Barbed Beast

Levi, a young child with a large build was adopted from a Russian orphanage by an English couple who lived in the countryside. However, this couple weren't as perfect as they seemed, as the burly farmer abused his wife freely, while their adopted son watched. However, after a tragic farming accident, his adopted father passed away, and Levi and his 'mother' were forced to move to the city due to their lack of income and her lack of qualifications. Now living in a large block of flats, Levi's way of life greatly changed, being abused by his mother due to his large build resembling her abusive dead husband.

Chapter 1

"Levi, say hello to your new parents, you'll be going home with them today."

A five-year-old boy with a large build, larger than his age would suggest, was standing next to an elderly nun, with a young couple in front of him.

The man was around 6'2 with a muscular body which suggested he either worked out a lot or had a manual labour job. He had brown hair, blonde eyes, and a large brown beard. The woman was quite beautiful, standing at 5'5 with blonde hair and blonde eyes, she was curvy yet slim which made her stand out greatly in comparison to other women.

The young boy in front of them, who they were adopting, looked exactly like a mixture of them despite having no relation. He had light icy-blue eyes and blonde hair like the woman, but he had the same large frame as the man.

"Hello parents, I have learned some English. Thank you for adopting me." The young boy spoke with little confidence, in a thick Russian accent.

"He's so cute honey, I can't wait to take care of you, little guy." The woman looked very excited to be adopting the boy, while her husband didn't seem all that bothered.

After the couple signed a few papers, the boy followed them through the orphanage doors and returned to their country with them.

*3 Years Later*

On a large farm in the countryside in England, an eight-year-old boy was throwing water balloons at a blonde woman, "I'm gonna get you, Mom."

"Not if I get you first you little rascal."

This boy was Levi, after living in England with his new parents for three years his English had greatly improved, and he only had a bit of an accent. His life in England had been great, his parents owned a very successful farm, and they loved him greatly.

At least on the surface, it looked great, in private the family wasn't as perfect as they seemed. His father, Paul, was quite an abusive husband, often beating his mother when he got drunk and annoyed. This wasn't done in secret though, as Levi had often seen Cordelia (his mother) being beaten brutally. None of her injuries were in places where they could be seen, and nobody suspected a thing.

Despite this, Levi was still grateful for his lifestyle, as he was leading a much better life than he had in Russia.

*Two Years Later*

Over time, the abuse between husband and wife grew more and more violent, and Levi's home life worsened. He began to hide in his room, not wanting to see the horrors outside, as the facade of the nice couple who had adopted him was wholly gone.

He was no longer a stranger to verbal abuse from his mother, often complaining about regretting adopting such a child, whose physical appearance was so similar to her husband's. As well as this, his father had begun to beat him occasionally whenever Levi would annoy him in any manner of childish ways, and he learned to stay out of his way.

However, Levi's life would not stay this way for long, actually becoming worse due to one thing. The incident occurred a few months after his tenth birthday.

His father had been working the fields, harvesting that year's crops when he noticed that one of the tires on the large machine was flat. He had gotten out of the machine to see if he could fix it, and while messing with the tire, it would seem he had touched something he wasn't supposed to, causing the machine to malfunction.

The blades on the front began to move, and sliced the man into pieces, staying in place with swinging blades until it ran out of fuel. It was only after Cordelia noticed her husband's absence that she went to look for him, finding what may as well have been minced meat made from Paul on the ground.

After his funeral, life changed significantly for Levi, with no father to run the farm, and a mother without qualifications, they were forced to move to a nearby city to live in government-provided housing, in other words, a massive block of flats.

*One Year Later*

On his eleventh birthday, Levi didn't receive a single gift. His mother had been a broken woman since her husband's passing, barely eating or moving at all, almost like she was in a trance all the time.

Despite him being abusive, she had relied on Paul to have a high quality of life, and the dirty flat they lived in was barely even good enough for a human's survival in her eyes.

*Five Years Later*

On his sixteenth birthday, Levi wasn't at home, anything he could do to be away from the rotten flat was what he would be doing, and anywhere he could be would be where he was. He was sitting in an abandoned skatepark with some of his friends, Jeremy and Carl, a lanky white guy with short brown hair and a short and chubby black guy covered in tattoos which his uncle (a tattoo artist) had given him for Christmas over the years.

