Chapter 16: Choice

The room suddenly became silent. Xia Hongyi and Xia Qingyue were both looking at the man in front of them who was casually sipping the tea from his cup.

Xia Hongyi's look felt like he had gotten the the best yet worst surprise of his life. 

While, Xia Qingyue's was calm and composed as ever, there wasn't any sort of reaction from her, as if she had already anticipated the words that came out of Alex's mouth.

Xia Hongyi seemed like he wanted to shout at the young man for daring to ask for such a thing, but then he suddenly remembered about the fact that the same young man is an Emperor Realm powerhouse that can kill anyone in this entire nation without any resistance, so he kept his mouth shut and emotions in check.

Xia Qingyue spoke with her calm and cold voice, " Could you please change your conditions as I am already engaged to someone and will be married to him in 2 months."

Xia Hongyi looked pretty proud of his daughter to be able to speak with the young man in front of them even after knowing the strength he possesses, but yet he felt afraid at the same time of any bad reaction from the young man.

The best thing that he could do for now was just keep quiet and let her daughter talk as the young man doesn't seem to have any intention of harming her.

Alex expected such a response from her and simply shook his head, " The only thing you can offer that I want is yourself, besides that there's nothing that you have that can even interest even a bit."

"I already know that you are engaged to Xiao Che. I know everything about the promise between your father and his father. You do not need to know about how I know about it."

Alex continued, " And besides the marriage the marriage would only be a namesake wouldn't it? As for the disciples of Frozen Cloud Asgard, marriage is forbidden."

Xia Qingyue wasn't even shocked anymore at how Alex knew all of these things and just nodded her head.

Alex said, "Well then, let me make it easy for you then, the only reason you are marrying him is because of the fact that your father's promise to marry you to Xiao Ying's son right? What if I were to tell you that he isn't actually the son of Xiao Ying?"

The last few words that came out of Alex's mouth had shaken Xia Hongyi off, he spoke aloud, "Impossible! That cannot be!"

Alex looked at him and just said with a straight face, " Well, it is exactly like I said."

"The person you all believe to be Xiao Che is actually a resident of another continent who got exchanged with Xiao Ying's child. And do you know who exchanged them? It was your brother Xiao Ying."

"Xiao Che is from the continent whose people are known as Demons by the residents of this nation and continent."

"I won't go into anymore details about the past and I know that you guys probably can't believe the information I have given you but does it actually matter?"

He looked at Qingyue and said, " The only condition I have from you is for you to marry me. Except that I do not want anything from you."

"But think carefully Qingyue, is a promise of marriage to a cripple worth more than your dream of meeting your mother? Are you really going to abandon your dream for a namesake marriage?"

"This is a one time offer. If you were to refuse me then this offer would never be available again."

Xia Qingyue was in deep thoughts after hearing everything that Alex had said and seemed a bit tense too.

"To give you a way out, I can assure you that even if you were to deny me right now, I won't take any action against your family nor the Xiao family, you have my word over that."

Xia Hongyi seemed a bit relieved at that as he was afraid of the consequences of offending an Emperor Realm Cultivator. He left all the decision making to his daughter now, while he was worried about the promise he had made to Xiao Ying, but for now he couldn't do anything about that.

Alex spoke again, "So, what is it going to be?"

Qingyue looked at Alex and said with determination, " I accept your offer."

Alex smiled at that and clapped his hands and stood up, "That's the answer I wanted to hear from you!"

Alex looked at Xia Hongyi and asked, "Do you have any problem with that?"

Xia Hongyi shook his head and said," No, I guess it's high time that let her make her own decisions."

Alex just smiled and said, "Then I would like you to not contact Xiao Lie and ask him to visit you in the evening. I would like to compensate that old man a bit and I can even prove to you about Xiao Che not being the biological son of Xiao Ying."

Xia Hongyi just nodded with a bit of regret on his face at the mention of Xiao Lie.

Alex said, "Well then, I will come again in the evening as I need to do prepare some stuff."

Xia Qingyue said something before Alex could leave, "But what would you do about my sect? It won't be a namesake marriage right? My sect wouldn't allow me for an actual marriage and I have heard that the Palace Mistress and the Grand Palace Mistress are both at the Emperor Profound Realm as well."

Alex smiled at her question and said, "You do not need to worry about that. I will take care of them and provide them a compensation for this that they might even name you as their most respected disciple for this."

Saying so, Alex just left the room while continuing to speak.

"And as for the Palace Mistress and Grand Palace Mistress's strength, you shouldn't worry, after all,"

as Alex got out of the room, a confident voice was heard by Xia Qingyue,

"I'm the strongest!"
