Chapter 15: Hey.

"Coming out of said titans neck was cadet Eren Yeager in an unconscious state"

"What?" Klemens know that the commander was not one for jokes, but this was too unbelievable even for him.

How could a person come out of a titan? He had seen the inside of a titan's neck numerous times as he was cutting them down and there was no chance for a human to be there and survive with the lack of air.

"Has he said anything about how this came to be? And how come Liesl and me weren't informed earlier?

"We have no idea for your first question, but I can answer the second one, it's because the military police doesn't trust you yet, you are definitely among the strongest people in the army and after becoming such a big deal in the eyes of the general public as the saviors of Trost, you have great pull among the common population and the lower levels of the army" said the commander.

"Then why are you telling this to me now?" replied the boy.

"Because there is going to be a trial, to decide wether Eren will be executed or put under the control of either the military police or us and I obviously want him to be under us, he could be an invaluable asset to the survival of mankind and to help to that end we need the two of you amidst our ranks"

A knocking sound came from the door, after the commander told them to come in a person came inside bringing tea, there were four cups.

"Now, the two of you could join the military police and easily climb the ranks to become some of the most important people inside the wall, but by doing so they will use you as a lever to show that they can keep Eren under control, while what they will actually do is dissect him to search how and why he transforms, if they don't already know it

On the other hand, if you were to join us..." but before he could continue persuading him to join the survey corps, promising them that Eren would be treated as a person and not a test subject, he was interrupted by Klemens.

"Our plan was already to join the Survey corps, there is no need to persuade us" he said as he sipped on his tea.

This momentarily stunned Erwin and the two captains in the room, but soon enough he realized that this was the best case scenario, Erwin knew better than to question his motive for having made such a decision, what mattered to him was that he could use them to keep Eren.

"In that case it's perfect, then I would need the both of you to be present on our side during the trial"

"No problem, but I have a few more question and a condition" said Klemens, without bothering to question his friend's opinion, he assumed that she would be all right with his decision.

"Is Eren currently conscious and are Mikasa and Armin currently under surveillance?"

"Yes to both" replied the commander.

"My condition is that I what to speak with Eren" continued Klemens, stating his wish.

"That is not a problem, but you will be accompanied by captain Levi"

Klemens found no problem with accepting this condition, after all everything that was said should be reported to give the regiment a chance to understand what happened.

"Hey Eren" said Klemens to the boy that was currently bound by chains in a cell in a deserted place, where the nearest civilian building was different kilometers away.

"Klemens?" replied Eren with a weak voice as he lifted his head up, looking at Klemens right into his eyes "Klemens, you're actually here!"

"What is going on? I woke up here and no one told me why I'm being bound like this!" shouted the very confused boy.

"Calm down Eren and listen very calmly to my words, apparently, yesterday you were found inside the neck of an anomalous titan after it died, do you have any idea about how that happened?" replied Klemens, he thought that telling his situation to him straight would be the best option, but he still tried to use the highest amount of tact he could manage and talk slowly, he knew how big Eren's hatred for titans was and didn't directly say that they thought he was the titan, which would have made him even more incoherent than usual.

"In the... neck? What are you talking about?" mumbled the boy at the revelation.

But the he suddenly started clutching his head between his hands.

"What? Eren, are you okay?" shouted the other green eyed boy, worried at seeing his friend in such a condition.

Just when Levi was about to interrupt the teens reunion, Eren calmed down, but even that was momentary.

He soon started creaming "Those fuckers! I'll kill them all!" but was interrupted by a sudden kick to the bars of the cell, creating a loud sound that startled Eren greatly.

"Calm down right now Eren, do you understand your current situation? Calm down and explain to us what happened, calmly" cautioned Klemens with his soothing voice, while simultaneously keeping an eye on the captain that now had both hands on his blades, ready to strike at any moment.

Eren seemed to understand reason, probably for the first time ever, and calmed down.

The green eyed chained boy then said "Reiner and Bertholdt are traitors"

""What?!"" this time even Captain Levi's eyes widened, never had he expected that the titan boy would throw such an accusation, traitors inside the walls were almost unheard of.

"Explain yourself, Yeager" said the captain stoically.

"After the titans entered through the breach in bulk, we started retreating, but before I did so I saw something, after going near I found out that it was Marco.

I went after him, to bring him with us to safety, I thought he was injured, but no, when I reached there I saw Reiner and Bertholdt about to strip Marco of his gear, I tried to stop them, but they had already beaten Marco, so it was a two against one.

They then did the same to me, they then threw the both of us into the mouth of a titan, after that I don't remember anything" during the entire story the boy hung his head low, gritting his teeth anytime he wasn't speaking in rage.

He remembered the cried of his friend.

Marco's last words had been "We haven't even had a chance to talk this through" he didn't know what he had heard, but seeing that scene made him think that it was something important, not that he cared in his rage at seeing his friend being stripped of his gear inside enemy territory.

While his were a mix of insults and threats, slowly going toward desperation.

He remembered how Bertholdt held him still while Reiner was breaking his limbs.

