The tension was in the air at the UA Academy. It had just suffered an attack from supervillains in the arena and, while they repelled the villains and repaired the damage, word had gotten out that multiple exchange students were arriving, and the school wanted to everything it could to make the arrivals welcome. AS Chris walked out of the bus that brought them to the school, he could see a big, white banner strung up between two lightposts with the words, "Welcome, Exchange Students!" painted in blue on it.
One of the other exchange students, a girl with curved horns named Pony, was bouncing next to him in excitement. "This is gonna be amazing, I just know it!"
Chris shrugged. "I feel you. It's still a bit nerve racking though. I mean, we're FINALLY here!"
Pony and Chris were classmates back in America, studying in New York at Xavier's School for the Gifted, which had recently grown exponentially into a hero academy that shared a close partnership with the UA. Chris and Pony both studied and trained enough to pass the UA entrance exam, and, after a delayed response due to a villain attack, the two were finally allowed to come to UA. Now all they had to do was find their classes; fortunately, they were given student ID's at the airport that showed them what class they had to find.
"What's your class?" Pony asked. Chris took out his ID and looked.
"It says Class 1-A" he said, "You?"
"I got 1-B" Pony replied, deflating a bit, "Looks like I won't be with anyone I know."
Chris patted her on the back. "Relax. That just means you have more new friends to make here. Though I am a bit nervous myself."
Pony shrugged her backpack over her shoulder. "Well, I should go find my class. Good luck!"
"You too!" Chris called as Pony ran off. Then, taking a few deep breaths to calm himself, he walked on into the school in search of Class 1-A.
The school itself was bustling with students, all mingling about in their free hours, so it was rather difficult for Chris to walk through the crowd without bumping a couple people.
Eventually he decided to ask around about finding Class 1-A, so he tapped the shoulder of the first person he saw, a boy with chin length, blonde hair. He was talking with a girl with red hair done in a sideways ponytail.
"Hi, excuse me" Chris nervously said, "I'm kinda new here."
"Oh, you must be one of the transfer students" the boy said, extending a hand, "Call me Monoma. This is Kendo. As students, we'd like to welcome you to UA High!"
Chris nervously shook Kenod's and Monoma's hands as he introduced himself, though he was feeling more confident now seeing how friendly these two were.
"Let me guess" Kendo said, "Trouble finding your class?"
Chris nervously smiled. "Yeah, something like that. Either of you know about Class 1-A?"
Kendo nodded. "We're actually from 1-B, but yeah, I know them."
Chris lit up. "Do you know where I can find it?"
Kendo thought for a moment. "I haven't seen any of them pass by here recently, but the room itself isn't far from here; I think if you just go up one floor and all the way to the left, you should find it."
Chris nodded his thanks, then remembered something. "I'll do that. Also, there's a friend of mine here who's supposed to be with 1-B. Her name's Pony; she's got big, blue eyes and horns. Keep an eye out."
"Thanks for the advice" Kendo said, and Chris turned to leave.
Monoma chuckled. "Looks like we've got another student to one up."
Kendo glared at Monoma and shook her head; that boy was a real piece of work sometimes.
Meanwhile, Chris had managed to make his way up to the next floor and went to the left as Kendo had said. Sure enough, He could see the sign 1-A on the door at the end of the hall. Risking a look in, Chris saw that the room was empty, save for a man at the back, who seemed to be looking at some kind of paper.
That must be the teacher Chris thought.
"I know you're back there" the man said, "What do you need?"
Chris gulped in anxiety before walking in and nervously waving. "Hi, sorry. I'm one of the transfer students and I was assigned to your class. I was just looking for the others."
The man paused what he was doing and looked up. Chris felt slightly uneasy looking into those bloodshot eyes.
"You're Chris Maverick?" the man asked. Chris nodded in response as he showed the man his student ID. The man nodded, satisfied with the proof.
"Call me Mr. Aizawa." He then said, "I'm your homeroom teacher. As you can see, we're in the free period right now, but I think you'll find your classmates in the courtyard outside; they tend to go there during this time."
"Thanks, I'll go find them." Chris said, "It's a pleasure to be here, by the way."
"It probably won't be as amazing as you expect" Aizawa said, "We push the limits of heroics here in every aspect. Don't expect us to go easy on you just because you're an exchange student."
Chris slightly paled. "Right. Thanks."
With that, he walked out of the room and headed for the courtyard, looking for the students. Unfortunately, he was so scared of Aizawa that he had forgotten to ask what any of the students looked like; oh well.
He was so lost in thought, however, that he accidentally bumped into a girl, forcing her to drop her book.
"Oh, I'm so sorry" Chris said, instinctively bending over and picking it up, "I wasn't paying ate…"
What caught him off guard as he handed the book was that the girl in front of him was completely pink, with black eyes. What was ever weirder to Chris was that she kinda looked cute.
"Oh, no worries" the girl said as she took the book, "I take it you're new here?"
Chris extended his hand. "Chris Maverick, I'm an exchange student from America."
The girl gasped. "You're from America?! Cool! My name's Mina Ashido
God even her name sounded cute Chris thought as Mina asked. "So, what class are you in?"
"I was assigned to Class 1-A." Chris replied, "I was told the others were somewhere in this courtyard. Have you seen them?"
Mina gasped again, "I'm from Class 1-A!"
"You are?"
"Yeah! We're all over this way. Come on!"
Chris followed her until they came to a shady area under a large tree where Chris saw a group of the most interesting kids he had ever seen. For being the top class, he wasn't expecting to see a girl that looked like she was part frog, a smaller boy with purple bubbles for hair, and even a light haired guy that seemed constantly angry, always glaring at the others.
Mina interrupted their conversations." Hey, guys! I found our new classmate. Meet Chris Maverick; he's from America!"
The others stopped and looked at Chris, making him feel a bit uneasy.
Noticing his nervous expression, one of them, a boy with green hair, walked up and prepared to extend his hand. "No need to be nervous. My name's…"
Suddenly he was shoved out of the way by a boy with blue hair and glasses. "I'm Tenya Iida, and as the representative of Class 1-A, I welcome you!" he said a little overenthusiastically, chopping the air with his hand.
Chris nervously leaned back a bit before Mina shoved Iida aside. "Iida! You're overdoing it; he just got here."
The angry one scoffed. "Since when does he not overdo anything?"
"Guys" the green haired boy said, "Let's all just calm down a bit and start over." He then turned to Chris. "Sorry, we're all still a bit shaken up from last semester. I'm Izuku Midoriya."
Chris started to calm down a bit as he shook Midoriya's hand; he could tell this one would be a good friend. As the other students came to introduce themselves, Chris could tell that being at UA might not be so frightening after all.
