Chapter 16 To be an Alpha

Jack’s POV

The sun was low in the skies when I chose to stop for something to eat. I had to shift and hunt some meat, which wasn’t a problem. I’d learned to work around my disability years ago so that didn’t bother me. What did, however, was a thing I could do little to nothing about.

I turned to look at the skies, frowning as I saw the gray clouds roll in. Had I been alone, I wouldn’t be bothered. I would simply shift to my wolf and sleep under a tree or something.

But Grace didn’t have that luxury.

She needed shelter and someplace to keep warm. Hell, she needed a hot bath for her aching muscles and sore feet and a decent bed. All-day I’d been waiting for her to stop and complain about her feet or warts or some shit. But she'd kept up with me and never complained. Not about the mosquitoes, the lack of privacy when nature called, or even the fact that she didn’t get to rest.

Nope!
