Mana Core 1

Mila's POV:

"So, tell me, Mila, what is your choice?" He inquired, his tone oozing with an air of authority.

I couldn't help but recall the scared kid he used to be - the one who couldn't even bring himself to look me in the eye. And yet, here he was, threatening me with such confidence. The anger inside me began to boil.

What was I to do? Should I agree and deceive him later? He was just a kid - I could easily take him down. But before I could even consider it, he spoke again.

"And don't even think of betraying me. I hate traitors a lot." As he said these words, his demeanor changed.

I couldn't help but wonder what he must have gone through to harbor such hatred. Nonetheless, after taking a moment to think, I replied, "Okay, brat. I am willing to work with you. But forget the mana Oath - you don't even have a mana core. You can't take an oath without mana."

But before I could finish, he cut me off. "You don't need to worry about my mana core. I'll make one tonight. And I don't trust you, and you don't trust me, right? So let's say, if I could use mana tomorrow morning, will you make an oath?"

I couldn't help but grin at his words. This impudent brat had no idea what he was talking about. Making a mana core was no small feat, even for geniuses. And to control one's mana could take weeks, if not longer. But I couldn't deny that I was excited to see his face when he failed.

Well I can't say I am not excited. Looking at his sad expression tomorrow would be so much fun. Ah~ I can't wait to teach this kid a lesson. Ha~h I think I'm getting too excited. '

I was rubbing my thighs to decrease my excitement.

"Okay," I responded, trying to hide my excitement. "I'll come at 7 AM tomorrow. If you cannot use mana, then you know what will happen to you, right?"

He met my gaze with his usual cold eyes and replied, "We'll see."

'Ah~ so confident I can't wait to break this boy. Hm~'

I relished the challenge, eager to break this overconfident boy. As I tucked my daggers into their hidden pockets, I bowed like a dutiful maid and said, "Master, I'll be waiting for you. Please don't disappoint me."

"Get out. I need to make some preparations," he dismissed me with the same cold, confident eyes.

I couldn't help but chuckle at his response. The kid was either extremely brave or incredibly foolish. But regardless, I was eager to see what he had in store for me.

As I turned to leave, I couldn't help but wonder what had happened to him to make him so cold and calculating. Did he have some scary dream? Or was it simply a part of his personality? Whatever the reason, I knew that I was going to have my work cut out for me.

As I made my way out of the room, I couldn't help but feel a sense of anticipation building inside of me. Tomorrow was going to be an interesting day, and I was ready for whatever came my way.
