The Council Recruitment (2)

Different from the old Council office which was only frequented by rulebreakers, on the contrary, auditorium 4 which is next to it is a hall that is often used by Council members when they need meetings near the school or meetings with students who are not Council members. Or, of course a special briefing like this one.

In the front podium, Hana and a girl named Erika seemed to be seriously paying attention to every student who entered the building. Even Loki who was at the door also checked the attendance list seriously. Even though that might not actually be necessary, since the three of them picked them directly.

The most important criteria, of course, is that they shouldn't pick troublemakers. The council holds too much power in the school, so it could be a disaster if they pick them carelessly. Having one at the moment is far more than enough.

And the second criteria is definitely their magic abilities. Most council affairs might not always need magic. But having to use some is what makes the council powerful. No need to mention they will also need it if there are some uninvited disasters--which, spoiler, not that rare to happen.

"W-Wait, wait!" Alisa called again while pulling Mary for the umpteenth time. "Are you sure they didn't send the wrong message to me? Maybe I should go back first—"

"Alisa…" Mary replied with a tired sigh. "The hall is already at… 5 meters away, okay? Let's just go in."

"But still…"

"Hh." Mary knew that Alisa didn't expect herself to join the council at all in the first place. But her nervous attitude--leaning towards being scared too--was kinda hard to understand. Like, why would anyone hate to join the council?

"Or, let's just say it was really a mistake." Mary said again, trying to calm Alisa down. "Either way, you'd have to confirm it with the council members inside—"

"Oh! Somebody has questions for Council members?" Said a voice. "I'm a council member too, you know." The boy continued in a cheerful tone as he continued to approach Alisa and Mary.

He had the Council pin on his lapel, so it looks like he wasn't lying. Although… Not red. His pin was gold. Alisa felt like she saw it somewhere too, but she wasn't sure where.

The boy pulled down his white jacket hoodie, and Alisa could finally see his face more clearly. And the first thing that caught her attention was his bright shiny eyes, especially when he widened his smile like that. He almost looked friendly. But somehow it also felt a little too much as if he was just purposely putting that face.

His black hair had some silver highlights to it, so he looked a bit eccentric. But it's not that it looked bad. Even his crescent earring on his left ear actually looked nice on him.

There was 'F10' written on his jacket.

"..."

Mary looked a little shocked seeing him--which meant she recognized him, so he chose to just focus on Alisa. "So, do you need something?" Fio asked while doing magic and made a small white flower in his hand. Alisa was of course too confused to take it, so he just put it on Alisa's head.

"Um, i-it's just, I was worried that the invitation I got might be sent by mistake or something…" Alisa finally braven herself and answered. "Do you think it's possible?"

"Well, maybe." He replied with a little chuckle. "I mean, who knows? Hana might actually fall asleep while she was compiling the list or while sending the message. Yup, humane."

Then he suddenly got his face closer to whisper too. "Hana might look like an angel. But she's more humaney than you thought, you know." He said.

"Or well, let's just ask him then." Said Fio again while starting to push Alisa's back to go to the hall. And before long, they finally stood not far from Loki who was holding a list in his hand. "Can she come in? Or should I kick her out?" Fio asked.

"..." Somewhat like Mary, Loki was silent for a long time. The tall, stern boy lowered his gaze to meet Fio's. But after a few moments of throwing lightning at each other like that, Loki finally sighed and answered, "Alisa Arkain, right? She may enter, but you don't--"

"I knew it. Let's go then." Said Fio while pushing Alisa again. "Seems like Hana didn't make a mistake after all--but wait," Fio suddenly stopped pushing. "Why do you think she did in the first place?"

"I, um, can only use 1 magic, so…"

"Really?" Fio replied. But after being taken aback a little, he suddenly put his face closer to Alisa again. "But your aura smells a bit heavy though. Are you sure you only have 1 magic?"

"...!"

Alisa's heart almost dropped hearing that. But fortunately Fio started blabbering again. "Besides, they don't always pick people based on their magic only, you know. Especially Hana." He added while waving at the podium.

Fio laughed because Hana looked angry and started calling his name and all. But while he still had time, he turned back at Alisa. "She sweetly believes in fate and all. So sometimes she just picks people randomly, like… Because you're cute."

"Fio!" And Hana finally reached them. "What are you doing? Come here!"

Didn't actually say no, Fio just smiled and walked closer. "You picked a cute one. I kinda like her." He whispered.

"Grr…" Hana wanted to hit him or something, but then she remembered she needed to check on the cute girl first. "Are you alright? He didn't do anything, right?"

"Huh? Ah, I-I'm fine…" Alisa answered awkwardly.

"Really? That's good then." And after making sure everything was okay, Hana finally went back after Fio to the podium.

"Alisa!" But then Mary finally came back again. She was actually there all along. But because she was too scared to get closer, she just watched her friend from afar.

"Mary, do you know who that was?" Alisa asked. "He was so friendly."

Bugh! But Mary suddenly hit Alisa's back. "What do you mean friendly?! He is the vice president I was talking about. Fio!"

"Vice president…? But you said he looks like a gangster."

"He is! Anyway, quickly remove that flower and let's just sit!" Said Mary after slapping something above Alisa's head. It looked like the flower Fio gave was still there at that time.

On the other hand, when Hana reached the podium, Fio was already sitting at her place and reading some of her papers. "Only telekinesis, huh? No wonder she was scared to get in here." He muttered.

"Her telekinesis is not bad. And give that back!" Hana said angrily while pulling her papers away from Fio.

"But you don't choose her because of her abilities, right?" Fio replied again. "So why? Really because she's cute?"

Pursing her lips, Hana was still trying to hold herself back. "That's… the umpteenth reason. But of course I chose her for other reasons as well."

"Geez." But Fio suddenly laughed again hearing that. "You're really cute when you try to be all mysterious."

"..."

"Hana." Call Erika when Hana was about to hit Fio's head. "Everyone's here."

"Hh." Taking a deep breath, Hana was forced to go back to her work. "Fine. Alright. Let's start." Said Hana while rushing to get rid of Fio's face.
