"She is?" asked Norman, although it was very probably that he already had the answer in his mind.
The blonde was somewhat surprised by his presence that was noticeable, but curiously she did not remove her glance like most of his employees instead she simply looked at him with curiosity, however when she heard his question she began to open her lips: "Nice to meet you Mr. Osborn I am Gwendolyn Maxine Stacy, I am Dr. Curtis' assistant in his investigation as well as intern of the company" she said quickly while she extended her hand to greet him.
"However, don't hesitate to call me as Gwen, all the people call me in that way" she continued, Norman for his part only responded to the greeting after all he didn't like to be disrespectful: "A pleasure Miss Stacy" answered the Osborn, and before he could say anything else Gwen spoke again: -"I'll go to leave my things and put on my robe, so you can continue with your talk" she explained and as soon as she finished speaking she began to move to a different part of the laboratory, probably a room that serves as a break room.
"She is one of my students at the university, she is certainly one of the brightest minds I have had the pleasure to teach, due to that fact I proposed her to work together with me and other scientists, to have her horizons expanded" mentioned Curtis seeming to perceive a bit of curiosity from Osborn.
"Oscorp will always be open to talented individuals" he mentioned, for the moment he needed to concentrate on the Connor Formula, and then he would have time to think about the implications of Gwen appearing to be the same age as Mary Jane.
"So tell me, Dr. what is your answer to my question?" the Osborn questioned again.
Curtis gave a sigh knowing well that he could not fool him: "Certainly it was not in my line of vision the possible risks, the controls will certainly have to be improved to make sure that the regeneration is the only thing that the serum can give" he began to say in a sincere way, recognizing his mistake his enthusiasm at the possibility of having his arm again overwhelmed him and he could not see a potential danger.
"But Sir, does that mean that the research will be financed again?" asked Connors with hope.
"I have it planned however this time I will help, I hope it won't be a problem" he commented casually, the fact that he asked for something like that was because Norman himself was a genius in genetics and several other areas of study, however the old Norman only used his intellect for the direction of Oscorp leaving aside everything else.
An action too stupid and now that he was in his body and had that knowledge and ability he would surely make the better use of it.
Dr. Connors didn't mention anything, but his eyes were wide with surprise before he nodded silently, he couldn't refuse his boss's request.
…
She was really surprised to see Mr. Osborn in Dr. Curtis' lab, she had heard how many employees had a feeling between total fear and admiration for their boss.
For her part she didn't think he was scary however she did have a little admiration for the owner of the Oscorp Corporation.
After all, he was a genius, he was only 18 years old when he graduated from college, he had taken a degree in genetics and electrical engineering and only two years later he got both master's degrees and his achievements did not end there, at the age of 22 he created his own company and in only 4 years he managed to position it as an equal to companies that had a long history as was the case of Stark Industries.
There was no way she could not admire someone like that, to a lesser extent that is why she has accepted the offer of Dr. Connors.
Now she had one of her idols in front of her, luckily she was able to control herself for that reason she had to retreat quickly otherwise she would start questioning him about the doubts she had after reading his thesis.
Gwen smacked her cheeks a little to stop thinking about it, anyway by now Mr. Osborn had probably already left the lab and that could be the best case. Without thinking about it the Stacy arranged her hair in a ponytail to avoid any kind of inconvenience after that she took her robe and put it on.
Giving a sigh, she started to go back to the lab, what she didn't expect to find was Mr. Osborn still in the lab wearing a lab robe and concentrating on a microscope.
He looked at Dr. Curtis, but he was also extremely concentrated, so he did not know what to do: 'What happened?' was his fleeting thought.
…
Norman had his concentration focused however he could still feel a glance full of surprise fall upon him, it didn't take him long to deduce that Gwen had returned and was surprised by his presence in the lab.
