Chapter 150: Pick One to Take Care of You
Slater gently blew on it.
Her breath was soft and tender, carrying a faint fragrance.
"Alright, it's fine now," Slater said, just about to move away.
A hand was already resting on her waist.
Slater's face flushed even more, like a light buzz from alcohol.
"What's wrong?" Slater asked, feigning confusion as she looked at him.
"You're really beautiful today," Wu Heng said softly.
Slater's face turned even redder as she lightly hit him, "Stop talking nonsense."
Seeing that she didn't pull away, Wu Heng wrapped both arms around her waist.
With a gentle tug, she ended up straddling his lap.
Hiss~!
The leopard nearby immediately jumped up, baring its teeth and ready to pounce.
Slater glared at it, giving a signal with her eyes.
The leopard leaped off the sofa, circled behind them, and lay down, closing its eyes to rest.
"I'm so much older than you," Slater turned her head and said.
"There's not much difference between us, that's no excuse," Wu Heng replied.
Even Slater's neck had started to turn red.
She knew exactly what Wu Heng wanted to do. Their letters had been even more straightforward than this in person.
She had come all this way, partly for work.
But mostly to see him.
In truth, she had already prepared herself mentally, but now that the moment had come, she felt a bit nervous.
As he whispered softly in her ear, her body slowly began to relax.
"Might as well, or else coming all this way would've been for nothing," she thought.
Wu Heng gently pulled her head down, bringing her lips to his.
Slater gradually got into the mood.
She raised her arms, helping him remove her breastplate.
When she noticed that he was fumbling, unable to undo her corset.
She took a breath and smiled, "Alright, let me do it myself. Are you still a kid?"
She lowered her head and undid the corset from the side.
Wu Heng took the opportunity to strip her completely.
"Why is it like this?" Wu Heng said, holding one round side, looking at the indentation in the middle.
Sitting in his lap, Slater stroked his hair, "It'll come out on its own later, silly boy!"
"You're too much!"
"Ha! Let's go to your room, not here," Slater said softly.
Wu Heng stood up, and Slater let out a surprised yelp, clinging to him as he carried her into the bedroom.
Under the dim light, he admired her graceful figure.
"Stop staring and get over here already."
Slater opened her eyes and spread her arms.
"Alright, I'm coming!"
...
Late at night.
Wu Heng held her from behind, gently caressing her impressive figure.
"How long are you staying?"
Slater wriggled back into him, "Come with me somewhere tomorrow, I'll head back in the afternoon."
"In such a hurry?"
"I've been here for five days already. If I don't return soon, there could be problems. I am a steward, after all," Slater looked back at him, "What, are you going to miss me?"
"Who wouldn't miss such a charming beauty?"
"I didn't realize before that you're so good at flattering women."
"You used to always say I was only after your money!" Wu Heng said.
"I still suspect that you're after my money."
Wu Heng replied, "You might end up with neither man nor money."
"I've accepted that."
"Turn around!"
Slater and Wen Mansa were both mature women, but they gave off completely different vibes.
Wen Mansa was clingy, like a passionate fairy trying hard to please, while Slater was more dominant.
Even in this situation, she had the tone and demeanor of an older sister teaching a younger brother.
It was the kind of attitude that said, "I'm going to conquer you."
"By the way, is there a way to avoid doing tasks?" Wu Heng asked.
Slater popped her head out from under the covers and looked at him, "If you don't do tasks, what kind of captain are you?"
"Just for the title. You know I've never been one to care about these things."
"As a captain, you have to do tasks. Unless you reach the rank of deputy steward, then you don't have to do anything, not even as much as a steward," Slater explained.
"How can I become a deputy steward?"
"Five level-three merits or one level-two merit. If you have enough local fame, you might not need either and could become an honorary deputy steward," Slater said softly.
The deputy steward of Rentam City was said to be an orc shaman.
He rarely showed his face and never led any teams on missions.
