Chapter 47: In the Fading Light

I bite into a slice of pizza and snuggle deeper into the pillows, the fluffy robe encompassing my body. Saz sits beside me in his own robe as he flips through the channels for something to watch. The room service he ordered covers most of the king-sized bed. Everything from wings to pizza to shrimp cocktail lays at my feet. Saz flips past Ryan Gosling's dashing smile and I sit up. “Wait, go back.”

He flips back and Rachel McAdams runs across the beach, arms flapping in the air. My heart swells as the romantic music plays in the background. Saz looks at me as he munches into a shrimp. “You know this movie?”

“You don’t?” I balk, mid-bite. “This is only the best movie on the planet.”

“Oh really.” He looks at the screen, unconvinced. “So, it’s a rom-com?”

I playfully shove him, my slice of pizza hanging out of my mouth. I bite off a piece. “It’s not just a rom-com. It’s a love story.”

“Uh-huh.” Saz grabs a wing and settles in next to me. “Same sh*t.”
