Chapter 27

Aspect Legacy was something that every Aspect contained, but very few Awakened ever received. Unlike the Boon of the First Nightmare, and every Nightmare after that, as well as the reward Sleepers received after returning from the Dream Realm for the first time, each Aspect Legacy had a unique set of requirements that the owner of the Aspect had to meet to unlock it.

Ayanokouji managed to do it as a Sleeper, by dreaming in the Dream Realm, by embracing his flaw. The usual preconception of Aspect Legacies was that one had to become at least an Awakened and be connected to the Dream Realm. Ayanokouji didn't need that restriction as he simply bypassed it in the most bizarre way... by testing out his flaw to the fullest.

As he looked at the runes, there was a sense of excitement in him.

There wasn't any description to the divine memory; it was just a flask with blood in it. As he summoned it, a very exquisite flask appeared in his hand. There was blood in it. The blood looked as ordinary as it could be.

The moment he saw the blood, something instinctive inside of him kicked in. Before his rational self could understand anything, he already opened the flask and drank the contents.

[Your memory has been destroyed]

The whisper of Spell made him snap back to reality. As he was trying to understand the situation, suddenly the blood he drank started fusing with his own blood. The usually stoic Kiyotaka couldn't even last a few seconds before he kneeled and screamed in agony.

The blood fusion was an extremely long and hard process. Every second seemed to last hours as Kiyotaka rolled on the floor, grabbing onto the door handle, trying to find some semblance of balance. The blood started to flow from his eyes, ears, mouth, and skin. His veins bulged and some erupted from time to time. Whenever it happened, the blood he consumed would flare up and heal him. This endless cycle of blood renewal continued. At first, it was capillaries, then veins. Slowly, the blood from the flask started changing all of the blood circulation systems within Kiyotaka. Kiyotaka himself couldn't do much but cling to consciousness.

From time to time, the bloodlust would erupt as it was unstable after his test. He would madly stand up and destroy the furniture before his rational self would prevail and calm down. Soon almost every part of his blood system was renewed. As there was only the heart left, Kiyotaka hoped that this would be the end. Unfortunately, it wasn't.

The blood from the divine memory started reshaping his heart. One by one, it readjusted his heart to something that no human should have. Needless to say, without a pumping machine, there wasn't blood circulation and even blood from the flask was very slow.

Already half-dead, Ayanokouji desperately activated his dormant ability: Blood manipulation. With all his mind, he directed his own half-fused blood to help the blood from the flask to 'evolve' his heart.

Amidst the unimaginable pain, he performed what he never could before. He manipulated the blood outside of his body. By that time, all his room was splattered with his blood... so he manipulated it back to him... to use this blood to evolve himself, just like the he did in the First Nightmare.

After God knows how much time, the process finally came to an end .

As it did, Kiyotaka finally let himself succumb to sleep as he lost his consciousness.