'My limbs?' he thought absentmindedly while looking at his arms, they were chained, but very much in perfect health, not showing even the slightest sign of being previously broken.

"Come on now, I need to report Yeager's words to Erwin urgently and you can't stay here alone" said the captain with his usual stoic face, he didn't know wether to believe Eren, but he had to at least report his words.

"See you later Eren" were the last words spoken by Klemens as he left the room without waiting for a reply.

"Traitors, you say?" replied Commander Erwin after hearing the words of his captain.

In Erwin's office there were only the two of them, Captain Hange had gone to experiment on her two newest captured titans.

"This is what Yeager said, I don't know if it's true though" replied the captain.

"True or not, we have at least to investigate, this could be an opportunity to understand why Eren can transform into a titan and even if it isn't we cannot let this go without even investigating this"

He then started writing a letter, putting it in an envelope and sealing it, he then passed the letter to Levi.

"Send someone to bring this letter to the military police, this is they job and it's time they do something productive"

Levi took the letter and left.

In the room remained only Erwin, who while looking outside the window mumbled "Two monstrous humans, two traitors and a human titan..." only he knew what his thoughts about the situation were and the plans he was concocting were something the world would witness in the future.

Back in their room, who Liesl had now forcibly took as hers because she thought that her friend should and quote 'Be grateful that he could sleep hugging a great beauty such as herself'

He didn't complain other than replying with 'Where?' which pissed her off but otherwise didn't cause any other reaction, she knew that causing a reaction was exactly what he wanted so she didn't give him the satisfaction.

"Eren coming out of a titan's neck, you say..." she seemed to think of something, before her face gradually turned to one of enlightenment followed by shock.

"Are you thinking what I think?" asked the girl.

"Eren becomes a titan, Reiner and Bertholdt turn out to be traitors after killing Marco, they must have had a reason for doing so right now, but we don't need to know it.

This plus the weird feeling you feel from those three and others, given that there is one, why shouldn't there be others, but we need to be cautious, there could still be other reasons" reflected the boy, explaining his conjecture.

"Indeed, I think so too, after hearing what happened to Eren I think it makes sense, they always felt kind of dangerous in some way, but I never realized why" replied the girl.

"I should have realize sooner, maybe then Marco would still be..." the girl mumbled while sulking, before feeling a warm hand on her head lightly ruffling her hair.

"Yeah, don't worry about that, nobody could have made any association between our comrades and the greatest enemy of mankind" said the boy, before she swatted his hand off with an annoyed expression.

"Don't pat my head"

He ignored her words and said "What now? We can't tell this to the army, they are not to me, they don't know about your super instincts, we can't just go there and tell them that there are a bunch of human titans because you feel that's the case"

The girl thought for a bit cupping her head between her hands while sitting on the bed, eventually she came to a conclusion "We just have to talk with one of them then, let's see... Reiner and Bertholdt are obviously off limits and I don't like Ymir personally, we also know that Annie and the two guys knew each other before but for some reason they never really interacted during the training camp, probably to hide the fact that they are together I think"

The boy added "Yeah, the fact that three were together in the same group is really suspicious, they obviously know about each other which means that they were raised like that, probably by their parents or something"

"Yeah, it's probably some hidden organization that actually controls the government or maybe it's the true face of the government"

"The government that protects us from the titans is actually a bunch of titans?" the boy said with an amused smile at the thought "I like it"

"Well, anyway, we need to bring Annie in a secluded area, we don't know how they become titans or even if they can do so intentionally, from what we know from Eren, maybe they can transform only if they get eaten by a titan" hypothesized the girl.

But the boy immediately shut down such an hypothesis "That can't be the case, if it were so and everyone of them is like Eren, who loses memories after leaving the titan body and goes unconscious, then they would have no actual idea about their power, even now I doubt that Eren remembers transforming"

The girl didn't like saying that he was right, so she didn't "Who cares anyway? We just need to understand their powers and how they use them, if they can be useful we can keep them, otherwise we'll just kill them like all other titans"

"Even Annie?" asked the boy, incredibly surprised at her ruthlessness which was extremely uncharacteristic of her.

"Obviously not, I was talking about Reiner, Bertholdt and Ymir, I don't care about them, Annie is my friend, if she's a problem we'll just find a way to protect her, fuck the others"

The boy sighed in relief, that was more like her.

"Yeah, sure, let's go with that, the question now is how should we talk to her without alerting her or having her escape?"

"How else? It's pretty obvious if you think about it..."

The rest of the day passed with the two planning on how to deal with their situation in the best possible way down to the smallest detail.

The two were following Annie without her knowing about it, when she finally reached a place not surrounded by people, which didn't take long given that she was a loner, they started fase one of their plan.

Liesl came out first, as per their plan "Hey Annie, how are you?" she said, while acting flawlessly, nobody could ever find a flaw in her performance, she was used to perceiving any sign of a person lying so she could erase them from her own acting, giving her a perfect feeling of normality.

"Hi Lie..." but Annie never managed to finish her sentence, or see Klemens that had now appeared behind her, as her consciousness faded into nothing.
