Chapter 3 A Bitter Truth

"Shai are you in here?" Eurus asked walking into the room with a tray of food,

"I feel like her butler," Eurus spoke under his breath,

He sets the food on her bed and looked around the room, hearing talking coming from the bathroom,

"Why... I know why she would talk with herself," Eurus said

"But she has us," Claire said from behind him,

Eurus flinched and turned to her,

"Don't do that!" Eurus said

He frustrated looked to the bathroom, hearing the water tune off, he got up and knocked on the door,

"Hey, I just came to give you some food..... If you need anything, I'm here. I know you don't trust us just yet, and I don't know what you are feeling right now," Eurus said before continuing,

"You may feel alone, but you have me and my aunt, I will be out in the living..." Eurus said

He stopped when the door opened and Shai pulled him into a hug,

"I'm sorry I just need a hug," She muttered

He stood still, frozen. Not knowing what to do until he caved in and hugs her back, Shai started to sob heavily on his shoulder, and Eurus felt her full weight on him,

"She's so light," Eurus thought,

He pulls her to the bed and sits her down, next to him,

"Here's your food, you need to eat," Eurus said

He passed her the food, therefore, she quietly thanked him, he nodded at her and she ate,

"Claire!" Eurus yelled

Claire popped up in front of them, scaring Shai in the process,

"Yes, little Eurus," Claire asked gently smiling at them,

"What kind of stuff did Auntie tell her?" Eurus asked

"Give me a moment," Claire said

Looking through her databases before looking away from them, she leaned down and whispered it into his ear, Eurus gripped the sheets in anger,

"Thanks, Claire," Eurus uttered angrily,

"Don't thank me for telling you, little Eurus, now is there anything else?" Claire asked

Eurus stared at Shai wondering what to do.

"Do we have a TV in here?" Eurus said

"There isn't I'm sorry, but if you can get her into the living room I can set up whatever your heart desire," Claire said

"What do you mean, to carry her?" Eurus said,

He looked back to Shai finding her asleep,

"Good luck little Eurus," Claire said disappeared

"Claire!" Eurus whispered,

Shaking his head and standing up,

"For the love of," Eurus said

Picking Shai up off the couch and walking out of the room,

"This should be to your liking Little Eurus," Claire said

They both entered the room, Eurus sets Shai on the couch and then covered her with a blanket, he sat in a chair next to her,

"Where's Judy?" Eurus asked concerned,

Claire sighed,

"She is in a meeting with a senator from Texas," Claire deliberated,

"How long will she be this time," Eurus asked

"She will be back in two hours if they don't make it longer," Claire said

She floats above them, making sure to not wake Shai,

"Ok, is there anything on the news?" Eurus said

He grabs the remote and starts to switch through channels,

"Yes, they're talking about a plan that the "higher up" is talking about a cyberattack that will turn off the power to the United States and other places in the world," Claire said

She turned off the television and placed a projection of a video in front of him, Eurus sighed.

"Is that all?" Eurus said

He wanted to put his head in the sand but knew he couldn't.

"Isn't there always more news, little Eurus," Claire said sarcastically

"You haven't answered my question, Claire, "Eurus said

"Fine. There have also been more files released from the AI project, it seems the AI is trying to hack into the Senate earlier this morning. Your aunt was called in afterward," Claire said

Eurus sat back in the chair placing his hand over his face, saying,

"I wonder how she handles it,"

"Me too little Eurus," Claire said

She disappeared from his site, while he fell asleep on the chair,

"What do you mean by it was an accident? if he was close to hacking into our systems," Judy asked.

She stares irritated at her fellow senators,

"It's fine now, Judy. There is nothing else we can do," A male senator said

"There is something we can do, Claire!" Judy yelled

Claire popped up behind her, noticing the other senators giving her unsure looks,

"Yes, mistress... I mean senator," Claire said misspeaking,

"Show them the new firewall we made," Judy said

Claire quickly pulled up the firewall that has her monitors and Judy's system, which helped make her,

"This is how we keep it out, When the firewall discovers a foreign intruder it will attack it immediately. Afterward, it will search the web to find who arrange the hack and then send me the information on it," Judy explained

The other senators looked at her, some with curiosity and appreciation, most gave her intense hated glares, but Judy smiled.

"This is good, Judy thank you for your collaboration," one of the senators expressed

"What if it fails? There would be nothing to get in between the United States electric. Internet. Water. The grid. It could destroy us?" A female senate asked

"This was an emergency I had to put this up on the fly, I will help find a better way to keep it out but for now, this is what we have," Judy said

"What about your AI? She helped to correct," the speaker asked

Claire felt their eyes on her, she looked at the fear in their eyes and felt ashamed of what she was. Just because of another AI,

"Yes she did, I couldn't have done it without her," Judy told them.

"What happens if she turns against us like the other one," another senator asked

Judy looked back at Claire before turning her attention to the senator,

"That is a possibility, but I created her without a will to kill. I programmed her to have a motherly personality, she won't turn into that, and I can promise you that," Judy said

"If that is all, meeting adjourned," the speaker said

The video hologram turned off one by one, leaving Judy and Claire alone with their thoughts,

"Mistress," Claire asked,

"Yeah?" Judy said

"Do you think I will turn into them," Claire said

Judy froze in her spot, and looks away, she never wanted her proudest project and her friend to feel this way,

"No, you will never turn into that. You are better than that, don't ask that question again, ok?" Judy spoke

Claire felt her holographic lightened by what she said,

"Thank you, mistress," Claire says

Claire tries to hug her but phases through her, Judy chuckled and walked out of the room with Claire following her timidly,

"Mistress little Eurus is in the living room if you want to check on him," Claire said

"How's Shai?" Judy asked

Judy didn't know what to think of the woman yet felt curious about her.

"She was asleep for a while I would say three hours now, she should be in the living room as well," Claire said

Judy went into the living room and looked over at them, smiling at the scene,

"It's only been a day or two," Judy said

Claire nods behind her, therefore, Judy walked upstairs and went to bed,