"Miss Stacy, there is no need to look at me like that, from today on I will be helping you in the serum research, so you just have to do your job properly, if you have any questions do not hesitate to ask them and I hope that if I have one of my own you will be kind enough to answer me" commented the Osborn, taking his eyes off the microscope lenses for a second.
"Of course!" exclaimed the blonde and a pinkish tone appeared on her cheeks as she realized that she had responded with too much enthusiasm in her voice, so with her head down to prevent the Osborn from seeing her like that she headed back to her workstation.
Norman just shook his head in some amusement at Stacy's attitude and then returned his eyes to both lenses of the microscope.
…
That way the time passed quickly.
Now the Osborn was showing the reaction of a serum sample to the blood of a human, for that he had to use a few drops of his blood, but the result showed Dr. Curtis that his fears were not unfounded.
"You see" said the Osborn as he watched Connors leave the microscope with a slightly pale face, only to be immediately replaced by Gwen.
"I didn't think something like that was possible" said Curtis to no one, as he rubbed his eyes a little.
"But it is" he said simply: "But how is it possible that the serum is mutating the blood cells?" this time the question came from Gwen and neither of the two men had an answer at the moment.
"We don't know, at least not at the moment, but the main priority is to know it and once we know it we will know how to stop it from happening and until that problem is solved, tests on animals will not be possible, much less on humans" declared Osborn with a commanding voice to which Stacy nodded, on the other hand Curtis seemed to be a little disappointed and reluctant: "I'm sorry Dr. Curtis, but for the moment it's too risky" understanding the reasons for the man's attitude, the Osborn said sincerely.
"It's okay, people's welfare is more important than my selfish desire" mentioned Connors as he gave a tired sigh, Norman could see that he was being sincere, but he had no idea if he could fulfill the words that had just left his lips.
After all with the little research that was done it was concluded that the chance of success in recovering limbs was really high however the fact that the Serum mutated the blood cells was certainly an alarming sign.
At this point Dr. Curtis had everything and at the same time had nothing, Norman hoped he could resist the temptation otherwise it was probably that he would have to live constantly alternating between The Lizard and Curtis Connors.
"We will continue tomorrow with the investigation, it is better to get some rest otherwise we will be too tired to see the solution" mentioned the Osborn while the two remaining people nodded silently and began to clean the laboratory, the Osborn for his part safeguarded the sample of his blood combined with the serum.
If there was one thing that he knew about Marvel, it was that they seemed to have an obsession with clones, something that could be clearly seen in the history of the Peter Parker of the universe 616.
After a few brief goodbyes Norman headed to his office, although he mentioned going to rest he didn't really need it, however Gwen seemed a bit tired and Connors wasn't in the right state to continue working and for those reasons he suggested that idea.
He would work a little more and then go home, Harry should probably be waiting for him, that way he could have dinner and chat a little with him before it was his bedtime.
…
As he left his office, he only looked at his secretary who seemed ready to leave: "See you tomorrow, Mr. Osborn" she said with a smile and the sound of his heels was the only thing he heard afterwards.
The Osborn didn't take it of importance shortly after he followed the path and took the elevator.
His driver should be waiting for him, once outside the building the first thing he noticed was that it seemed to be very cloudy and the fact that it was starting to get darker made the atmosphere a bit gloomy.
His car was already waiting for him and without further delay he got into the vehicle and informed the driver about his destination, the next second he was on his way home.
It was at this point that he could think about the fact that Gwen had the same age as Mary Jane, considering that in most cases Harry, Peter, Mary Jane and Gwen were the same age, that meant that Peter should be the same age as the two of them, after all in most of the universes the two of them tend to be Peter's main love interests.
But if that was the case, then why was Harry a child? He didn't know and probably never will.
But in the event that Peter turned out to be a child that would mean that his version would be similar to the MCU version, or simply that he wouldn't be Spider-Man and maybe someone else would be.
'This world is certainly a troubled one' thought Osborn, there were too many variables to even think of a plan, certainly a troubled world he was in.
