3. Plague

A fire engulfed the great forest of Armesia. Located to the southern borders of the kingdom of Chair. To its east the haemorrhage Kingdom while the hegemony to its west lied with the Empire of Ramen.

"It seems quite a lot of people are crossing this time" The general of black stood in his war room. Surrounding him were his men heralding a grim expression. The demon lord invasion had taken a start.

A few months earlier, the greatest of the plague ever to exist hit upon the world banishing most of its inhabitants. No cure was made or had even existed. Mortality soon succumbed the entirety of the world.

But again a medicine was there. Placed on the turf of a demon king. Hidden from the eyes of those weary and unworthy. Only those rulers, nobles and viscounts could even afford a syringe or two. The rest however perished from this world unable to lay eyes on their firstborn or even closing them in fear of turning into a monster. Religious was superstitious and many here believed on magic. Whenever a task was impossible by mortal hands the first go to was indeed magic, wizardry. Witch and witches haunted children's night as those seers made a quick buck off those people living in ignorance.

He was here once more in his war room in front of his people providing courage as well shying their eyes from despair with a small flickering light of hope.

At this point, it might even be more acceptable to just give up and let nature take its course but again they were human greed was their weapon as well their greatest sin. If salvation does exist in plains beyond through a crumbling fortress housing a wayward demon king of unknown origins then this general would still fight after all giving up is same as accepting death for him.

Through the darkness of the forest captured by its willowing trees, the group went en route towards the demon lord's castle. Though saying it being a castle was being humble on their part, the place looked closer to cave sheltering neanderthals but again they remained demon lords disrespecting them would however earn the ire of their followers.

Finally through thick and thin, crossing turbulent whether, both the general and his knights made their place inside the cave.

"Sir, we crossed a considerable distance to our goal. Should we by any chance continue or camp for the night?"

Though as a general he would allow his fellow knights to stop and take a breather, the time itself permitted this weary bones and his merry band, no such luxury.

"We...we continue"

The cavern was dark, seeping every bit of light from outside to facilitate its practicality towards its creator. Covering the eyes of those weary wanderers the cavern stood as a trap and an ideal home for a denizen surrounded in darkness.

"Sir, Goblins ahead."

Hearing the words of his adjutant the general once again took command.

"Pull your spears."

Those inhabitants under the employment of those hideous kings, Goblins. A race coloured in green, existed as a nightmare and a mockery to its parent race, humans. While humans desired freedom, those monsters laid their heads in servitude and now fate brings them against the others writing a terrible saga to his name.

"Go" With a great resolve to protect their kind, the general gave reason to their slaughter.

And so the carnage begins anew.

Spears have long-range and good piercing capabilities allowing the individuals to stay from the grizzly scenes of battle.

Finally the cacophony of sounds emerging from that hideous amalgamation, a mockery to humanity laid off the ground. Gurgling as they released their last breaths.

The kingdom does not condone such actions even goes far to promote them as a service. But again this general questions if this was the whole truth to it or another fabrication in order to slaughter others for the kingdom's or in a greater view, humanity's benefit?

Again the general thinks if his decisions were truly right or a failure covered in a package filled with delight.
