ELENA
I didn't get any sleep last night. Devon's words kept ringing in my ear on a loop. The malicious expressions on his face haunted me the whole time.
I thought of going to dad's room and asking him to hum to me 'twinkle, twinkle little star' but then decided against it thinking he must be tired and I shouldn't bother him at that time.
Calling Joanna was not an option. Steve told me how difficult it was for her to handle everything at the office in my absence.
So I remained in my bed, turning and tossing while wondering if Devon was awake too.
The morning came as usual, but I didn't hear any sounds coming from the kitchen. I freshened up and brushed my teeth, waiting for dad to call me for breakfast like our daily ritual.
But he didn't.
Maybe he was not in the mood of preparing breakfast. I decided to do it on my own and surprise him. I skipped down to the kitchen and found everything untouched after the last night.
