My eyes fluttered open, and I was met with Reagan's warm smile. I was still reeling from the intense passion we had shared, and the realization that I wasn't dead, but very much alive. Embarrassment washed over me as I remembered what happened before I blacked out. My cheeks flushed, and she looked away, her lashes casting a shy shadow on her cheeks.
"Hey, you're awake," Reagan said, his voice low and husky, his words gentle and reassuring. He brushed a strand of hair behind her ear, his fingertips grazing her skin. "How are you feeling?"
Rebekah's gaze met his, and she felt a surge of emotions. Her voice was barely above a whisper. "I...I thought I was dying." She swallowed hard, her eyes dropping to the bed. "I feel so silly. I don't know what came over me."
