Chapter 2

Have you ever felt like hurting someone but you couldn't? That is exactly what am feeling.

" Your majesty, the head of hanyang sent me, his best man and highest officer to be your second in command for as a period of time per your request for a favor that needs to be done" Caleb said handing me the scroll " lord Paul said i should hand you the scroll when i meet you in person" he said

" Have you read what is inside?" i asked out of curiosity

" No your majesty. My lord told me not to read it that is what meant for you only" he said. I opened the scroll and read what was inside and closed it back. Lord Paul was a good friend to the late king and after his death we were able to see eye to eye and i did a favour for him and he promised to repay me. So he offered his best man to be my second in command even though i don't need a second man but he just gave him to me for some time and we agreed to tell everyone that i requested for it. But the problem is what was in the letter, it was like a warning i don't understand. I read it but i couldn't understand what it said. Maybe it is not serious bu I hope to get to talk to him soon. So i will set up a meeting with him.

" Okay, then i guess you are really as good as you say because lord Paul is a very honourable man and i take his word that you are the best" i said

" Your majesty, if i may ask, why do you need a second in command and why did you request for me?" he asked. Damn, this boy dosen't know who am i to be asking me such silly question

" Listen here Caleb, you don't need to know anything because i believe lord Paul has told you what needs to be said and requested

for you because lord Paul advised me a second in command will be favourable so i asked him to give me the best" i said

" Okay your majesty" Caleb said and bowed.

" You" i said pointing to guard who was arguing with Caleb " summon a meeting with the high officials and tell them her majesty requires all of them to meet assemble at the court of appeal immediately" i said

" But your majesty, isn't it quite late for a meeting?" he asked with his face down. everybody turned to look at him aside from Caleb. I walked towards him and held his shoulders.

" What is your name?" i asked nicely

" I don't understand your majesty" he stammered.

"What is there not to understand, i asked for your name?" i said while squeezing his shoulders harder. The guard started to feel pain because of my vampire strength.

" My na.....me is ray..mond" he stammered again

" I can't hear you clearly" i said my grip still on his shoulders.

" My name is Raymond" he said.I pushed him to the fall and realized everyone was looking at me " You" i pointed to the other guard " assemble everyone right now" I shouted " Yes your majesty" he scrambled away. Raymond came to hold my leg and started begging me " please your majesty, forgive me for my attitude am so sorry" he cried

" Have i even said i was going to punish to you?" i asked him with a coy smile.

" I know you will, please your majesty" he said. I removed my leg from his hold and adjusted my veil. " Everyone should follow me to the court including you Raymond" I said and walked away with

the Caleb and some maids with Raymond. i entered the court of appeal and went to my sit. The court appeal is a big room filled with lanterns and scented candles. There are several mats on the floor for the ministers to sit upon and conduct a meeting and there are paintings of the former kings who ruled this kingdom. They don't paint the queens of the kings because they feel they don't matter but i will change that and my painting will be in this hall. The ministers and head of important close districts and important ministers were entering the court with a few guards ahead. As they entered they all bowed and said their greetings and went to sit down.

" Your majesty, if i may ask why did you assemble a meeting at this hour?" the best kinsman and head of all the ministers spoke up. He his one of the few people who i trust so i don't mind him asking me questions.

" Lord Samuel, i don't do late meeting but this couldn't wait till morning" i pointed at Caleb and motioned him to come forward " this is Caleb and i requested lord Paul to send me his best man because he advised me i needed a second in command and provided me with Caleb" i said and Caleb bowed with respect to them.

" Your highness, why did you go to hanyang district and ask for a second in command? We have many men...." i interrupted him and raised my hand at him and he kept quiet " my decision for my own personal problems is not your concern. Before i make a decision about important matters concerning the people and the palace decision i hold a meeting and consult everyone of you. So i don't see the need to explain my matters to you. Do you understand lord peter?" i said in a calm manner.

" Yes your majesty" he said with a frown. Everybody turned to look at Caleb and he smiled at them. God, what have i brought to my castle.

" Your highness do you even trust and know him for him to be your second in command?" lord john spoke. Another minister i trust and respect.

" I may not know him but if lord Paul recommended him am okay with him but you know my rules betrayal equals death" i said and turned to Caleb " before you become a part of my court and my second you will have to swear and oath and make your promise"

" I understand my queen" he said and everyone gasped and i shooked. Caleb had a worried look on his face and said " my queen did i do....."

