CHAPTER 3

As Lee prepares to leave the hospital, he is stopped by the nurse.

"Are you sure you're okay?"

Lee smiles.

"I've lost people before, but I was too young to remember. It hasn't really sunk in yet though. But I know he wouldn't want me feeling sad about this, so I'll smile and remember the good times we had together."

The nurse smiles at the boy, feeling how pure he is. As Lee walks outside, he senses something back at the school..

"A lot of crazy energy around there. Feels like... three people, fighting one strong Demon."

His eyes widen when he realizes who else is there.

"Dayeon."

He then takes off running as fast as he can to help his friend.

Meanwhile, while bloody and injured, the three Demon Hunters fight the Demon outside while Dayeon is unconscious on the ground. Mikey checks on Dayeon.

"She's still alive, just a little scratched up." Mikey says.

A sickening smile appears on the Demons face.

"Well, maybe I shouldn't have held back on that blast. Don't worry... I'll make sure the girl is the first one I devour."

The Demon charges at them but Seokju steps infront of him and charges up his Ki.

"Hyunmoo Fist!"

He throws a punch that pushes back the Demon, but doesn't do any damage. Mira then leaps into the sky, above the Demon, and prepares to shoot an arrow made of Ki.

"Cosmic Nova!"

She shoots the arrow, causing a massive explosion. When the dust clears, the Demon is still standing there unfazed.

"Is that it?" The Demon asks.

At that moment Mikey appears infront of it, charging Ki through his katana.

"Hidden Blade Technique: Battōjutsu!"

He slashes the Demon across the chest, causing blood to spill to the ground.

"He got him." Seokju says with a smile.

As Mikey takes slow and deep breaths, he is shocked when he starts hearing laughter.

"I guess I shouldn't have expected that much from you three. Afterall, you are only human children." Demon says as his chest starts to heal.

Mikey goes for a slash to his neck, but The Demon grabs his blade and drives his knee into his gut, dropping him to the ground. Mira and Seokju charge at the monster, but the Demon grabs them both by the face and slams them into the ground. As all three of the Demon Hunters are down, The Demon starts to walk towards Dayeon who is still unconscious on the ground. Mikey tries to force himself to get back to his feet.

"Damnit...get up." He says.

The Demon grabs Dayeon by the throat and prepares to kill her.

"You do look delicious." He says, licking his fangs.

At that moment Lee comes out of nowhere, kicks the Demon into a wall, and catches Dayeon from the air. The three Demon Hunters are shocked to see him.

"It's him." Mira says.

Lee holds Dayeon close.

"Dayeon... please be alright."

He listens closely to her heart beat and breathing, being relived that she's alive.

"Thank Goodness." Lee says with a smile.

He then looks over at the three Demon Hunters. He slowly walks over to them, as Mira and Mikey are cautious of him. Lee then kneels down to them and smiles.

"You three must have been the ones who protected Dayeon. Thank you guys, seriously. I owe you one."

The three of them are shocked by Lee's reaction.

"But we didn't do a good job. She got hurt because we weren't good enough." Mikey says.

"She's still alive, that's all that matters. Her injuries will heal, plus Dayeon is way tougher than she looks. I can tell just by looking at you guys that you did everything you could for her." Lee says.

The Demon then bursts out of the ruble with a few scratches.

"Ok, and who the hell are you?"

Lee puts Dayeon down gently infront of them and faces the Demon with a serious expression.

"The names Lee Ijin. And I'm about to kick your ass."

This annoys the Demon a bit.

"Damn insolent human."

Meanwhile Mira thinks to herself when she hears Lee's name.

"Ijin? Hang on... no- it can't be..." Mira says.

Seokju and Mikey are confused by her reaction.

"The hells your problem?" Seokju asks.

"He has the same name as Monroe Ijin." Mira states.

Mikey is shocked as Seokju is still confused.

"Who's Monroe Ijin?"

Both Mira and Mikey glare at Seokju.

"You idiot! He's a former legendary Demon Hunter who fought in the great war, and was the Head Captain's right hand man for years. But for some reason, he disappeared and he hasn't been seen for Sixteen years."

Lee then turns to them and smiles.

"Yep. He's my grandpa."Lee says.

