had a strong hunch he was dressed appropriately. However, the real issue was...

"System panel..." Luo Lin whispered.

In the next moment, a translucent screen appeared in Luo Lin's vision.

"Wow, it's real!" Luo Lin's face lit up with surprise. He hadn't expected to nail the first test's password; he was indeed a time traveler!

As it turned out, not all time-travelers were created equal; this revelation was a game-changer.

Leveling up seemed straightforward, judging by the experience bar below the level; a bit of experience should do the trick.

Just as Luo Lin was contemplating his system's interface, a sudden beep, accompanied by a gentle vibration, signified the elevator's halt.

"We've arrived," Luo Lin murmured to himself, staring at the slowly opening elevator doors. After a moment's hesitation, he prepared to step out.

To be honest, now that he possessed this system, Luo Lin was tempted to skip the Hunter Exam and focus on leveling up for some extraordinary abilities.

But given that he was already at the Hunter Exam venue, it would be a missed opportunity not to experience it firsthand!

Even if he was just a spectator in the initial stages, it was worth it for the experience.

Luo Lin froze for a moment before recalling the scene from Hisoka's debut.

"So, I've arrived after Gon and the others!" Luo Lin deduced his current place in the timeline.

However, nobody seemed to pay him any mind due to Hisoka's dramatic performance.

Luo Lin wasn't too concerned; he stepped out of the elevator, leaning against the wall to watch the spectacle. At the same time, he examined the walls and ceiling of the underground passage around Hisoka.

As a Hunter fan, Luo Lin was well-versed in Hisoka's debut performance. The conclusion was that in the manga, Hisoka used his flexible aura to immobilize the man's arms, then swiftly severed them and concealed the aura on the ceiling.

In the animated version, Hisoka used his Nen to create an illusion, making it appear as if he plucked a petal from a flower.

Though the severed arm hadn't been found, this educated guess was likely accurate.

"This Hisoka doesn't seem to care if his abilities are exposed," Luo Lin observed inwardly.

While most present candidates might not understand Nen, it was safe to assume that Hunter Association examiners were nearby. A skilled Nen user could likely discern Hisoka's Nen abilities in an instant.

Hisoka, however, seemed utterly unfazed by the prospect of his abilities being revealed.