He held the title as more of an honorary position.
With a shaman in the city, the orcs would follow the city's rules and not cause too much trouble.
It was like an honorary status.
Wu Heng grasped her soft curves and fell into thought.
Slater asked, "You want to become a deputy steward?"
"Yeah, just the title, no tasks."
"Why don't you quit and come back to Blackstone Town? I'll take care of you," Slater teased.
Wu Heng chuckled, giving her a light pull, "I've got money too, so who's taking care of who is still up in the air."
"Alright, have you rested enough? Lie down and don't move." Slater threw off the thin blanket and pressed down on him.
...
The next morning.
The carriage creaked as it moved forward.
Besides Slater's carriage, several other carts followed, escorted by her personal mercenary group.
It seemed that she wasn't just here to see Wu Heng but also to purchase some goods.
Inside the carriage, Wu Heng asked, "Are you sure you can't stay a few more days?"
"You can come to Blackstone Town if you have time. I've had your house cleaned too," Slater said.
"Honestly, going back to Blackstone Town and being taken care of by you doesn't sound bad."
"That was just talk. The town's been quiet since you left."
At this point, the carriage slowly left the city and entered the outer district.
The outside started to get noisy.
The stalls on both sides of the road sold various goods, and it felt like the entire area was one big market.
"Steward, we've arrived at the location you mentioned," a mercenary said as he approached the carriage.
"Hmm!"
Slater straightened her clothes and opened the door to step out.
Wu Heng followed behind, getting off the carriage as well.
In front of them stood a three-story building with a sign hanging at the entrance resembling a rope.
A slave shop.
Here, you could buy slaves.
Men and women alike, and once the transaction was complete, the slave became your personal property.
"Since we're here, let's see if we can find some good girls. They might be popular back in Blackstone Town," Slater explained softly.
The Gold Cat wasn't a brothel.
They didn't rely on physical services to make money; it was more focused on performances like singing and dancing.
Non-human girls were always popular in human cities.
Even bringing back a tall, tusked female orc could draw in a crowd of curious onlookers.
They entered the shop.
A middle-aged fat man in a white robe, adorned with gem rings on his fingers, came out to greet them.
His gaze swept over the group, quickly landing on Slater.
"Ma'am, sir, looking for some slaves?"
Slater nodded, "Anything good?"
"Of course, ma'am, please come inside. You can choose for yourself, or tell me what you're looking for, and I can recommend something." The man gestured for them to follow.
Slater walked in directly.
Wu Heng followed behind, entering the courtyard.
The fat shopkeeper clapped his hands and shouted, and soon, more than twenty people emerged from various rooms.
There were both men and women, including humans, orcs, and some with animal traits like bunny people, fox people, and cat people.
Though they were slaves, none of them wore shackles or restraints.
They chatted and laughed as they came out, more like people waiting for job interviews.
"We have young women and strong men. Which would you prefer?"
Slater inspected them one by one and said, "The women, under 25, preferably with some talents."
The fat shopkeeper waved, and the men and the older women were sent back inside.
Slater walked around, making her selections.
She picked eight young non-human girls.
The fat shopkeeper praised Slater's discerning eye, assuring her that all his slaves were obedient and had no ambitions.
After negotiating the price, Slater paid.
It came to a total of 1,200 silver coins, which wasn't cheap.
The fat shopkeeper took the money with a broad smile and gave the slaves a few words of instruction before handing them over to Slater.
...
The carriages parked outside the city.
Slater glanced at the slaves, then at Wu Heng, and said, "Pick one to take care of you. Your place is a mess."
"I don't need one," Wu Heng hesitated.
"Shall I pick for you?" Slater asked, still in her commanding tone.
Wu Heng glanced at the slaves, who were all bowing their heads, sneaking cautious looks at him.
He said, "If I pick, you'll need to sign a slave contract with me. Think about it, and if you're okay with that, step forward."