QUIET" i said staring at him with my cold eyes " don't ever call me my queen or the punishment will not be a smiling one, do you understand me?" i asked

" Yes my i mean your majesty" he said with a confused face I ignored the staring and scared face after Caleb statements. I hate it when people call me my queen it reminds me of terrible memories i will like to eradicate so i warned everyone never to call me my queen or the consequences will be severe. I started the Caleb oath and he swore his loyalty and promise and he wore the kingdom necklace which is given to top ministers

" Now that the matter has been sorted there is one more problem that needs attention" everyone started murmuring and whispering and my attention went to Raymond who has been shaking and quiet then everyone recognize who i was looking at.

" Your majesty, did he do something wrong?" one of the ministers asked.

" Come here Raymond" he hesitated and came forward and stood before me.

" What is my number one rule?" i asked in a calm tone." Never question her majesty decision unless asked otherwise" he said with his face down.

" And did you obey that rule this night?" i asked." No your majesty" he knelt before me " your highness please forgive me i don't know what came over me. Am so sorry" he begged. You know one of my abilities of a vampire is i could sense fear and nervousness and am getting that feeling from everyone but it is stronger from Raymond and lord peter. I knew he wasn't pure and never liked me but it couldn't just remove his position without him committing any crime. I also have the ability to read minds but only when the person allows me to.

I stood up from my sit and everyone stood up as well and i walked down to where Raymond was and lifted him up and he was shocked " Who gave you the mind to talk back at me? and don't you dare lie" i warned him and he stared at me. Before he could say anything lord peter interrupted him

" Your majesty , you don't have to be hard on him am sure he didn't mean it" he said with a nervous laugh i and smirk. I knew this bastard is up to something i could literally smell it.

" And why would you care" i asked before any conversation could continue a guard ran inside and knelt down in front of me.

" Your majesty, you sent me to check up on all the people and their well being. It was going fine then we got to the eastern side of the kingdom and realized neither food nor seeds nor farming equipment were supplied to them and the people told me that for the last five market distribution they have not gotten anything so they were angry and frustrated and they told me they wanted to report to you but some guards prevented and they thought you dont want to help them anymore. They were really angry" he said.I sent a look to the minister with rage and bitterness in my eyes. If

not for a little self control i would have turned and sucked the life out of him. I walked towards him and he could sense the anger in my eyes.

" Aren't you the in charge of food and farming equipment, lord peter?" i asked.

" You..r majest..y, i made sure i distributed the food and other material every farming distribution market. I don't know what he his talking about" he said.

" So why was food not distributed to the eastern part then?" i asked

" I don't know your majesty" he said.I got so angry at his statement that i threw away my veil and grab the nearest guard sword and pointed it at Raymond neck and everybody gasped and Raymond fell " What do you mean you don't know, do you take me the queen of this kingdom for a fool? I knew something was off why you sided with Raymond and interrupted me but i didn't know he was your guard in secret" i shouted my sword still pointing at Raymond neck.

" Your majesty, please calm down this could all be a misunderstanding" lord Samuel spoke. When am in this mood i block everything around me.

" Your majesty, please am innocent" Raymond cried and i laughed and withdrew the sword. There are other ways to get the truth so i went to lord Paul and faced him.

" Lord peter, did you or did you not want to take my throne or hated the fact i am queen because you were a loyal dog to the late king" i asked. I used mind compulsion against him. A vampire has the ability to compel someone to get what they want from the person. I do all my best not to use my vampire abilities but sometime i have to.

" Yes your majesty" he said.

" And did you not exploit my goods for your personal reasons" he nodded is head and i released him from the mind compulsion. Lord peter shook his head and looked around then said " your majesty i didn't mean everything i said"

" lord peter, how could you do such a thing to her majesty, to the people and the kingdom. This is treachery" lord john said. I went to meet Raymond and said " I know you are his head leader in this secret operation of yours and there are some other guards involved. Are they here or would you summon them?" I asked

" I will summon them" he looked defeated them." Okay then" i pointed to the head of the guards " Simon, please summon his accomplices immediately and make sure they don't escape" i said and he left.

" Your majesty..." I raised my hands at him to stop him.

