Chapter 3 Kakashi's test

Isamu looked at the departing back of Arata following his new team and said " Well our son be alright Riki."

Riki: " It should be fine, he is with Kakashi, the Copycat ninja."

Arata, Naruto, Sakura, and Sasuke followed went to a location given by Iruka about where to meet their Jonin leader. Arriving at the location, Arata and his new teammates saw a tall man with white spiky hair. He had a mask on that covered went up to the bridge of his nose. His Konoha headband was tilted as it covered up one eye.

Kakashi: " Okay everyone before we do this, introduce yourselves one at a time."

Sakura: " Introduce ourselves? What do you want us to say?"

Kakashi: " Well anything along the lines of likes, dislikes, and dreams for the future."

Naruto: " Hey, you know, before we talk, tell us about you so that we can see how it's supposed to work."

When Arata heard this, his first thought was that he was an idiot as he didn't even understand this.

Kakashi: " Me? I am Kakashi Hatake. Things I like and dislike, I don't feel like telling you that my dreams about the future... never thought about it. As for hobbies... I have lots of hobbies."

Sakura: " That was useless. He basically didn't tell us about him."

Naruto: " Yeah. Anyways, I am Naruto Uzumaki. I like instant Ramen in a cup, and I really like the ramen Iruka Sensei got me at the Ichiraku noodle shop. But I hate the three minutes you have to wait after you pour the water in the ramen cup. My hobby is eating different kinds of ramen and comparing 'em. And my future dream is to be the greatest Hokage. Then the whole village will stop disrespecting me and start treating me like I'm somebody important."

Kakashi: " Alright next."

Sakura: " I'm Sakura Haruno. What I like... Uh.. I mean, the person I like is... my hobby is...uh... my dream for the future is... yaaahhhh.

Kakashi looked at her with an exhausted expression.

Kakashi: " And? What do you hate?"

Sakura frowned and said: " Naruto"

Kakashi: " Next."

Sasuke: " My name is Sasuke Uchiha. I hate a lot of things, and I don't particularly like anything. What I have is not a dream because I will make it a reality. I'm going to restore my clan and destroy a certain someone."

When everybody heard this, it was just silence for a short period of time.

Naruto thought: " I hope he doesn't mean me."

Sakura thought: " Sasuke is so hot."

Kakashi thought: " Just as I thought."

Kakashi: " Lastly."

Arata: " My name is Arata Senju. I haven't found anything that I like yet particularly, I lived in the forest with my family so this is my first time surrounded by so many people. The things that I hate... People who neglect or mistreats family. My dream? No my goal is to become so strong that nobody could defy me when I restore my mother's clan."

Kakashi thought: " Mother's clan? The Uzumaki? This group is gonna be a bit of a headache."

Kakashi: " Good. You're each unique, and you have your own ideas. We'll have our first mission tomorrow."

Naruto: " Eh, What kind of mission are we going to have?"

Kakashi: " It's a task the five of us will do together."

Naruto: " What? What"

Kakashi: " A survival exercise."

Naruto: " Survival exercise?"

Sakura: What? We already did this stuff at the academy. That's how we got here."

Kakashi: " This is not like your previous training."

Naruto: " So uh, what kind go training is it then."

Kakashi: " hahaha."

Sakura: " What is so funny sensei."

Kakashi: " Well if I tell you then you're not going to like it."

Naruto: " Huh?"

Kakashi: " Of the 27 graduates who just came here, only nine will actually be accepted as genin. The other 18 will be weeded out and sent back to the academy. In other words, this is a make it or break it. In other words, it's a pass-fail test and the chance that you'll fail is at least 66%"

When the Arata and the others heard him say this, they all got serious. However, Arata was confident in passing, as a person who constantly hid in the forest and spent his time training, he was not that worried.

Kakashi: " See. I told you you wouldn't like it."

Naruto: " That's crazy. We worked hard to get here. What was that graduation test for anyway."

Kakashi: " Oh that, that was just to select candidates who might become a genin or not."

Naruto: " WHHHHAAATT?"

Kakashi: " Well, I decide whether you pass or fail. Be at the designated training spot at 5:00 a.m. and bring your ninja gear. That's it. You're dismissed."

Then he disappeared on the spot.

Naruto was panicking as he thought to himself that if he gets weeded out then people will continue to look down on him. Sakura didn't want to be separated from Sasuke. Sasuke only grew more serious as he can't lose this chance. Arata, was calm as he was confident.

In the early morning, the four of them arrived at the training spot with all of their ninja gear.

Sakura: " Morning."

Naruto: " Uhhh" He was feeling too tired.

Arata nodded at Sakura. The four stood by a rock and waited for Kakashi to show up. Seeing that it was taking awhile, Arata sat down and meditated. While the others stood there.

As the sun came up, it was only then Kakashi showed up.

Naruto and Sakura: " YOU'RE LATE!"

Kakashi: " haha, well, a black cat crossed my path so I had to take the long way."

Naruto and Sakura gave him a frustrated look as they were both hungry as they didn't have time to eat.

Kakashi" Well, lets get started."

He set a clock on a nearby tree stump and took out a set of three small bells on a red thread said, " Here we go, It's set for noon. Your assignment is very simple. All you have to do is take these two bells away from me and that's all there is to it. If you can't get to them by noon, you go without lunch. You'll be tied to those posts, and you'll watch while I eat my lunch in front of you"

Sakura: " But there are four of us and only three bells, why is that."

Kakashi smiled and said, " heh, well that way at least one of you will end up tied to a post and ultimately disqualified for failing to complete the mission. Then again, all three of you could clunk out too. You can use any weapons you want. If you're not prepared to kill me, you won't be able to take the bells."

Sakura: " But, those weapons are dangerous sensei."

Naruto: " haha yeah, especially since you couldn't dodge that eraser."

Kakashi: " Class clowns are usually the weakest links. You can just ignore them, the losers."

Naruto was surprised at this comment. The intent behind his words was obvious even for him.

Kakashi: " When I say start, you can begin."

In the next instant, Naruto had already began making his move and took out his kunai and ran towards Kakashi. However, before he could get close Kakashi had already prepared behind him grabbing Naruto's hand with the kunai and pointed it at the back of his head. Sasuke and Sakura could not react in time.

Kakashi: " Don't be in such a hurry..."

As soon as Kakashi finished his words, Arata already got prepared and sent a kick flying towards Kakashi's head.

Kakashi blocked the attacked with his hand and said: " woah, I didn't even say start yet."

Sakura and Sasuke took a few steps back.

Sakura: " No way, I didn't even see him."

Sasuke: " So this is a Jonin."

Arata: " Hmph, you dare lay a hand on the Uzumaki clan in front of me."

Before Kakashi could grab his leg, Arata sent out another kick which made Kakashi jumped backwards.

Kakashi: " But you did come at me with full force. I'm actually starting to like you guys. Get ready... START."

As soon as Kakashi finished his words Sakura and Sasuke leaped into the woods to conceal their presence.

Just from the previous encounter, Arata already knew what kind of person Naruto was... he was an idiot and knew that Naruto wouldn't run away. As a fellow Uzumaki, Arata decided to not move also and see at least what Naruto was capable of.

Naruto stood there proud with his arms across his chest and said, " Yosh, Let's fight fair and square. haha."