No one spoke, so Wu Heng asked again, "Who can cook?"
After a moment, a young rabbit girl with black ears cautiously stepped forward.
Slater looked at her and asked, "What do you think?"
Wu Heng thought for a moment and then said, "I'll need another one."
"Don't be greedy, one is enough."
"No, I really need another. I'll pay for her myself if I have to."
Slater glared at him and said, "Fine, go ahead and choose."
"Who can do accounting, or has experience managing a business?" Wu Heng asked.
Silence followed again.
Slater commented, "If you're looking for an accountant, this is the wrong place."
"I can!" another voice piped up.
A girl with white hair and animal ears, with a somewhat cold expression, squeezed through from the back.
White hair!
That was indeed rare.
"You can handle accounting?" Wu Heng asked her.
"Yes," the girl said quietly.
Wu Heng nodded, "Steward, I'll take these two."
"Fine. From today on, the two of you will follow him. Be good and take care of him," Slater instructed softly.
The two girls nodded.
Slater then turned to Wu Heng and said, "Alright, I'm heading back now. Do your work here well, and when there's a chance, I'll request to have you transferred back."
Outside, she spoke like a steward instructing her subordinate.
She wasn't the same as last night.
Wu Heng nodded, took a backpack from Barson's back, and pulled out a stack of comic books and a jewelry box.
Handing them to her, he said, "The books are for Yuli, and the jewelry is for you. Be careful on your way back."
Slater gave him a deep look, nodded, and knocked on the carriage wall, "Let's go!"
The carriage slowly began to move.
The mercenaries escorted her as they left.
...
Back at his residence.
Wu Heng looked at the two maids standing before him.
"What are your names?"
The rabbit-eared girl lowered her head and said softly, "Master, my name is Minnie."
"How old are you?"
"Sixteen!"
Minnie was the rabbit girl he had just purchased, standing about 168 centimeters tall, with brown hair and black rabbit ears. Her face was young, and her body was somewhat thin, with strikingly long legs that made her proportions stand out.
"Alright, Minnie, you'll be in charge of the meals from now on."
"Yes, Master." Minnie nodded carefully.
Wu Heng then turned to the other girl.
She was the white-haired, fox-tailed girl with beast ears.
Her gray-white hair hung down to her waist, with a pair of animal ears on her head. Her gaze was cautious and cold.
Her entire demeanor was tense, as if she carried some heavy burden.
"What's your name? And how old are you?"
After a moment of silence, she said, "Andviel, 22."
"You said you can do accounting. Can you manage a shop?"
"No problem."
"Tomorrow, I'll take you to see the shop. If everything's in order, I'll leave it to you."
"Hmm," Andviel, the white-haired beast girl, hummed in agreement.
"I need to sign a slave contract with you both, as I mentioned earlier."
The two said nothing.
Wu Heng took out two contracts and had them both sign with their blood.
Two soul forces entered the girls' foreheads, and their faces grew even paler.
The contract was completed.
The look in their eyes toward Wu Heng changed. The previous wariness was gone.
Replaced by respect and submission.
"Alright, there are two rooms upstairs. Pick one, and Minnie, start preparing dinner."
"Yes, Master," Minnie agreed readily.
Andviel nodded coldly.
...
After settling the two maids.
Wu Heng opened the portal and returned to the zombie world.
Outside the neighborhood.
Several trucks were parked by the roadside.
A lot of people were loading supplies onto the trucks.
Someone spotted Wu Heng from afar and quickly ran into the repair shop. Li Yanhong came out, jogging over.
Once close, she said, "We've brought quite a few people this time. Starting tomorrow, some will continue transporting supplies to the prison, while others will collect various household goods from the neighborhood."
"Alright, I'll have some skeletons assist you."
Li Yanhong nodded, then added, "By the way, there's a small survivor camp to the west. They say a zombie horde is on the move, possibly led by a level-two Big Head zombie."
