Are you real?: The XXVI set

What are they hiding? What is the whole point of this? Is there a point? "The skies fake, the water’s fake, my blood's fake. Am I fake?" The world as they knew it was under the control of a higher group of individuals who had a plan... a vision for the world. A vision they didn't feel the need to share with the public. 26-year-old John Billoway was a part of this vision, tied ever so tightly to it in a way he couldn't comprehend and each time he gets so close to breaking out of the fabricated world- he hears a thud and then a reset.

10. Hopeless dreamer

"Here, go to the bar. Lock the door and stay in there." John put a sleeping Annabel into Hannah's arms.

"Excuse me? I didn't talk with your crazy sister for an hour just to go home and cower in fear." Hannah grabbed Annabel and continued talking to John. "I'm going to be here till the very end,"

John clenched his fist, what he made Annabel do was still eating him up inside and he couldn't muster the courage to tell her. "Okay, just don't let them see you. I'll be back soon."

John walked up the building, Middle, Second and Four were what stood between him and the Vixon star. He wanted to talk to them so badly, he didn't want to have to kill all of them but he prepared himself to.

"So you've finally arrived," Four said over the cameras.

"Don't argue with me on this Four, I know you didn't have that hard a stance on this from the beginning. You just followed the best course of action."

"These people are happy Zero! Why can't you see that."

"Happy? How do you think these people will feel when they WAKE UP AND THEIR CHILDREN DISAPPEAR!"

"What do you mean honey? John! What are you talking about?" Hannah shouted.

"I meant to tell you... that's what's going to happen after I destroy the Vixon star." John clenched his fists and bit his lower lip even harder.

"My child's going to disappear..." Hannah laughed and walked away from John. "Do whatever you want to do John, I won't hate you for it. I already know how much you hate yourself."

John watched as she walked away before continuing. "I won't ask again Four, don't stop me." John walked up the Alphasted building, going to the rooftop.

The sky became the perfect shade of gray as the final moments of the fabrication were approaching, a storm brewed and tornadoes followed alongside lightning strikes on parts of the city.

John placed his hand outward, drawing the Vixon star to the rooftop. The bright orange space rock illuminated the skies creating an ambiance that some would have mistaken for the heavens. "If I destroy this everything will go back to normal,"

There are some occurrences that no one can explain, the supernatural wasn't weird, especially in John's case but this was something he had never seen before. In front of him was the energy of Index reforming itself and not only was his energy converging it was also siphoning energy from the other fingers.

"AHHHHH! Zero! What's happening, what's this? Please what's happe-" The bodies of the remaining fingers converged into the remnants of Index's energy and the dead finger was reborn as a giant monster that resembled a Cerberus.

"I WILL NOT ALLOW YOU DOOM THIS PLANET!" Index's voice, now sounding like a mixture of all the fingers shouted.

"What's that?"

"Oh my God, Child come let's pray!"

"It's the end of the world!"

"I have to delete my browser history."

The people of the world ran into their homes after seeing the nightmare creature that was supposed to be the embodiment of their savior. "You held onto this world like a dog onto a bone, even after death you couldn't be defeated." John made two copies of the pistol and held one in each hand.

"YOU DON'T HAVE AN ANSWER FOR THEIR DESTRUCTION! You're going to damn them! You are going to damn everyone eventually!" Index swung his giant hand and what was left in his wake was destruction and collapse.

"Your killing the same people you are trying to protect, stop this madness Index!" John jumped onto the hand of Index that tried to trample him, running along his brother's arm trying to get close enough to shoot.

"WHAT DO YOU SEEK? WHAT DO YOU EXPECT TO HAPPEN? WHY DON'T YOU WANT TO PROTECT THEM!" Index swung his second arm onto his other arm trying to squash John, who dodged just in the knick of time but the building couldn't take much more.

"John!!!" Hannah cried out and John looked down, she was still in the building.

"Fuck!" John jumped off Index's arm creating a building over Index that would eventually collide with the giant abomination.