The reason why Levi didn't want to be at home was due to his mother's change in personality which had happened when he was thirteen. At the age of thirteen, Levi hit the height of 6'2, the same as what his father had been.

As if a flip switched inside of her, Cordelia immediately started to become strange around Levi, treating him as if he were his late adopted father. When he wouldn't play along with her demented role-play, she would go ballistic, not wanting to hurt the woman who had saved him from a life in a rundown orphanage in Russia, he would simply put up with it.

She would abuse him horrifically and still did, and over time her methods had evolved. At first, she would hit him with a belt, before she turned to burning him with fire, after this she seemed to have settled on barbed wire.

She would tie the barbed wire around him, pulling it to tighten the wire causing him immense pain. It would also injure her, but in her insane state of mind, she didn't seem to care.

Sometimes he would wake up with it tied around his neck and would be forced into acting as his mother's husband to prevent his life from being taken from him. He wasn't proud of the things he was forced to do, and they haunted him every day.

*One Year Later*

On his seventeenth Birthday, Levi had reached the height of 6'5, and he had gotten very muscular as he didn't care about his education, taking out the anger he had piled up from his abuse of people whom he disliked. Living in such a rough area it was inevitable for him to turn to joining a gang, for the community and to make some money. More than either of these though, it gave him somewhere to be that wasn't home.

On this day, he decided to leave, abandoning his mother and going on to live his own life without her, making money by himself and forgetting about everything that happened to him.

His reason for leaving, the thing that had pushed him over the edge had happened the day before. Over time, Levi had grown used to the barbed wire which his mother used to abuse him, and it seems that she had noticed this, as Levi woke up in a bath full of water which had been stained by blood, his blood.

His mother was screaming and apologising, begging for him not to die, except she wasn't screaming for her son to live, it was for her husband. Levi was in immense pain and looked down at his body, he was covered in cuts from head to toe, they weren't massively deep, but the quantity was immense.

He looked over the side of the bath and saw what at first he thought to be barbed wire, but upon focusing his eyes some more he noticed it was different. Razor wire, it was fucking razor wire. This was a huge step above barbed wire, and it made sense why he was covered so badly in cuts.

Despite being incredibly injured, Levi was somewhat used to it and lifted himself out of the bath. He knew how this had happened and he didn't plan to let it happen again.

His mother had given him a drink the night before, claiming she was being a good 'wife' for her 'husband', and it must have been drugged, putting him to sleep. If he continued to stay in this house he had a feeling that he would be dead within the month. With the implementation of razor wire in his abuse, there was no way he would be able to live if she happened to wrap it around his neck.

With his injured body, Levi walked through the door to the bathroom, his mother screaming on the floor and crying as if she hadn't seen him. He limped to the flat's door and left without looking back.

*One Year Later*

After a year of being away from his mother, Levi's life was looking up, in a way at least. The gang he was in had become his new family, and he was making quite a lot of money.

The main reason for the large amount of money he was making was due to his willingness to attack anyone to whom he would be paid. With no other way to make money and a powerful body, it was a no-brainer to go into this line of work.

For this reason, he was often involved in gang wars, where he would get paid more depending on how many people he took out. Essentially he was a top quality product when it came to combat in this space.

On this day, it was scheduled that there would be another large-scale fight between the gang Levi was in and two of their rival gangs who had allied. Around three hundred people were going against Levi's gang of one hundred and fifty. The odds were completely stacked against them, but luckily everybody had their trust in Levi to put up a fight.

With such a built frame, and a body covered in scars, not only was he able to instil fear into those who saw him, but he could follow through as well. This almost instantly occurred when he arrived at the fight, with his reputation alone causing some of his enemies to cower in fear.

The group of one hundred and fifty of Levi's gang members ran straight at the opposition. They began to punch and kick, stab occasionally their enemies, Levi on the front lines.

However, everyone stopped when the noise of a gunshot erupted, the source of the noise being Levi. Except he hadn't shot someone, quite the opposite, he had been shot.