Mira and Mikey are even more shocked. At that moment, the Demon appears infront of Lee while he has his head turned.

"You let your guard down, fool."

Before the Demon can even throw a punch, he is hit with a right cross by Lee knocking him to the ground.

"This guy dropped him with one normal punch? He didn't even use Ki." Seokju points out.

Lee cracks his knuckles.

"Stop acting. I didn't even hit you that hard." Lee says.

At that moment, the Demon leaps off the ground and prepares to throw a punch at him.

"You're getting on my nerves!"

Before he can throw a punch, Lee lands a roundhouse kick to his face. The impact from the kick shatters the ground and sends the Demon flying into the wall again.

"Amazing. This guy's actually beating the Demon with pure strength. No Ki at all." Seokju says.

At that moment, powerful dark energy starts radiating from the hole in the wall. The energy starts to overwhelm Mira, Mikey, and Seokju.

"Feels like he's mad." Seokju says.

The Demon starts to walk towards Lee with bloodlust in his eyes.

"I will never kneel!" The Demon yells.

At that moment, he fires a Demon Blast from his mouth. Lee's eyes widen as he realizes that the attack is too strong to block, but if he dodges it would hit Dayeon and the others. The blast then hits, causing a massive explosion.

As the smoke clears, Mikey looks around at Dayeon, Mira, and Seokju, surprised that neither one of them have a single scratch on them from the blast. He then looks at Lee in shock, as his right arm is severely damaged, blood dripping down his hand.

"What- why didn't you dodge?" Mikey asks.

Lee tries to catch his breath as he smiles.

"If I would have dodged, you all would have died. I'd rather loose an arm than let that happen. I am bummed about my favorite jacket though." Lee struggles to say.

Mikey and the others are shocked by his answer. The Demon starts to laugh at Lee.

"How foolish are you? If you would have allowed those other humans to be killed and dodged, you might have won this fight."

Lee smirks as the Demon continues to laugh.

"Who said I need two arms to beat you?" Lee says.

At that moment, Lee's body starts to radiate Red energy. The pressure of his energy shocks the Demon.

"What the hell? This energy- its different from the KI of a regular Hunter." He thinks to himself.

"Up close- his energy is way stronger than I thought." Mira says.

At that moment, Lee drops the smirk from his face.

"Don't blink." He says.

At that moment, everyone looses sight of Lee.

"Where the hell did he go?!" The Demon yells.

"He's even faster now that he's actually using KI." Seokju says.

At that moment, Lee reappears infront of the Demon, with Red Energy surrounding his fist.

"He's concentrating a lot of energy through his right hand." Mikey says.

The Demon looks at him with a nervous stare.

"RED! FLASH!"

Lee then lands the punch to the Demons chest, disbursing the energy he charged up, creating a bright red light. When the light clears, the Demon has a giant hole in his chest, where his heart used to be. Demon coughs up blood on the ground, and slowly starts to fall over.

"You... Bastard!" The Demon yells as he finally dies, his body turning into ashes.

Lee breathes out of relief and slowly walks back over towards the others.

"Are... you guys... alright?" Lee asks.

Mikey, Mira, and Seokju get surprised by the question.

"Yeah. We're fine. Your friend is alright too." Mikey says.

Lee smiles.

"Good. I'm- glad." Lee says, falling to the ground.

"He passed out?" Seokju asks.

"He lost a lot of blood when he shielded us from that Demons blast." Mira points out.

Mikey stares at the unconscious Lee, who is still smiling despite loosing blood.

"Seokju, grab him. We'll take them with us to get medical attention."

Mira is shocked by this.

"Are you some kind of idiot? You know we're not supposed to take outsiders to HQ. We'll have to take them to a local medical facility."

"These two were injured because of us. I may not know much about this guy, but it's obvious that he was never a threat to us. We're taking them with us." Mikey says.

Both Seokju and Mira stare at Mikey for a moment, then Seokju smirks and walks over to pick up Lee.

"Makes sense. We do owe him and the girl." Seokju says.

Mira grits her teeth then sighs, grabbing Dayeon.

"Fine, whatever. I hope you know what you're doing." Mira says.

As they start walking away, they are watched by a man in a cloak.

"That boy. Is definitely perfect for what's to come." He says.