" Why did you do that? I know your family is not suffering neither are you poor why did you steal from me?" i asked.Something shifted in his expression and he said " When the king died you had a son who his the heir of the throne and you just automatically set your right on the throne after everything the king did for you. He brought you from the street and made you into somebody, he showered you with love and riches but all you wanted was the throne but i was loyal to him and couldn't let that loyalty die with him so i made sure to do everything possible to ruin your image in front of the people" he said with total disgust on his face.I just nodded my head and smiled and i said " I get where you are coming from. You are loyal to the late king and i understand but am not the queen you use to know. The naive queen and kind queen who will easily forgive you. My rule is betrayal means death and you are no different" i said.

" Your majesty i have a wife and children i cant die" he said.

" I know that, so when you are gone i will provide for them twice as much" i said. The head guard came back with the traitors.

" These are the men you requested for your majesty" Simon said.

"This is a court matter so i need the opinions of everybody" i said.

" Your majesty, the men involved in lord Paul actions should be killed" lord Gabriel said.

" I agree with lord Micheal" lord Samuel said and the rest agreed. I went to where Raymond was with the remaining men and bent towards them.

" Why should i not kill you" i asked them" Your majesty we are sorry but we deserved to be killed we went against you for more money and it is a great sin" one of them said.

" I am truly sorry your majesty" they are said including Raymond.I stood up " I have made my verdict these men will be imprisoned and serve a tenure with hard labor" i said and they all looked at me.

" But your majesty i thought they will be sentenced to death" one of the ministers spoke.

" I changed my mind. Simon take them away" he took all of them away.

" And what will you do about lord peter" lord Samuel asked me. I smiled and i went over to take the sword i had and said " he took an oath "betrayal means death" so i think will all know what am about to do" i said

" Your majesty, please don't do this. I have a family" he cried and begged me but the only thing i could think of was blood. So i raised my sword and almost caught his head off when a hand

stopped me and i heard " Am your second in command don't i have a say in this matter?" and i look up and stared at the man who had the audacity to stop and me and i thought "What the hell just happened?".

19th of August 1831

A day has passed and am still in this place and i hated it, i hated her and i hated myself the most. I have killed two people and i actually feel good about it and that is what i hate about it. It is not right it should not feel right at all but it does. Aunt Lilian has gone out again and left me all alone in this cabin or house. I needed to see my son, i needed to feel him in my hands. I just gave birth and i have not touched or felt him at all, all i did was see him in her hands. My aunt hasn't explained much to me and i am tired of waiting for her to talk. I can't walk in the sun if not my skin will burn. I must drink blood to survive and it feels so great. The door opened and i saw her come inside the house.

" Why can you walk in the sun but i cannot enter it?" i asked her. She dropped a bag on the table and rested on it.

" Madison, you are dead but alive at the same time but technically you are dead. We vampires cannot walk in the sun due to some reasons but there is a way some of us can do it but it is a few. Some area in the kingdom is cloudy, little sunlight penetrate through it so we can move around that place. But here and some other area the sunlight is harsh so most vampires cannot move. But as i said, a few can with some help" she said. This all sound so surreal that all i could do was gawk at her.

" Look, you are the queen of this kingdom so you need to go back to your home so i am going to help you with that" she told me with a soft voice. I laughed so hard that i could feel stomach hurt me. What she said was not funny but i just had to laugh. She gave me an angry look.

" What? I am the queen of the kingdom. I don't feel like a queen at all more like a slave to the king for his sick pleasure and a thing to bore his son. All i want right now is to see my son and you are getting in my way" i told her. She stared at me.

" You want to see your son when you cannot control your thirst for blood, so how can you be able to see him? I brought you here to hide you from the king and also teach you how to control this new life of yours. So just be obedient and not give that attitude" she said.

" Okay fine, were you going to kill me after i give birth then tell everyone i died while giving birth?" i asked. I needed to hear her response because this will determine how i feel about her and what am going to do. I wish she doesn't give the reply am thinking about. She looked at me with emotions surrounding her eyes and i knew the answer already.

" Yes, that was the plan maddi" she told me. I have made up my mind. I stood up and went to meet her and stared at her eyes. " I am going to learn everything you teach me so that i can get back to my son then after all this i will make sure you never see me again and if you do i will make your life miserable because i did not imagine you will do something like that to me, your own family. Let's make one thing clear i hate you but you will help me out" i told her with so much anger in my voice and a sadness in it.She nodded her head and i moved away from her.

" Am sure you have so much questions you would like answers to, so ask away" she said and i nodded.

" When did you become a vampire?" i asked her. She sat down besides me and smiled at me and said "it is a long story".
