'Sign', the summer is hot, no matter which world. Still, living in a place where it was supposed to be Japan. What can I expect?
I just let my thought run wild as I attend my class. The boredom is unreal.
It is great that Umina's government grants subsidies to poorer students. It still didn't make the pain of going to school again goes away. It's even more so when I'm stuck in the weather.
'Sign, I wish there was an air conditioner in this world.'
Ah, how I hate school so much. As a mechanical engineer graduate from a renowned university back in the other world, I felt that going back to the equivalent of elementary school is a bit much even for me.
Most of the courses Blue Habour Public School (BHPS) teaches were not really relevant to a commoner. While it did help build a sense of patriotism through its history class, it really not that relevant to our lives.
Basic math, basic science, basic everything. I guessed that because of magic and other abilities, the world technological indexes didn't reach the height like my original world.
While they have a flying ship and land vehicle, it's nothing innovative. All of these were created through [Enchanting].
It is because of [Enchanting] that most of the physical laws were repeatedly broken, thus no big advancement in the direction of science.
Anyway back to the topic of school.
I can tell already that the public schools were built to only ensure a basic education and nothing more. It's propaganda at its finest. Keep the sheep educated enough to make them easier to control.
However today was pretty interesting, the homeroom class was covering the topic of the professionals.
I'll try to summarize the lecture my teacher gave. Professionals are the superpower individuals that are above "human"'s limit, either by training their body or by awakening their magic container.
There are two types of professionals, the caster type which used magic or the warrior type which trained their body.
And each type also has its own subsection like the Wizard, Sorcerer, and Warlock for the caster type. And Fighter, Monk, and Rouge for the warrior type.
It essentially a choice of class/profession in this world. I already know that due to my system but it is good to know, how this world separates their profession.
It's also worth mentioning that unlike d&d, there are other classes apart from the original 9. In this case, was the Shinobi profession was mention in the passing with the Rouge profession.
I can already tell what it's going to be like for me to unlock those professions. It'll be like a job system from final fantasy, isn't it?
Level Fighter to Lv. 10 then upgrade to Champion lv. 1. The fighter's level remains, so the total level would become Lv. 11.
Or something of similar effects I think. I need to try to know. I'm entertaining the idea of multi-classing, I just don't know which class to multi-class yet.
You know from my observations, this world doesn't have guns. Well, on this Island at least. There are airships and automobiles but no guns. I guess having mages makes it seem that inventing a gun seems redundant.
Well, it doesn't matter. Having a gun as a weapon would be a boon.
Let start with the basic, gunpowder. I need coal, sulphur and potassium nitrate (saltpetre). Saltpetre might be a problem to find. Maybe I should try to learn magic from the transmutation school of magic to solve this.
Whatever, I'll shelf for future projects. Today though is the day I unlock my magic container. I just have to wait for this class to finish and I'm home free.
Just a bit more, I can't wait.
*Ding Dong Ding Dong
Yes. Gotta go. I have complete my preparation for today's awakening. I quickly stuff my books and writing utensils into my bag.
"Yuuji, why are you in such a hurry? I thought we are supposed to hmmmp...", Sophie didn't get to finish her as I close her mouth with my hand.
Whew, that was a close one, this blabbermouth sometimes doesn't know when to shut her mouth. And now she is licking my hand, sign. This tomboy.
"Goddamnit, why are you licking my hand?", I screamed as I remove my hand from her mouth.
"Serve you right. Bleee.", Sophie stick out her tongue mocking me.
Tsk. This bitch.
"Stop argue and let's go.", intervene Eru from the door before walking out. I quickly left follow behind her without any response.
"Ah hey, wait for me.", Sophie cried out before sweeping the top of her desk into her bag and ran out.
<line breaker>
I found myself and my two friends, Eru and Sophie in the woods where no one would look for us.
If that line sound shady as all hell, it wasn't intentional. But we are out in the woods somewhere behind our orphanage. It is so no one would interrupt us.
Ok, that also sounds sketchy as well. The point is we need somewhere quiet to startup our mana container.
