An NPC Challenges the Dark Lord(LN)

The universe is ruled not by the gods but by one player Yami. Yami is in search for every skill and has embarked on a path to prevent any other player from becoming as powerful as Yami. Yami is the top player of "Endless Probability", currently the #1 RPG Game on Earth. Later on, the gods become fearful of Yami's creativity with the "endless" mechanics of the game and thus plan to destroy Yami as the Dark Lord grows stronger eliminating players considered as a threat. The gods then figured out to hide Yami's hopeful demise through an NPC. The gods' plan is not guaranteed.

Sparing Lives

[Yami time]

"How many in the party, System?"

[A party of 5, notable roles: mage, archer, healer, warrior, necromancer]

An average level of 10,500. One of them might be bringing that average up.

I'm always cautious. Maybe too much.

"Have they come to Errd?"

[Analyzing...Location obtained. Close by.]

I guess only the Perfect Data skill will give specifics and I can only use System for relative information.

Is this life really better than the one I endured on Earth?

What kind of idiot even accepts a quest like this? The gods likely interfered with my duties and 'blessed' these heroes to die.

I've played like this before as a newbie. The gods came to 'request' of us to defeat a dragon but the dragon slayed all of us in the party. I died but I held an item that granted Full Resurrection after dying. I kept all my stats, skills and items.

I think I have a strategy. I'll greet them face-to-face. Maybe two meter distance.

"Who dare disturbs my deep slumber?"

That was cool I think.

I've kept some of my Earth personality, Maybe all of it but I hate to think this Yami personality is just roleplay or a façade.

I am truly Yami now. I'm THE God of a new universe.

These 'blessed' heroes look like they s*** their pants and skirts stumbling over themselves just by my mere presence.

Maybe I'll spare the healer. Healers are rare and I'll ask Game God later how many Healers exist in the game.

Necromancers became way too dreamy in this game thinking undead summons are strong. Perhaps if I suggest to Game God, a new top tier undead summon will be created and I'll be the first to unleash one.

Ah yes the archer strikes first and dies first.

"Analyze arrow."

They took a step back. Oops I forgot to change voice. Well, a thunderous roar befits a boss.

I need to learn the skill to use System commands without speaking.

[Arrow analysis complete...Type: Legendary... Name: The Arrow of King Midas]

I've learned the skill to absorb the unique passives and active skills of items but I already have...well sort of...my own "Midas Touch".

This single bit of dust should do.

After the flick of my flinger hurled that particle of dust to the archer, the archer turned to ashes. Now if the warrior were to come close...

"Arghh!"

Amazing battle cry and now after the entire party runs in retreat. I guess I'll take the ashes he turned into.

They can run but they can't hide. I mean literally they're here in the open grass fields.

Out of all the players in this Game Universe, why did the gods choose them??

Is it because the mage has the Supernova skill? It's only as powerful as the user. If I cast one I'd probably defeat every adventurer in the current galaxy...

"I will spare your lives. Listen to the gods no more. You were told that you are 'blessed' but I am Truth. You are cursed to replace your comrades with weaker ones."

I'll place a surveillance spell I guess. I want to know.

I want to know the fate of those who turn their back on the gods.

And off they go. Now then it is time to bless the gods with my visit but the Regionals...Time Stop.

"Is Game God awake, imp?"

"How dare you address the God of Demons this way!"

"What can you do? Hurt me? You are far weaker than the elemental gods. In fact I should probably take a non-elemental god as hostage to further my plans."

All the other gods close to the God barrier looked uneasy.

What a pitiful sight. The God of Demon puts his head down and walks away.

"Could you come here instead to brighten the mood? The gods are already burdened with boredom."

"Ah Game God, perhaps your alarm records my visits and wakes you up. Were the gods that bored so as to send a party after me?"

"That was my fault. I was testing their capability. They were the very bottom of the Top 100 parties of Errd."

"Ah so you eliminated them to place another party on the 100th."

"That new party's average level is 10 times less than the one I fed to you."

"So you do admit false promises that the gods utter regularly?"

"I kept my word and blessed them."

"To die."

"If you had that much of an advantage why did you kill two?"

"To set an example, many parties will be after me and my new Boss status will be known publicly."

"You are just mad that the dragon took out-"

"Enough."

"So you do cling to past memories."

"Consequences of Perfect Memory."

"I don't see a debuff when it's active."

"Debuffs aren't the only types of consequences in this game. Actually, one of them is the Fall of the God's Realm."

"Hmm? You won't beat us. I'll erase you."

"You won't. You need me in this universe. You need me to maintain every aspect the gods should've but cannot. You need me to gift and curse players for their talents."

"I need you...to go down to Erdd and dispel Time Stop. The other gods will be watching here for the rule changes. I've managed to create a large enough flat screen TV for all the gods to enjoy."

That's kind of a nice way to use skills but I doubt 100 years later, Earthlings still use flat screen TV. Maybe it's just thin glass that floats like the ones in my mansion and in those Sci-Fi movies.