"You're not going anywhere!" Index grabbed the building and swung it at John, hitting him as if it was a game of baseball.

John was sent flying into a building about a mile from the Alphasted. "I have to save her." Dying in this world was the same as dying the in the real world, although the people were being kept in a cold sleep their brains were still alive. Dying in this world was the same as your brain ceasing function.

John could create any object he has seen before, as well as retain its original use and function. His options were limited to how much energy he had, and he wasn't worrying about that.

"Index we don't have to do this, we're destroying the people!" Four's voice said.

"This wasn't the plan." Second agreed.

"Shut up! All of you! If you won't assist me I will do it all myself." Index shouted, and the other voices quieted down.

Index used Four's ability to scan through all the cameras she had already placed, the building he pushed Zero into didn't contain him anymore. Where was he?

"Are you guys okay? Please get away from here." John said as he kissed both Annabel and Kayla. "I love you guys, don't ever forget that."

"What are you going to do?" Hannah asked but all John did to respond was kiss her.

"Be safe for me please, Anna. You've been the perfect little girl, daddy is sorry for everything he's done. I hope you can find it in your heart to forgive your flawed father... and that's all there is to say." John smiled. "See you later."

John ran toward Index, defeating him was an impossible task and if he can find a way to always come back even after death there was only one way to truly end it.

He needed to destroy the Vixon star, Index wasn't really guarding it and that was perfect because using his ability John would destroy every Vixon star he ever created and with the original gone. That means everything that is controlled or run by the energy of the Vixon star would die. That meant both he and Index would perish... for good.

"Whatever you're planning I won't allow you to accomplish it!"

John created a building directly underneath him that pushed him up into the skies, he needed to copy the Vixon star and create another one from there he could tamper with everyone he ever made. Index was catching onto the plan slowly, as he swung the building he grabbed earlier at John but he felt no form of impact whatsoever.

"Index, do you know what makes life worth living?" John paused. "It's making your own choices, smiling, crying, falling, getting back up, all of these things are what make life worth living and you want to take all of them away."

"They will ruin themselves, nothing will change that fact. Nothing you say will!"

"That's their decision but I have hope, I have hope in humanity. I have hope for a brighter future, a future that's filled with laughter and joy. Sure the inevitability of war is there however I believe they will overcome every hardship they face."

"You dream too much!"

"That may be so," John stretched out his hand copying the pre-existing Vixon star as well as creating another. "But maybe I'm just doing what I was put on this world to do, I'll help them undo your brainwashing."

"You're going to destroy every star that exists? THE ORIGINAL IS NO MORE. We will perish alongside it!" Index shouted when he saw John on the Alphasted building.

"I'm okay with that, I'm sure the universe will find a way to bring more helpers into existence." John smiled.

"STOP YOU, BASTARD!" Index lunged himself at John.

"No, it doesn't matter. I'm sure they'll manage, even without our help. They're tough, I've seen that with my own eyes." John destroyed every Vixon star he ever created and the world started to revert to its original state. The bright skies and intricately engineered buildings crumbled to pieces as the real world was being exposed.

"You SLY BASTARD!!!" Index screamed as he faded out of existence.

The war-torn world that was shown after Index's illusion was destroyed proved his point even further but John had steeled his resolve, even as his body started to disappear into particles of energy he stood tall watching the humans wake up from their three-year-long slumber.

Hannah watched as the only two things she cared about disappeared, she held onto Annabel who cried as she dissipated, she wanted to cry but all she could do was comfort her child. That was what a mother did after all, she could always cry later but right now. Her child came first.

John looked as all the planets lit up like lanterns being lit for the first time in ages, finally, he had freed the people he helped enslave. Finally, he could rest.

As his body disappeared John looked back at the people that woke up from their cold sleep, he looked at each of them. He wanted to apologize to them the time he had left wouldn't allow it. All that was left now was for his energy to return to Vixon, alongside his siblings. "Goodbye, universe."