From my research, there is a method to awaken the mana container other than meditation. That method was money. I mean using money to buy a mana potion.
Through my research, I found that the mana container in our body is in a dormant state. Even when it's in a dormant state, it still absorbs the mana from surrounding.
This is where the mana potion comes in, it was supposed to be a catalyze in awakening the container by overfilling the Od in the body during meditation, forcing the container's activation.
Usually, the potion is used for mana recovery. I, however, thought that if the unawakened container was already filled with Od by absorbing the surrounding mana then by filling in a more concentrated amount it could be used as a forced activation of the container.
Well, it's a running theory I had anyway. There should not be any risk, as mana potion is pretty harmless.
It's a very brutish method, so I'll do it first in case of accident happen.
While mana pots were not especially expensive, around 50 coppers something. It's still not what I could afford, with me being an orphan and all. Eru, Sophie and I don't even have an allowance for us to use much less afford a mana pot.
I had to take up some part-time job like a courier or helping at the local blacksmith shop. Took a while to save up for 3 mana pots.
"Eru, Sophie. I'll start first okay. If something happens run back and get someone to help."
"Yuuji, maybe you shouldn't...", Eru didn't get to finish as I already chuck the potion.
I quickly enter the meditative states as I practice before to feel up my Od and my mana container's state.
I can already feel the effects of the potion in my body. Ugh, oh shit. I don't feel so good now.
Maybe I shouldn't have done that.
<Change to third person POV>
As Yuuji enters the meditative state, his body's heat starts to rises. As time went on he was becoming more and more uncomfortable.
"Eru, maybe we shouldn't have done this."
"Sophie, you know how he is. Once he got an idea in his head, nothing can stop him."
"But still..."
"We just have to trust as we always had, Sophie. Then we can beat him up for making worrying us."
The heat started to rise affecting the surroundings as the swirl of mana was channelling into the epicentre that is Yuuji.
It got to the point that Eru and Sophie need to move away from Yuuji.
While Yuuji was struggling with his rampaging mana unaware of his surrounding, he without realizing caused a Beast Tides.
Beast Tide is a phenomenon that causes the monsters and beasts to become agitated. Causing them to rush to the most concentrated point of mana. And as cities are the most localize point where people whether they are professional or not gather, the beast tide usually targeted it.
Usually, the beast tides occur once every 15 years and the last beast tide that happens was 10 years ago. As the accumulation of mana reaches a threshold, it creates a beast tide by agitated the surrounding monsters.
Suddenly as the mana reach the critical mass to the point that explosion is inevitable, the gathered mana dissipate into the surrounding and the situation calm down.
Eru ever the quick-witted child, ran to Yuuji checking his condition. Follow along was Sophie.
As if the experiment never happen, Yuuji woke up from his meditation as fresh as new.
"Ah, Eru. Sophie. What's wrong?", Yuuji didn't get a reply as two tiny fists start beating him up.
"Ah, ahhhh. What are you doing?", he cried out in pain.
"You got us all worried for nothing, you stupid nincompoop.", cried out Eru as tears well up in her eyes.
"Yeah, Aho, Baka.", Sophie cried as well, her tears were streaming down her cheeks.
Yuuji felt a bit uncomfortable in this situation, as he never experienced it in this life or his last for that matter.
"Sorry.", he muttered out. He seems distracted but truly felt sorry for this predicament.
<Change to first-person POV>
Ugh, I messed up. Shit now they're crying their snot out. I didn't think this through, huh. Still, the pain in my body didn't let up, it's going hard to walk for a while.
Still, the blue screen is hovering over my head.
[ Through your reckless experiment, you have unlocked your mana container. You have tough out the pain of forced awakening making your container more robust and larger than it would your typical mana container. Your internal mana circuits have also been strengthened.

The fuck is the mana circuit. The book didn't say anything about this. Before I could continue to look at my status more, the city's siren starts ringing.
"This is the emergency siren, please proceed to the nearest shelter."
"This is the emergency siren, please proceed to the nearest shelter."
"This is the emergency siren, please proceed to the nearest shelter."
It keeps on repeat that line.
Oh shit, I think I cause this.
